Came here after checking out Jacked Up Brewery down the street, this place is rad. The second you walk in you're greeted by some cool merch and a ton of brand new classic records, they had Tribe/Operation Ivy/Run DMC/James Brown and so much more. The pinball machines in the back are fun, Batman is for sure the best game. Can't wait to come back! Didn't get a chance to try the food but it looked great.

Cool atmosphere with records for sale and lots of merch. Food is on point with a good beer and hot sauce selection to pair with.

After finishing up a hair appointment in Escondido off of Grand Ave. my dad decided he would come and join me for lunch before I head back down to San Diego. With Plan 9 being walking distance from where I was we decided to check it out. Mid afternoon during the week this place was not busy as when I arrived I was the only one there, but by the time we left there was a few other families. The menu was surprisingly large for a place that I kind of figured was more of a brewery but everything sounded fantastic I NEED to go back and try other things. Since I wasn't too hungry my dad and I ended up sharing a burger and it was cooked to juicy perfection with a ton of flavor, I was impressed. We also went for the truffle fries on the side which were great and you do get to pick 2 dipping sauces, I wish it was more because I love trying sauces but I didn't want to spend money on a bunch of them. Overall I would totally come back here and it is definitely family friendly as well with something for everyone!

One of the best brew and food joints in Escondido. Two things that will blow your mind. 1. The Super Chicken sandwich - the best chicken sandwich on the planet, insane flavor combo, it needs to go viral. 2. Stout Who Cannot Be Named, the best stout I have ever had. These two items have me coming back weekly. Not to mention the awesome old school punk atmosphere, it is a vibe. The brewmaster is awesome, most the time he's there talking to the guest about his new creations. The chef is awesome, he'll come out in his garb and talk with us common folk sharing his passion for food. If there is a special you should probably try it. The owner is awesome, he makes sure the place is operating with top notch quality. This place personifies Escondido as I know it and is a staple for anyone looking for a local brew house, the city should pay Plan 9 for keeping Grand Ave, a place to be.

This place is interesting. Not much on service here though. I was planning to buy some records before I left but I think they've lost out on selling me any records. Been here over half an hour and no service yet. Just asked and apparently they just don't give a f... Not the best first impression. I'll probably go somewhere else next time.

Happened by this place while I was in town from Philly for work this week. What a find!! The waiter/bartender was friendly and funny aand the food was amazing! If I ever find myself back in Escondido I’ll be back. In the meantime I’ve recommended it to some of my colleagues in the area!Parking: No trouble parking

Highly recommend stopping here if you're in Escondido. I got the Super Chicken Sandwich and the fries (don't skip on the fries) and my fiancé got the Great Caesar's Ghost. We were incredibly happy with our choices. I only tried the Positive Mental Radness but it was a solid IPA. The beer tenders were very friendly and it's a really fun environment, which made for a great experience.

Need to give an update as I've gone back here a few times more recently. I've only ever seen 1 person working here, serving beer to 6+ people and fulfilling online orders and who knows what else. I think they need a dedicated pickup area as right now I cannot recommend ordering food here online. On my most recent visit I had to wait for someone to come over while they were serving several people at the bar and my food is just sitting there getting cold. The food is decent, but I can't help but feel that everything is just little more expensive than it needs to be. They used to have burger combos at one point here but I'm no longer seeing it. For $25+ you can get a burger and a beer which isn't a great deal. You're better off going across the street to Barrel Republic and getting their $7 burger on Mondays. There was no way to add napkins or utensils in an online order and they weren't included in the bag. Overall customer service is lacking a bit here and they seem understaffed.

Great food and great beer! Best burgers in town and the best Philly cheesesteaks EVER! (I'm not typically even a huge cheesesteak fan- but... ) we've never been disappointed with anything on the menu! We love plan 9! The only complaint would be the hours. We would love if they were open later!

The beer is good, but my issue is the burgers. I spent $28 on a west coast IPA, a plane nine burger, and frys. The burger fell apart instantly, I found my hands holding onto what ever part of the disintegrating burger I could. The beer was great "West Coast IPA", but tonight just grinds my gears. I was craving a great burger and I went home hungry. Not cool...

I had not been here in over a year. Just went and got dinner and beers. Everything was fantastic on their revamped menu. Beers were great as was the service. Going to come here more often. Great job!

Awesome brews on tap. Nice menu of tasty appetizers and entrees. Plus, amazing sauces and dips made in house

I recently moved to the area and this place was high on my list of locally recommended places to try. Since I moved here I've been here at least once a week. Plan 9 is the perfect conglomerate of things I love - a burger joint with a old scifi cinema theme that also brews their own beers and makes their own sauces. Also, they sell vinyl records?!?! Great food, cool staff, and even when I tool my family on a jam packed Cruisin' Grand Friday they managed the crowd well. The only meal I had there that wasn't perfect was their Mac and Cheese which myself and my party agreed was a bit too salty. Other than that, every burger, chicken sandwich, and loaded fry I've had have been awesome.
