Everything was delicious ! Cuts were the perfect size . My favorite was the hamachi crudo. My group and I all joked about coming back the next day again . Chefs were really nice .

Impeccable perfection. So far beyond any sushi meal I've ever had, with wonderful service and a relaxing atmosphere.

Hikari is more of an experience than a meal. Not only do you eat excellent food sourced from Japan but you also get to learn about the history of that dish and the process of sourcing it. Super clean and unique dishes and seafood items. One heck of a treat.

SO GOOD!!! I was so full after. Service was amazing. The chef was also very sweet and it's a family run business. He talks about how he makes all the food and explains where he sourced food from.

Had a wonderful experience this evening! Hubby and I sat at the counter and enjoyed the full Friday night omakase experience. This was our 3rd omakase (1st here!) and I will say this was the one where I learned the most! Our chef was passionate about his craft, the history of the style of food, and his intention to provide an authentic experience to his guests. We enjoyed all of the courses, the fish was fresh, well prepared and often unique, and thr service was excellent. We left satisfied, more knowledgeable, and eager to return again! Thank you, Chef, for the awesome experience!

First time doing an Omakase. It was a great experience. I love hearing the explanation of every dish, not only do you eat great food, you walk out with a lot of knowledge. The whole staff is very friendly and attentive.Lots of Sake choices.

My husband and I lived in Davis for a few years and when this intimate, niche omakse sushi restaurant opened, our lives changed. As fairly seasoned foodies and harsh critiques of sushi, this is (and I mean it) the best sushi in California that we have had. And we now live in San Francisco. The chef, his wife and his entire team are incredible. They source only the best fish from Japan, but also prioritize local businesses and regional sustainable ingredients. We are awed and floored every time we visit by their ingenuity and creativity, while paying respect to the fish and honoring the proper aging process. If you think you’ve had sushi, you haven’t. Hats off.

It was an excellent experience, and the service was truly outstanding and appreciated. Even to the point of noting that my wife is left-handed, and serving everything from then on in the appropriate orientation. The only negative impression that sticks with me is the fees that are added on top of the expense of the main event. For example, a "mandatory" gratuity is tacked on. And of course there is no such thing as a gratuity that is mandatory, so this becomes an additional tax. I understand that this is an expensive experience, and that the skilled chefs and servers need to be paid appropriately. And I WANT to pay them appropriately. So please just charge for the experience what it takes to pay everybody fairly. There is no reason to pretend that this is a "gratuity."

Yes! That is all. Okay, but really... made reservations for a Tuesday evening. Boyfriend and I didn't know what to expect. The restaurant looked small on the outside and was definitely small and intimate on the inside. We were seated at the bar. The waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. Definitely would have passed the Japanese vibe in Japan. He asked to hang up my coat. Definitely was feeling like a somebody at that point. We ordered the Omakase Ni ($55) and Omakase San ($65). The only difference is that with the latter option you get 2 additional Nigiri, totaling to 10 instead of 8. However, our chef gave me 9 pieces. Rather than giving us our food all at once, the chef prepared each one in front of us and placed them individually on the serving plate, which we then transferred to our personal plates. This was a unique experience and definitely allowed us to appreciate each piece. Our order also came with an egg custard, diced sushi with fruit, a handroll, and cheesecake with green tea ice cream. Everything was served in cute little plates. Portions were also very small but enough for you to enjoy and appreciate what was served. We also ordered a carafe of Moon on the Water Sake ($26) and Pomegranate Aloe Vera ($5). Everything was beyond amazing. It was about a 1.5 hour experience. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone seeking a nice intimate restaurant for a special occasion. They also offer a weekend experience that is about $175 per person. Will definitely try that out next time.

Hikari Sushi & Omakase is outstanding! They serve seafood that is fresh and perfectly prepared and presented. I say this after a 3-week trip to Japan where I enjoyed sushi in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hokkaido, including the Michelin-star restaurant "Sushi Hayaki" in Kyoto. Hikari rivals the best sushi from any restaurant in any city. I love it.

We had a fantastic dining experience! The food was delicious, and it arrived at just the right pace, which was perfect since we were really hungry. Each dish was carefully prepared and packed with flavor. Max, our host, was friendly and provided helpful explanations about the food and its origins. We'll definitely be back for more!

Our experience at the restaurant on Wednesday (3/6/2024) was quite disappointing. Despite making a reservation for 7:30 pm and arriving five minutes early, we found the place packed with no available seats. After being told to wait for 10-15 minutes, we were further inconvenienced when, at 7:45, we were asked to wait an additional 10-15 minutes in the Hilton hotel lobby due to the seats we were supposed to occupy being taken by people who ordered more food. When we asked the server about the possibility of not getting seated even after the wait, the server just shrugged and said there is possibility and is no guarantee that the people would finish in 10-15 minutes. Given that the restaurant closes at 9 pm and our reservation was not honored as expected, we decided to or had to cancel our reservation at 7:50 pm at that point and left. It was disappointing that despite our efforts to resolve the situation, the server did not make any effort to find a solution or accommodate us. Overall, they provided poor service and lack of consideration for customers who had made reservations in advance.

The perfect blend of an omakase style meal and traditional dining experience. I don't recall everything I had but it was all wonderful. The service was also terrific. J couldn't recommend this place more.
