Food on the menu was falsely advertised. Out of bread, out of potatoes, out of wedge salad, no burgers, no French dip.Waiting 30 mins for a coke, no salad delivered, shrimp appetizer with french fries??!!

A good place to come for dinner. It has an old school vibe. The drinks are good and service is decent, and friendly. Come and enjoy your brunch or dinner.

Portions were good but kind of expensive. Hard to place a take out order and it took longer than expected for the food to be ready. Side salad was missing and the potatoes didn't have more than a drop of gravy on them.

Stayed in the Hampton Inn and staff recommended Val’s as best around. Punches about it’s weight. Probably a nice place one time. The dining room looked tired so decided to just have bar food and same menu available. The bar seemed to be the popular local. It was pricey for the tired looking decor and lack of any wow factor. The V on the outside sign was not working, can happen lights go but once in it was obvious no one had much interest any more and the regulars liked it. Food was ok, don’t think they were looking for accolades and not likely to get them either. Staff were friendly.

I love coming to Val's - especially if my waitress is Fua! She is such a delight and always gives the best service. She is super attentive and you can tell that she loves working at Val's - please ask for her if you can! We ordered the fried calamari, Caesar salad, rib eye steak, halibut, apple pie, and cheesecake. Everything was fabulous! I've also ordered their prime rib from here and it's delicious. I love how local and homey Val's feels! Thank you Fua again for your kind service. :)

Let me start by saying I've dined at Val's once before for a dinner when my friend was in town and it was awesome! This time I stopped in for lunch and boy I was not disappointed. I ordered their French Dip (house specialty from their prime rib) and oh man was it good. Comes with fries and a salad and I was in sandwich heaven. I also love this spot as it's all locals and very neighborhood-centric. It's comfortable, you can park there, the food is great and the service is amazing too. Friendly staff, great cocktails and superb food. Truly one of San Francisco's best kept secrets!!

The server that we had was not competent for his job. I ordered 3 menu items and had to repeat them 5 times to for him to understand. We did not receive water refills, I asked for ketchup that never came, we asked which vegetables came with the meal we ordered and he answered “I don’t know, if it’s a surprise”. We asked if there were alternative dressings besides the Italian and were met with “yeah, I don’t know. We have others but this one comes with the salad”. Then there was the food. So much of this food is “fishy” and pre-frozen. Crab is easy, and really hard to mess up, but they have figured out how to make it gross. We waited 45 minutes to be brought bread. We thought perhaps they were baking it. When it came, it was cold and hard. The swordfish tasted bad, everything is overpriced now for the poor quality. We will not come again and do not recommend this spot to others. With how expensive it is here now, you can pay the same for much better food elsewhere.

Had a landmark birthday and picked this place to celebrate. I will forever remember it thanks to Val's. Don't want to spend too much time writing this review so I will get to the point quickly. Awful service, two cokes took 20 minutes that's how the service was in summary. The hostess seemed disgusted by our presence, and not sure if we were wearing an invisibility cloak because we were ignored for most of our meal. We finished our meal and the drinks arrive kind of place. Work this economy it was a great sacrifice for us to be able to eat here. Dissatisfaction when you are broke hurts a little more.

A co-worker asked me if I wanted to meet here for some meat. I said yes. Literally I have wanted to eat here for decades. My wife did not want to eat here-I won't mention why. My NY steak was excellent as were the potates-au-gratin. The creamed spinach was good. My manhattan up was very enjoyable. I am glad I finally made it!

You need to get rid of the fake flowers in the tables they are disgusting. Reminds me of cemeteries. The smell inside is terrible. I love the food and service. Step it up Taylor brothers This is 2022?

Food was great. I had the French dip, it was perfect. The atmosphere was great and the server was on top on everything. Over all great experience.

I don't know what the deal with the reviews are I'm in from Dallas for work...the swordfish I just had was really good ... I asked for extra lemons But no worries ... nice salad with multiple beets.

My first time here today & the service was quite nice! Located in foggy Daly City, you've probably driven by this spot many times & didn't even think twice about it. The staff here is very friendly. Our server was Zuela(?) I don't know how to spell her name but she thanked us right off the bat for being patient with her as she's a new staff. She told us what the night's specials were, refilled our water glasses, and checked in on us many times throughout our dinner. She was a little busy but I wish we had the chance to tell her that she's doing great! I ordered the prime rice with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and my bf ordered the breast of chicken parmigiana. Both dishes were pretty good - I especially liked the chicken parm & the creamed spinach. The cut of prime rib wasn't bad but I felt parts of it were a little dry and bland. Ambience is very old school and reminds me of Garden Club which isn't a bad thing. It gives a nostalgic feel like back when your parents would take you to dinner at the steakhouse. The staff were all very friendly and polite and can definitely tell that they've built a rapport with some of the regulars.

Minestroni soup was hot and tasty, salad was cold, fresh and crisp, Appetizer, bacon rapped shrimp was hot and delicious, unfortunately my meal came out luke warm, but also tasty, primerib. My husband's lamb was over cooked, but think our server was new and may have put in the cook time wrong. She was very friendly and will become great with a little training. Overall we will eat here again.
