I would not reccomend this place for several reasons and a main one is that it is not sanitary with flies always on the enclosed patio and inside sometimes. The younger waiter sees them on food and is kinda like TS I cant do anything about it.Its disgusting. The food is not cooked healthly and always very greasy or they dont seperate their cooking pans..We have had stomach issues from all the lard they use on items that are not cooked with lard. Also the help is substandard...When 4-5 people have diner its not just taking the order and dumping the food at the table..Forget any idea them might stop by and ask if you empty glasses need refills or how is the food. They might be in business a long time which totally baffles us. There are many other healthy food place in El cajon where the service is superb and he food is cooked healthy that your not running for pepto Bismol after every meal.

Food was was ok not the best but the best part was the roach my daughter found in her food. That was the first and last time we order from here. Oh man totally disgusted with this place. Check your food and I hope that kitchen is clean.

the food here is great the portions are ginormous for the price you pay no complaints there the only thing I disagree with this restaurant is that I felt rushed and the waiter just kept on talking to us the entire time we were eating I think it's unprofessional to stand next to your customers while they're having a nice lunch and carry a full conversation but other than that the food there is delicious the prices are super cheap for huge amounts of food

My boyfriend and I were thrilled to support a local business around here, especially with all of the wonderful reviews. I asked the hostess for their best dish and she gave me the garlic chili chicken and we also ordered the BBQ chicken with lo Mein and egg flower soup. I’m very sad to report that nearly every item was a disappointment. Chicken was overcooked, bland and tasted like it was old food that was refried from a previous order or day. Egg flower soup tasted like hard boiled egg water with eggs floating in it and the bbq chicken was slimy and tasted not fresh. We were both pretty grossed out.We don’t enjoy complaining and this is my first review on here, but I feel like maybe the owner would see this and feel compelled to honor people’s money for what they’re exchanging.

First time and the noodles were oily and mushy. Peppered beef wasn't peppery at all but still okay. Place was steaming hot with flies everywhere and not clean . Never again.

I’ve always love kips, but sad to say they’re not as good as they used to be. This yakisoba had three pieces of shrimp and barely any crab in it.

I am so disappointed in kips. I've been going to kips for probably 25 to 30 years when they used to be on East Main by the battery shop. We truly missed you when you moved to Hillcrest. We were happy to see you come back to El Cajon. Today I placed an order with a gentleman that was pretty rude on the phone he was on the phone when I got there but there was no way to know the place looks deserted except for two people in the corner. I ordered egg foo yong, shrimp fried rice and garlic pepper wings. All of that was $36. When I got to my house I looked in the bag and egg foo yong gravy and everything was put into a box not a container with a lid and hot gravy is all over my car and all the other food. The shrimp egg foo yong has so much soy sauce on it it looks like beef egg foo yong. And the garlic pepper wings there's enough garlic to kill an elephant. I would never recommend them his whole attitude sucked I called and he said we've never put it in containers. Goodbye

Now sure just how old the oil they are using, but my Pork Foo Young patties were charred. My Got Let Chicken Wings were all burnt. Maybe that's why they double tie your bag so you cant see the food until your home. $27.00 for two burnt items. Only thing they did do right was the white rice. Go figure. Never again. Their menu I have already thrown away. Restaurant has many flies inside the dining area. I overheard one of their only indoor diners say "Remind me next time to bring my fly swatter " Get rid of your cook or lower your prices.

Sad to say that our meal was not very good. Been going there for years. Now they only serve Chinese. The sampler plate was over cooked and over deep fried. I got sick too on my food. Not going back.

Good food and service. Prices are too high for the amount of food you get.

I remember when I was a kid and my mom would take me to this little whole in the wall Chinese Restaurant named Kips Cafe. The food was so good. So much so that I ordered take out from them for over 50 years. Yes, you read that right. Fifty years. The food was beyond amazing. The past 10 years have seen a lot of changes with the restaurant. Moving locations twice, and a steady decline of the food. I can only imagine that the original owners passed their recipes down to family members who had a lack of interest or laziness to continuing a successful, phenomenal business. In spite of this I continued to order my egg foo young, almond chicken and pork won ton soup. I have supported this business for 50 years. Now I learn from a good friend that they will be closing their doors doors for good after the first of the year. Last night, hoping to order my egg foo young before they close, I was disappointed to find that when the delivery driver dropped off my order, Kips forgot to put the special egg foo young gravy on the egg fu young. I called them and they had someone bring me some gravy, but this service is so horrible and the food is mediocre at best. I'm gonna miss this institution that I grew up with, but it's like watching a family member on drugs. You support them until they implode on themselves. I will miss you Kips, but your relatives have s*** on your legacy.
