The service was great. She was quick to take my order. The food took about 5 minutes or so to be served. The ambiance was not great. It was quiet and plain. It felt like a random Chinese restaurant in the hood. The food was decent. I have seen better San Sai. The price is high for the combo.

I know inflation has made the cost of ingredients and food has increased, but for November 2023, I still think $12.50 (tax incl) for a chicken bowl, rice and a side salad is higher than average. Maybe it's the location; maybe it's to make up for the lower volume of customers in this highly-competitive restaurant plaza. There are other customers who wouldn't mind paying for this tho. ?

Although surprisingly it does LOOK good, the attention to detail isn't there. Dry rice and dry chicken, no flavor to cabbage. The inside was a bit dirty and dark. I don't think I'll come back, some more attention to detail could go a long way.

Fresh & healthy Japanese fast food if you will. A tad pricey, but what isn't these days. It tastes good and is fast. Give it a try.

This place is just ok. Neither good nor bad. The food was decent, but pricey for what you get in my opinion. Good service. Not much of an ambiance.

I ordered the steak plate recently. The meat tasted like beef liver - horrible. The California Roll was pretty good. I contacted the company. Of course - no reply. Really damaged my opinion of what used to be an all around delicious restaurant.

I've been to Sansai before at a location that has since been closed, not sure why, COVID perhaps? (at Westchester near LAX airport). I found a different location at El Segundo on Sepulveda Blvd also near the airport adjacent to a few other restaurants in a strip mall that includes In N Out and El Pollo Loco. So you can imagine how busy the parking lot can be. I walked in and immediately saw the place not as nice as the one at Westchester. The seats were stacked up above the tables. No indoor dining here. Frankly I found atmosphere quite dour. I asked why there was no indoor dining and was told that they are short staffed and therefore could not support indoor dining. She was apologetic. There was in fact only the cook and the lady cashier. Its strange that there is still a shortage of service staff. People don't want to work? Anyway I thought about leaving but felt sorry as the place was not exactly bustling. So i ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl with the noodle salad. I had to eat in my car but that was OK as I just listened to my favorite podcast. The food flavor was as good as it has always been. Too bad the place looks rather sad. Final verdict: 4 stars for food and 1 star for the atmosphere. They gotta do better.

Wonderful lady behind counter.I always order chicken breast plate, half sumi half oriental. Extra veggie skewer . My wife and I love it. It's our favorite

I like the food here...the staff is pretty decent...except when you want a custom order...then they act a bit hostile. Oh and the prices have gotten crazy. Won't visit like I used to.

Horrible Service!!! The young girl at the front doesn't know how to give customer service, it's like talking to a robot. She doesn't care to be at work and talks like she's falling asleep. Ordered a teriyaki plate and they forgot to include rice. How do you forget to add rice? It's the base of the teriyaki. I was given 2 options. Come back for the rice or bring back your plate for a refund. I don't have time to leave my office to get lunch. I sent someone to pickup for me. I just thought they could have credit me for another plate in the future and apologize. Instead I got no apology for their mistake. You have lost my business for good, this time!! Worst SanSai I've ever been to. It's a shame the Westchester location closed.

I used to frequent this place regularly. Hadn't been in awhile, and I'm sad to report that the quality of food has plummeted while the prices have increased significantly. It used to cost $8 plus tax for a spicy chicken bowl, which is really just a smaller plate that comes with 1 salad, spicy Teryaki chicken, and side of white rice. I went in this week and it was $10.50 plus tax for a spicy chicken bowl. As if the price increase wasn't bad enough, the chicken was very dry and the "Sumi" salad was bland (missing the dressing so taste of raw cabbage was too strong). I don't know if I'd pay half as much for food that bad. I won't be going back. Sayounara, San Sai!
