Highly overrated! I had such high hopes for this place. I love a round chocolate glazed donut but the ones here are 100% average and typical of most donut shops. I was spoiled by the Donuttery donuts in HB where the chocolate glaze is rich thick and creamy. The chocolate glaze at JR’s is super thin and tasteless in comparison. So disappointing.Edit: decided to give these guys another try and get a non Chocolate item. Got their Apple Fritter and overall it was decent. The good: They nailed the crispy outside with soft inside texture. Good size. The bad: there wasn’t much apple flavor and no discernible apple chunks. It was also the greasiest Apple fritter I’ve ever had and a little too sweet.I also learned that they add a 50 cents surcharge is you pay with a CC. I don’t mind this but I do mind the fact that there is no sign anywhere stating that nor does it show on the receipt. I only realized because she rang up one of the donuts as a higher price than advertised. I found that pretty shady.

Came here and got the egg cheese and ham croissant sandwich and the nice lady gave me several donut holes for free everything was just delicious!! And they accept apple and Google pay which is great because I forgot my card at home lol

The original Donut shop in Elk Grove and still the best in EG and perhaps in the Nation. Never have I ever had a better donut. Fresh, fluffy and perfect sweetness (not overly sweet like others, nor greasy like others). Customer service is always kind and attentive!

Food and service is good. It'll cost you 50 cents to use your credit or debit card. I didn't know that until I asked for a receipt and the cost per donut. Employee stated the prices and blurted also 50 cents for using a debit card. I replied what? She pointed to a little label printed on the register after the apple credit card machine and plexiglass window. They should have a bigger sign just like their ham and cheese croissant sign Would've been nice if she told before I placed my card. Especially when you are still gathering your thoughts in the morning. The donuts are always good. Been coming before and after Krispy Kreme was in elk grove. Just that blurt out of 50 cents without knowing and telling me it cost lots of money to have a credit card machine. With prices going up, gas, water, food, and paying for bags these days, it's tough times.
