I have not tried the food but I can say it looks delicious every time I see dishes being carried out from the kitchen. My friend and I like to come here for the famous pornstar martini! All staff at Hunsakers are so attentive and welcoming. It's absolutely a hidden gem here in my hometown of Escondido.

Comfortable and intimate space. The staff is thoughtful and suggested fantastic options. The carrots appetizer was our favorite

Just found this restaurant when going to the theater last night What a delicious surprise. The staff was so delightful and helpful! Had date wrapped salad and brussel sprouts. Did not have time for full dinner. So helpful to get us out in time for theatre. and the dishes were SUPER flavorful and beyond what you normally get. I will be back to try the reg menu. Check this out if you love wonderful food. Thank you for making our evening so wonderful!

We have been here four or so times now, and will come back for sure. While we have had different experiences as far as service, the food has always been fantastic. The menu I believe is seasonal and constantly changing so I would suggest to check out the menu prior to going, I was a bit disappointed coming in to find they did not have what I "wanted" on the menu, what I ordered was great, just keep in mind to check the menu before you go. I really enjoyed doing the Chef's Mercy, which is a prefix menu that is chefs choice, just remember to state the things that you don't really want, such as soap, er cilantro for me. I love that this place is small, and right on Grand so that you can walk around after your meal. I can say that at this price point, I would expect the service to be a bit better, but ultimately we came for the food, which was delicious. I would have to add, that while it was nice to have the "live music", during one of our visits we were seated very close, and it was loud enough that we could not really have a conversation at our table, but again, food... great!

Adorable little place in downtown Escondido in the old Vincents location. Totally a vibe! The menu changes often so you can go back many times and feel like you're trying something new! We went for a special occasion and got lovely service even from one of the owners herself. Sweet people! Cocktails and all dishes were in point and delicious! Looking forward to visiting again!

Meal was wonderful. My only issue is that it took awhile to bring the wine, and then more time to bring the salad. We were not even half way through salad when the main course arrived, which they offered to keep warm, but we declined. Timing just a bit off for a restaurant meal, but flavors were very nice.

Disappointing. Arrived at 6:30 for dinner. We made a reservation online, which asked it we wanted outdoor dining or bar-area dining. We had never been before, so we picked bar-area. The staff seated us in a hallway right next to the kitchen! OMG! When we asked to move to another open table, the staff said, "all those tables are reserved." We left and ate at Dominic's, which was awesome. We walked past Hunsaker's 45 minutes later and all those "reserved" tables were open. Shocking that a high-priced restaurant would let $400 walk out the door. But they did. If the staff would have said, "sorry for the confusion, let us buy you a drink," we would have stayed. Instead, the owner said, "I hope you stay." Hope is not a strategy. Hunsaker's will be closed by June, IMO.

They are open for lunch now! Went for lunch today, and it was just as amazing as their dinner! We had the turkey sandwich and french onion soup and would definitely come back for either one. The service is always wonderful, 100% recommend!

My mom, sister and I had a girls' night out and wanted a bite before a play at CCAE. Although my mom lives in Escondido, we had never been! What an incredible surprise! The menu was so interesting we literally ordered all of the "Beginnings" offerings: asparagus salad, goat cheese souffle, french onion soup, creamy poblano soup, THE BREAD!!! and ended with the lava cake. Each bite was amazing. Our server Casey was great and the owner stopped by to say hello. We will definitely be back as the menu changes weekly.

We ordered lamb shank and beef Wellington as a takeout. Asked for the Wellington to be medium rare. They said they would do what they could but since it would be traveling it might be close to medium by the time it got home. It was perfect! Everything was delicious! We definitely come back and dine in! Highly recommend!

Went for a belated Valentine's Day double date to do their chef's menu. Wow it was delish! And the server, Joy, true to her name, was a delight! The first course was a crab stuffed avocado, then strawberry tomato tart and salad, then Kobe skirt steak and halibut papillote. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We were literally too full for dessert. It's a cozy space and a true gem in Escondido. We can't wait to return! And we'll be asking for Joy.
