Taking a picture would do no service, as there's nothing to compare it to. I haven't been here in maybe 6-8 months, but I couldn't look past the obvious. I came for my usual three item combo, and the new container was OBVIOUSLY noticable enough for me to point it out. Even the person helping me mentioned that I wasn't the only one that has said something. Yet, I still paid $15 for this DOWNGRADE... Chef's has been steadily heading south on portion the last couple of years, but today I have to ask; What happened to this place??

The steam table combo meals are a great deal and have become my go to for affordable meals. One of the large ones lasts me for 2 days and the options have been good so far.

Ordered for the first time. I must say I was disappointed. The mango chicken was bland, it appeared watered down with no sauce. Not to mention the real mango’s used weren’t ripe and they transfer some of the bitterness onto the chicken. The Sesame chicken as also bland not much flavor and left very much to be desired from the crispy coating they normally have. The wonton soup was missing salt and flavor as well. All in all I’ve had much better.

Chinese American food is decent, filling and reasonably priced. Quick in and out cafeteria style of service. No frills but good take out on the run.

Today I had made an order through this restaurant through DoorDash, and I was really looking forward to a nice warm food. But instead our order was not only left on the curb of a location that we told the driver detailed description of where we wanted our food to be delivered. Then I tried calling this restaurant back to make a complaint, because I did not receive any continaments, but the rice was dry. The lady who answers the phone couldn't understand me, when I made a complaint about the way the order was prepared.GrubHub delivery service was so much better then DoorDash. As well I will not be ordering food from restaurant again, until they prepare there food better, and take time to understand a complaint.

I don't what it is about chefs' service that leaves a pit in my stomach. It's really hit or miss on if you're going to have to order from someone with an attitude or not. Chefs is good for fast Chinese food that's affordable and tastes better than Panda, however you get what you pay for here so this isn't in any way the best Chinese food out here. This place appeases my Chinese food cravings when in a pinch. I've had a lot of items from their menu and all of it is solid, and if you order a la carte you'll find items not readily available in their cafeteria style menu items. If you order ahead, stand in line like everyone else because you'll just get ignored otherwise, and all orders tend to be to go as there's very little seating.

Excellent place for American style Chinese food. Not too expensive and a staple of the community for a long time. Stop by for their easy to-go menu/

Located next to Trader Joe's in El Cerrito Plaza, this fast-casual Chinese restaurant has finally re-opened their dine-in area post-pandemic. We usually see a line out the door during weekends, although ordering can be done either through GrubHub, phone, or in-person. They don't have a separate line or designated area for online pick-ups, so I find myself resorting to waiting in line just to pickup an order I already placed online. Service here is cold but efficient. It's important to check your orders before leaving, because they have handed me the wrong orders on several occasions. They're also a bit stingy on things like napkins if you ask for them for more than the 1 they provide. The food here is filling, and their quantities are pretty generous. Price point is cheap, however the food quality is not the best. Some of the food has clearly been sitting under a hot plate for awhile, and the overall quality is a bit on the greasy side.

I have been a constant customer of Chef's Chinese Food for quite some time without complaint about food or service. However, last Friday I paid with a $20 bill and was given change for $10. I argued with the young woman at the register but without satisfaction. The only bills I had were $20s, and the cashier also checked for authenticity before accepting the bill. I was cheated of the correct amount of change and, of course, will not be returning to Chef's Chinesse Food. So, make sure you and the cashier are in agreement about the dollar bill amount when paying.

Chef's Chinese is the place to get a quick bite. When you crave warm yummy soup, garlic eggplant with tofu and broccoli beef....get your keys and dash to Chef's.

I love this place for quick yummy Chinese food and it's "Authentic"! You can choose from their menu or get whatever specials for the day they offer in the trays. You can get a one, two or three item combo with fried rice, chow mein or half-and-half. Their chicken & corn egg flour soup is a favorite of mine! Their basil fish is pretty good as well and I love their fried chicken.! It's quick fast and delicious and there's always parking available as well at the El Cerrito Plaza.

Been coming here for 20 years. Always good food. Good prices for the amount of food you get. My favorite is the honey sesame chicken. Big portions. Love Chefs!

The food is good and flavorful. We had a big order with10 items to go. The only disappointing dish was the gooey greasy unformed egg foo young. Good value!
