Surprisingly good place in a nondescript strip mall. Everyone in our party of 7 was satisfied. My kids loved the chicken tamale plate. I had tacos of lengua and asada that were both really good. The salsas and chips were yum, especially the smokey red salsa. Rice and beans were on point. The fish taco was slightly bland, but the freshness and homemade everything, including tortillas, more than made up for that. I would definitely come back to try more.

Maybe this is the best place in fortuna for Mexican food, but it is definitely not the best in the county. I expected more food for what I paid.

True family owned restaurant with walk up counter service. Casual open interior with booths around the perimeter. The lady running the counter is obviously the mother of the house, her mannerisms and demeanor both ones of pride of the restaurant and also the food served. Our food was presented on a cart, buy the chef, who appeared to be the father of the house. Again, great pride in the food and presentation. This is really good food, all the flavors were on point. The chips housemade and the salsa was delicious smoky, full flavored and obviously fresh made.Albondigas was an excellent choice on the cold afternoon of my visit. The soup was filling with nice vegetables and plenty of meatballs. Rich and hearty it really hit the spot with me. Along with a Jarritos soda and a piece of Tres Leches Cheescake for dessert, it was a very good lunch.4 Stars a good choice with great service 00935

Out of all the Mexican spots in Fortuna (I think there's 6) this was the last one I tried and it's become my favorite. Just tried the taco Tuesday and ordered 2 each of all four flavors we did enjoy them all but I preferred the asada and carnitas. The Al Pastor was a little too sweet for me. The staff is friendly and orders are always ready when I arrive.

The food is passable, but not great. Caveat: I have no idea about the restaurants in the area (for all I know, this is the best restaurant in town), as we were passing through. It was are getting close to sunset, I had hungry kids, and I didn't know anything about the area, but figured "you usually can't go wrong with Mexican food." The service was hilarious. The level of condescension was akin to something one would see on a movie, at say, a high-end, French restaurant, serving people who did not seem to be in the right tax bracket to be dining there. I typically leave good reviews and swipe past the restaurants I either don't remember or did not enjoy, but this one stuck out in my mind. By way of edification for the staff, should they ever read this: you can wear a mask and speak clearly OR you can mumble (and maybe still be understood) you CANNOT do both. The repetition of "what?" "I'm sorry?" and "I do not understand" should have been an indicator.
