I went to dinner at the Oberon restaurant in Eureka, CA. The restaurant is very beautiful, and I loved the decoration. Both my wife and I ordered New York steaks. They were great, very juiced and flavored. We topped our steaks with melted cheese. The restaurant does not have parking, so you need to find one in the street (this was not an issue, as there was plenty of empty spaces nearby). For desert we ordered a crème brûlée; it was very good. The only reason I do not give 5 starts is due the service, our waitress was great, but there was not enough staff, so we needed to wait a little bit to be seated and to get our orders. If you love steaks I highly recommend this place.Parking: Parking at night was OK, but you need to park on the street.

The food was amazing and I'm sad Oberon is closing. However, this review is for the bartender Denise. We came in dressed ridiculously before and event with crazy hair. The staff was busy. They were overwhelmed. We took a seat at the bar. Denise, you were a pro! I watched this person make maybe 60 drinks in under 20 minutes. She was joyful and kind and assured us that even though she was busy, she'd be with us. She laughed and joked while making probably 60 more drinks. Ours were AMAZING, perfect, and despite how overwhelmed the staff clearly was, Denise was still cracking jokes and laughing with us while keeping up with her work. This is an amazing bar tender and waitress and I hope this review gets to her. I don't know if she has a job lined up already when Oberon closes (which is a pity because the food was delicious) but we will go where Denise goes! I hope her next employers know how skilled she is and appreciate having her on their staff. We all hope to run into her again one day! Best damn Martini I've ever had!

We loved everything about our experience at Oberon. We were looking for a nice dinner while we were there for the night and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was wonderful, the music selection was great and the food was delicious. My husband and I were talking about making this our go to every time we go to Eureka but the waitress informed us they are unfortunately closing their doors on the 31st of December. Such a shame to lose such a great place

Our Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey dinner with fixings, also calamari and crème broule for dessert. Added an apple pie martini. Server great, food amazing. Enjoyed. We will return

My best friend and I had a wonderful dining experience here. The interior is beautiful. The walls are adorned with gold framed mirrors, photos of the redwoods and historic photos of Old town Eureka. On the side of the room, there is also a vintage piano. As a musician, this intrigued me :) There was also chandaliers and warm lighting through the restaurant. It felt warm and inviting on a cold evening. We ordered draft beers to start. I had the Eel River California Blonde and my friend had the Redwood Curtain Humboldt Trails IPA. Both beers were perfectly cold and tasted great. For dinner, I ordered the New York Strip steak with buttered green beans and french fries. My best friend ordered the Foundation Burger with fries. My New York Steak was cooked to perfection. I asked for medium rare. It was a flawless medium rare. The buttered beans and fries were also delicious. My best friend loved his burger and enjoyed it. We both agree that the chef seasoned everything in perfect balance. As much as we dine out... we find that a lot of chefs are heavy handed or too lightly handed with seasonings, especially salt. The chef this evening knew how to season well... Food was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Compliments to the chef... What made the dining experience even better was our waitress, Sarah. It was a super busy night for their restaurant and she handled the chaos with such patience, kindness and professionalism. Regardless of how many tables she had, she still managed to smile and make sure we had everything we needed for our dinner. I told her that i'm a saucy girl and I requested steak sauce and hot sauces. She came back with so many assortments. Oberon Grill, Sarah is true asset to your restaurant. All waitresses should be held to the standard of her warmth and hospitality. Give her a raise! Sarah, thank you for making a great dining experience even better. Thank you for taking such good care of us while we were there. We appreciate you.

This is the best place for seafood and steaks! My red snapper and the shrimp scampi was delicious. The steak was grillled to perfection. Don't forget to try the vanilla carrots. My favorite. Five stars...

Overall a pleasant meal. Food was very good. I didn't enjoy being charged for bread. I was very displeased with being charged for gravy for mashed potatoes. But, I will say that it was THE best gravy I've ever had at a restaurant, hands down! Staff was competent, but slow.

Too much butter, nice atmosphere. The waitresses are very sweet but forgetful. I went for dinner and got the salmon. I'd like to come back and try out the brunch menu.

Delicious good, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The waitress makes me feel I'm at the best place for dinner, like in a great family atmosphere. I had the super good oyster, grilled classy way, I all the way to Humboldt Bay to get this great dinner.

Fantastic staff, delicious food, reasonably priced! We had mac and cheese with shrimp and fettuccine with chicken parm. They were both delicious. We will definitely eat there again.

We are regulars of the oberon. My husband and I are busy working parents who love good food and atmosphere. Oberon staff always greet us right away, unless super booked they always find us a table and their food is good! I recomend you try the vanilla carrots. I don't know how they do it but they are delicious and unique. I love their pear and pecan salad, fettuccine, and they make a mean steak! They have a full bar and beer on tap with a decent local selection. Plus they are kid friendly! We come in, get a drink, enjoy good food and our kids color on the kids menu and it's like a mini-vacation from the world. Thanks Oberon

Oberon was worth the hype! I really enjoyed my chicken parm, I was a bit sad that they were out of mashed potato for my side! I ended up swapping it for French fries which was pretty good but definitely not anything like mashed potato's! I also had a side of asparagus which was awesome. Everything was cooked well and the chicken was tender. I also ordered a lemon drop and it was perfect! I was really impressed as it tasted so delicious . The service was awesome as well! I appreciated them for letting my friend and I come in late-ish. 10/10!

We were greeted nicely but once host Josie's friends came n a few more customers came in she never even checked on us. We asked for straw n extra napkins which we never got it. We had to try to pull her away from chatting with her gentleman friend so we can get our check n she told my husband I'll be there in a minute! We had to asked the other host for our check n container to bring our left over fish n chips (by the way three pieces of the fish was undercooked). Service was BAD! Will I ever come back or recommend your restaurant ... I don't think!

Oberon has been a favorite for celebrations since I was in college. It is a must stop for any trip up to Humboldt county. The servers are friendly, it is easy to make reservations ahead of time, and the intimate size of the restaurant allows for quality food and service. There's something on the menu for anyone.
