Not worth it. So the owner of this franchise took ove what used to freebirds. After months of purposely avoiding it I decided to try it out. I was highly disappointed. Flavorless rice, canned corn passed of as “fresh”. They use cheap meat for the carne asada. Their queso is canned cheese and their chips are nothing special. Highly disappointed.

AWESOME ! I was a little upset when I saw freebirds was replaced but no longer! They have just as good a selection, and the crew is very friendly and accommodating. Black family owned and operated may I add Unlike another popular Mexican food chain that rhymes with chipotle(jk, its chipotle) they have a selection of tortillas to choose from, refried or boiled beans, 2 types of rice, lemons AND Limes to choose from, carnitas, Carne asada, a variety of vegetables from corn, onions, pico de gallo and guac to fajita veggies (lots of others too but I personally dont eat veggies). They also have vegetarian options (: Price wise it can get a little up there but that's the cost of quality food is it not? Lastly, they are still open amid the COVID 19 for walk in orders (no seating ofcourse) as well as phone orders and delivery services. Keep up the awesome work !

I’m all for new business in Elk Grove .. I’m so disappointed in this place not only in the quality of the food but the service.. I don’t often review but I felt it was totally necessary to make sure no one else experiences what I just went through.1) I ordered a steak burrito,I was told they where making fresh steak so I waited. For almost 20 minutes.. The steak was under cooked and salty.. When I explained to the guy behind the counter he stated no one had ever complained about it before. I didn’t want a refund I didn’t want a free anything. I didn’t eat the food. The only thing I wanted was to leave to never return 2) The same individual was wearing gloves while making the food, he was also cleaning and doing other tasks while wearing those same gloves to include handling of money..I’m just disgusted... Start a business and have no ownership present this is what happens.. Good luck staying in business..

What is this. Seriously. They closed the restaurant 20 minutes prior to even being here and haven't updated their DoorDash hours. I was here to pickup a DoorDash order and the sign on the door says 11:00 AM -8:00 PM. It was 7:40 when I arrived, and not a single person in their and it looks like it's been closed for atleast an hour. I miss Freebirds, screw this place.

Yikes! Five star reviews seem so fake saying the food tastes better than freebirds and they all mention the same thing very vague. People who really try the place go into detail about how terrible the food is. You can not finish your first bite without wanting to spit it out.

I just had to update my review to let you guys know how GOOD this place is . I see a lot of bad reviews because this place is BLACK OWNED in a mostly white town don't listen or believe them. The place is VERY CLEAN ! You can tell that it was a manager change everything is completely different. The food is homemade ( fresh everything ) Every time you walk in there workers greeting you. The few times I've been in since Freebirds I've even seen them go out of there way to help elderly people . It's really not fair that there getting a hard hit like this when there amazing . KEEP PUSHING GUYS THIS SPOT WILL BE BIG !

Better than Freebirds was for me. I'm a vegan, and when this place first switched to Gordito's, it was just okay. But, things are great now. Very good grilled veggies, fresh whole wheat tortillas, brown rice, and refried beans (veggie). The corn was surprisingly good. The salsas are much better than Freebird's salsas were. Their new spicy green salsa is my favorite. More like real salsa, not the bland junk FB used to have. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everything was clean and tidy. Seems like whatever transition issues they had have gotten worked out. It'll be my go-to burrito spot now like Freebirds used to be.
I tried a stuffed burrito with grilled veggies and carnitas (which were not served from the hot table so I don't know if the carnitas were kept at the proper temperature). It comes off as just a knock off of Chipotle, but misses in the freshness factor. The cilantro lime rice did not have any flavor, and the rice was overcooked and mushy. The tortillas were old and sitting out where patrons could reach over and touch them, despite being in plastic. I got a negative food safety vibe, and I probably should have left, but since the place was new I figured they're getting out the kinks. I was happy to see this place was close to work, but I don't expect it to be around long. If you want a cafeteria-style burrito where you know the food is fresh and the handling and storage of the food is sanitary, then just go to Chipotle. The staff is nice, but unless the food is good and safe to eat, staff alone won't carry the business much longer. I certainly won't be back.

Very clean & nice environment, music was is clean & kid friendly. Staff welcomes you in & out the door with smiling faces . A few different ingredients but definitely a better taste . Nice prices also, very good white meat chicken.

I just left Gorditos (first timer).. spend $29 (and was charged extra for salsa that is readily available in the dining area, so I'm not sure why the extra charge for something that looks to be free of charge.. Additionally, my burrito was tiny.. Tiny as in, one scoop of uncooked lime rice, 10 black beans, some salsa and sour cream, etc... if I could, I wouldn't give this place any stars, but they are welcome for the one. I don't recommend this place as it is not authentic and will not get a bang for your buck. Chipotle is right across the way, you're probably better off there!
