Service was trash. Came in on Wednesday at 1pm and they have 1 person running the bar, tables, and patio. Took 18 minutes to get our drinks, 37 minutes to get our food. Food was ice cold when we got it.

The happy hour at this bar and grill is amazing! With good music, affordable prices, great people and an overall nice vibe, this establishment won't disappoint. This bar and grill is a hidden gem. Sit back and relax while you take in the ocean views and are provided with quality service by a bartender with a great smile who pours one hell of drink. Thanks again to the bartender Josh, he made sure we had a wonderful time! We will certainly visit this place again the next time we are in Dana Point.
Moved back to the area a few weeks ago and forgot how much I love this place! The location, food, happy hour and drinks!! Always happy to be here, Emily is great also. She has taken care of us multiple weekends in a row!

Drive by this place every day and have never stopped. Stormy Sunday so my wife and I went for an early dinner and drink. Big open floor plan with pano-ocean view. Deck was closed due to rain. Sat by the window and ordered drinks all the standards. Lots of draft beers including my favorite Guinness! Wife order tuna tartar on wonton crisps. It was great. Tuna was fresh and wontons were nice and crispy with a tangy wasabi sauce. I had the fish and chips which were great. Hot and crispy and not oily. Prices were reasonable and our waitress was friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be back!

Hmmm, honestly: Oct 2023 seems like Sunset Bar has changed. Lots of drama it seems - servers appear depressed.. (If you’re a visitor not so friendly…locals only it seems.)

I think all ratings should be in the context of what you are reviewing. As far as bar food / bar experience goes, this place is 5 stars. This rating is based on two visits. - can't beat the view (hence the name), but you are elevated above PCH, so it can be noisy. We sat on the patio. - service can be very slow when crowded, but still friendly -$5 Mai Tai during happy hour. Good flavor, good amount of alcohol - Sharkbait gin drink - fantastically tropical - Spicy Tuna bites: these were absolutely shockingly flavorful. Light won tons, fresh tuna. I will get these on every visit. - Banh Mi Sliders: the mix of coconut, spice, cucumbers and chicken was awesome - Chicken tacos: chipotle cream kept the chicken moist. Very good. - Chicken Nachos: These were fine. Good for kids or with beers, but nowhere near the unique flavors and preparations of the other items we ate
