My family loves tamales for Christmas and we usually (don't judge) get them at Costco a few days before. We neglected to purchase on time and didn't want to fight the lines at Costco but remembered hearing about this little gem. This is a small, family run business that offers a limited but delightful menu with tamales as the star. They were sold out of most of the flavors but was told that they open each day at 5:30am with fresh tamales. I came back the following morning and what a pleasant experience. So warm, friendly and charming the moment I entered. I purchased pork, beef, cheese with jalapeno and pineapple tamales. All very fresh and absolutely delicious. The masa was very good and moist with plenty of filling. I've never been a huge fan of sweet tamales but I understand why their pineapple tamales are a fan favorite as I found myself eating more than 1 at home.I noticed several other items on the menu that I will be trying in a week or so. They have some great looking tortas (the Cubano caught my eye) and the BirriaQuesadilla looked amazing too.So, no more Costco tamales (now you can judge) at Christmas or any other time now that I've been exposed to Tamales Escondido.

Was on the hunt for tamales for Christmas & I'm new to the tamale game had no idea I had to order them so far in advance so I resorted to Everything Escondido on Facebook to ask where I could get tamales the week of Christmas got lots of good replies & Tamales de Escondido was one of them decided to head over here this morning to try a few of their tamales and they did not disappoint so I ordered six cheese, six chicken, and eight beef for Christmas Eve and they were so hot and fresh. There is only two ladies working here and they are so sweet and friendly, I felt immediately welcomed as soon as I walked in. I will definitely be here again in the future to buy more tamales as well as try some of their other menu items.

The Tamales were dry the meat was stringy and hard to chew I still have not found a good tamale in Escondido .

I was really hoping to find good tamales nearby but unfortunately this was not it. It was 11am on a weekday and they were out of beef, strawberry and pineapple. I ended up getting 3 jalapeño cheese and 2 chicken. Got home and my order was wrong, they gave me 4 chicken and 1 cheese? The masa was so thick and not in proportion to the filling, won't be going back.

Came here after trying other tamales in the area (it was like a tamales tour Saturday for us.) These were the best that we had all day. Taste was very homemade and the size was rather decent. They pack their tamales with a good amount of protein so that masa to meat ratio is good. The lady running the register was very sweet. Only thing, is they are technically to go only, but did have a table with 4 chairs inside. Definitely coming back here.FOUR STARS.
