A bit disappointed, how can a Cuban restaurant not have mojo? The Lechon and yucca fries would've been perfect with some mojo, even my cuban sandwich. The Lechon needs to be seasoned a bit more, it was pretty much bland.

Hidden gem, great food, lots of seating. They sometimes have karaoke or live music. The ropa vieja plate is one of my favorites.

The place had amazing food and live music which makes for an overall great vibe! I ordered the fried shrimp and meat/cheese fries. The shrimp was amazing which also included a side salad that had an incredible Italian dressing. Went on a Friday evening with coworkers and friends and we all really enjoyed the live music and happy hour specials!!

This was the best Cuban food I've ever had!!! The place is terrific. It feels like you're in Havana. Great place to have a birthday. Very open and spacious. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so nice and treated us like family. I tried the meat sampler and all the meats were great! I could have this everyday.

Had a great experience with dinner and the service provided by "Coco" however my experience came to a crashing end when the "promoter" approached us about paying $5 dollars if we wanted to stay after we finished our drink. I think the owner should really do something about the promoter as my husband and I had spent about $100 in dinner and drinks but this guy decided to make us feel uncomfortable and basically ask us to leave over the five dollars he wanted to charge us. ??

Don't sleep on this one! Perfect for dinner parties and group luncheons. Specialized menus, attentive service, fully stocked bar, affordable prices and absolutely delicious food. What more could you ask for? Chimichurri Steak and yucca fries Pollo ala plancha Albondigas Ropa Vieja You just can't go wrong here!! Everything including vegetarian options are delish. Your tastebuds will love you. Can't decide where to go? Come here.

If you're a long-time Downey resident, you know by now the Cuban goodness of Tropicana on Paramount Boulevard. Caña By Tropicana is a larger Cuban fusion restaurant with a small stage and dance floor. They sometimes have live music on Friday and Saturday nights - and usually with a cover charge. It's at the corner of Firestone Boulevard and Old River School Road. There is plenty of free parking in a shared lot. Recently, I stopped here to place an order for takeout (2/7/20). The "Palomilla Club" sandwich ($11.00) makes for a savory, filling lunch. The massive sandwich is comprised of "French bread, grilled skirt steak, bacon, tomato, lettuce, Swiss cheese and jalapeños." The shining star of this meal was the grilled skirt steak. The flavor was delicious. The steak was tender and juicy. No tough pieces. I removed a star from my evaluation (below) because the jalapeños were for some reason omitted from my order - this after me telling the man who took my order I wanted it "just like the menu says." This sandwich also comes with a side of shoestring fries. If you're a kid at heart and not allergic to peanuts, I recommend the peanut butter and jelly smoothie ($4.00). Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the only place in Downey that sells these... WINNING! Overall, I'll be back to try more Cuban fusion fare, but I just hope they don't hold back again on any beloved jalapeños. Food: 4.5 * Price: 3.5 * Environment: 4 * Service: 4

The worker who ordered the 8 cases of beer took advantage of me through Instacart on Saturday by not tipping. I provided fast service and delivered those heavy cases to the door on time but for you guys not even tip a penny is wrong. Luckily my dad is friends with Mike.
