I was there the other day to satisfy a "tamale craving"! Got the Rajas with cheese + some green salsa. Very yummy, and pleased to enjoy a tamale that was not dry as I've experienced at other places.

The food was excellent and priced very well. We had Tamales Jovita cater for our wedding event and everybody loved the food. They’re not usually open on Sunday but they worked hard and was open for us to make our day special!Definitely check this place out if you’re looking for great food!

My bf found this place so decided to try it out. It's in downtown of Escondido in the corner of a tiny strip. The downtown area is super cute with bars and tea rooms. This place is small but has stools to sit inside and tables outside to eat. You order at the counter when you go in and pick up when it's ready. I ordered the pork green, beef red, and rajas tamales. All of them were super delicious. I ate all three there and it was moist with so much flavor. My favorite was the pork green. My bf ordered the enchilada plate and he really enjoyed it. Only minus was that the sauce was slightly oily. Also they don't have any hot sauce so got salsa but it wasn't spicy. The tamales were so delicious that my bf and I ordered dozen each to go. We both ordered pork green and chicken green. Didn't taste the same after microwaving but still delicious. I will definitely be coming back for more!! And will post pictures next time

I ordered some green and red pork tamales for t-day and I was beyond impressed with the food. The tamales were fresh, hot and very flavorful. The pork filling was moist and the sauce was full of the flavors of old Mexico. Forget about the pre fab tamales from the super markets like Vallarta and Northgate.....your taste buds deserve better than what they sell.

Just stop by, I could heard ladies talking in the back, I tried to get their attention, they never came out.I could easily grab some tamales myself and they would never notice.Awful service.

I walked in and stood in front of the register, the lady came out and without saying a word to me started working on a different order, finished it, grabbed the drink. While I was waiting someone else walked in and the lady asked: “doordash?” And then the doordash driver proceeded to ask about the Tamales and decided to order ahead of me. I was there for maybe 5-10 minutes standing in front of the place to order and the lady I swear she avoided even looking at me so I left. The place was empty for a reason, it makes sense.

Tbh, idk how long this shop has been here, but I honestly wish I had visited sooner. The shop looked and gave a family-friendly vibe. It reminded me a lot of my parents' pueblo back in Mexico, which instantly had my hopes up for the food. Menu is simple but very tasty and flavorful. I went with their 2 tamale plate (you can choose from a variety of 6-8 different tamale options). I chose their chicken tamale with green salsa and their pork tamale in red salsa/mole. The tamales were cooked really well, and the pork tamale was not overexcessively greasy. They were soft to each cute, while each bite was full of amazing flavor. Their tamales were really good that I ordered a dozen tamales to go to share with the family. I found their frijoles to be just as good, and the rice was fair to say. They gave a side of two salsas along with their dine-in order (green and red, note: red is more spicy). Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. I liked that they had a list of FAQ by the front to help answer some questions such as what type of tamales that they offer, what ingredients are found in their tamales, are substitutions available, and so forth. Will be coming for more tamales this summer!

I highly recommend Tamales Jovita for its fresh, flavorful tamales and enchiladas - especially my favorite - mole chicken enchiladas. My go-to for fresh, authentic Mexican food.

Wanted to try this place for the longest time, that strawberry tamale was calling my name. Got a champurrado too, everything was piping hot which is a great thing. The overall experience was just ok. Nothing special, the champurrado was watery. Pricing definitely takes a bit of breath out the lungs, a bit rich for what I got . . . The search for a tamale spot continues!
