I was debating between Taco Bell and Cotija's. I made the wrong decision. I ordered a plain carne asada burrito and the lady told me she was gonna charge me extra because it was plain. What? I've never been charged more for less. I still placed the order because I am lazy and didn't want to walk across the street to Taco Bell. The burrito was done quickly but it was terrible. It was small, dry and tasted bad. I also ordered a soda which they grossly over charge for. All in all it was a wasted 18 dollars and change. Not visiting this location again.

Ordered a bean and cheese burrito. It fell apart in my hands. How the heck can a taco shop not even make a bean and cheese burrito right? For $7 I would expect that maybe I could eat it without a fork. Terrible experience. Not going to come back.

I ordered a grilled chicken breast chipotle burrito and basically got a bean bean burrito with some chicken, it was so overwhelming that I couldn't even taste the chicken.

I hate to do this. It was totally bad from A through Z the whole experience!. I called in and ordered the special carne asada burrito with roll tacos the lady on the phone responded with "ok"? And I said "that's all please" she said thank you and hung up,. no total amount or nothing. Before I walk in the outside window has advertising on the specials which I ordered and the price are marked off with black tape. I go in there and wait 10 minutes I was the only customer waiting by the way the lady on the phone comes around and says how can I help you I told her I called in she said ok your total is $17.35 I gave my card and says thank you I said "receipt please" and she handed me the receipt then I asked for 5 salsas please she said I can only give you three since I don't have that much..What the hell are you serious!?!? Then I noticed no salsa bar either! The special was $15.99 I get charged $17.35 with no extra salsas no receipt if I didn't ask for it, no salsa bar and no guacamole on my roll tacos!!! This place is a disgrace Don't come here and give them your money and the burrito was a flop and disgusting also no guacamole on the burrito nothing but pico de Gallo !. How is Cotijas on Magnolia in El cajon still open? I don't know but you guys lost a customer. Zero stars if I could. (I checked my bank statements when I got home I actually got charged $18.35!) How do you go from $15.99 for your special to $18.35!?! You guys owe me money ?A scale from 1-10 it's a 1.5

Lady working the counter was super rude. She wouldn't even let me finish before telling me they didn't have what I wanted. All I wanted was chips with shredded cheese melted on it. She kept saying we don't have nacho cheese. I explained I didn't want nacho cheese. I just wanted shredded cheese. She told me it wasn't the same and that they were out of nacho cheese. I just said never mind. Because he's wouldn't let me finish a sentence before telling me she couldn't do what I was asking. And when I said I would go elsewhere she said "f*** you" and walked to the back. Zero stars if possible.

First off, I want to distinguish this Cotijas from any other, aa they are family owned, but different family members. The owners of the Rancho Penasquitos & Point Loma locations are different from this one, as one can tell by the quality of the food & operation of the restaurant (those location are great). 9:10 AM, as I walked into the empty restaurant, I could not escape the very loud sound of music playing from the TV on the wall. I ordered a hash brown breakfast burrito. The woman asked if I wanted to eat in or to go? I told her I wanted to eat in, but could not tolerate the loud music on the tv. She made no attempt to turn off or turn down the music. When I got my burrito I noticed it was much smaller in filling than those I get at other locations. I mentioned this to the woman behind the counter & she informed me that the other locations are owned by differen family members. I left the restaurant to eat away from the noise, and upon biting into my breakfast burrito, the bacon crunched like it had been cooked the day earlier & reheated, tasted burnt & bitter, as over-done bacon does. Nothing redeeming about this location, but Pt. Loma & Rancho Penasquitos are great.

Cashier super rude. She offered to give me my money back if "I was going to start with my things..." She said, I don't understand I was just asking for the prices to know. I understand inflation but you can't never talk or say that to a costumer. I'm sorry, I am not coming back. Worst experience.

Gross. I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and it's pure salt and the chicken was gross. I don't think it was chicken . The sauce is very different then what I'm use to . Not very good. I bit into a bone so weird. And it must be real chicken but it's really weird tasting chicken. I can't eat the rest of it . I spent too much should have gone to Jack in the box like I originally was going to do ! This is not Mexican food it's weird food . I'm starting to think that I'm eating a human or something!! Soo gross . The service was fine . Nothing major just normal ordering and getting food in a decent amount of time. The mexico ambience is fine as well . But gross food

This place is a rip-off!!!! Way over priced for the quality. And to make matter worse....portions are very small. Stay away!

Tastes nothing like the Santee location. Bland and chewy meat. Will not return.

Just ordered food from here and it's going in the trash! Salsa tasted like fish sauce! Rolled tacos tasted stale! Carne Asada was more like a tomato burrito! Barely any meat! Enchiladas were disgusting! Don't bother with so many great taco shops in our city! $44 dollars down the drain!

Awesome as always. Fast, delicious, and open late. What else can you ask for? I make it a point to stop by every time I'm in town.

Ordered a carne asada burrito and a taco plate the burrito was so small barley had any meat, ordered it with cheese sour cream and guac, it had barley any sour cream, a few strands of cheese and no guac. Taco plate had about a teaspoon of meat in one the other had no meat. The beans and rice looked and tasted like they were days old. Very disappointed and will never eat there again. Attached photos of meatless taco and old looking brands and rice

JUST DON'T BOTHER GIVING IT A TRY! It's totally flavorless. The skimpiest servings. I'm pretty sure my tolled tacos had about a half teaspoon (that's being generous) of sour cream and guacamole. The enchilada sauce had a curry undertone to the flavor. Canned refried beans. As my husband just said, "literally everything about that was disappointing'
