Wanted to try this place however they close before their posted hours very often .Only being available in the evenings that has left me unable to visit this place.

They don't follow their hours. They were closed at 2pm on a Friday

I've had one successful attempt at ordering a matcha float at the Fountain Valley Cafe Maiko. The first time, the door was locked and I waited 5-10 minutes for the staff member to show up and unlock the door then proceed to take my order. No staff members were seen at this location during the listed hours of operation my other two attempts. Don't rely on the hours listed on google/ yelp and don't bother wasting your time driving to this place.

I have become a HUGE fan of hojicha thanks to this place. Their hojicha float is the best I had in a really long time - the hojicha taste is miles better than that of Blue Bottle Coffee and Matcha Love. However, it was very large and creamy, and I discovered that I do have lactose intolerance genes a few hours after drinking my float ): I have also gotten their Matcha soft serve, and while I love it, I think the portion is out of control. I wish they come in half sizes.

Very cute homey atmosphere with delicious authentic matcha. My friend and I popped in and decided to just share a matcha soft serve. For two people, I definitely recommend sharing just one cup and saving that four dollars because they are very generous. The serving portion is great and worth the four dollars for two people!

After dinner, my friends and I wanted to chitchat some more and decided to grab some dessert. We settled on Matcha Cafe Maiko that's conveniently nearby. The store was abnormally dark with only a set of lights on at the cashier area. Many of the items on the menu were crossed out and unavailable. There were also no trash cans inside. Meh on ambiance. Iced matcha, on the other hand, was lightly sweetened and very refreshing. I can taste the matcha powder in my drink. I had no complaints on my drink. I also sampled by friends' soft serves and they were pretty delicious too.

Kinda sad to write the review but the hrs are ridiculous. Been to this place twice on different days at different times when they are suppose to be open. CLOSED. Not sure of their staffing but there is literally no one there. Lights of at night. Store locked and empty during the day.

Their ice cream using highly sought-after Japanese matcha green tea and perfect as a sweet and refreshing dessert after a traditional Japanese meal.

I am only giving this location 3 stars because it isn't as good as the locations in SF (China Town and Japan Town). How is it that the prices in OC are more than in SF?! My large hojicha tea float in SF costs $6.30 and nearly $8 in OC?!?! Makes no sense! And the hojicha is PRE-MIXED with sugar so you cannot adjust the sweetness at all. In SF I get the tea without any added sugar. In OC you are charged extra for getting matcha soft serve in the float - they don't charge extra in SF. My biggest complaint about this location, though, is that they do not have the flavor: LESS CREAMY MATCHA. This is the soft serve to get if you want less sweetness and less creamy matcha. It is amazing! Will have to wait until I am back in SF as this will no longer do for me.

I've been to one location in SF, and I've been wanting to come here ever since finding out there is a location near me in SoCal. My bf and I split one hojicha tea float (mixed of matcha and vanilla soft serve) because I knew it'd be a huge portion. Checked in on Yelp for 10% off. In my opinion, the sweetness was just right (the bitterness of matcha complemented the sweet vanilla). The earthy taste of hojicha drink was my favorite part. Will definitely be back to try their Maiko Special!

The manager and the staff is super nice and friendly! If you absolutely love matcha, then this is the place to go. The matcha soft serve is intense and not milky like other places. You got to try this and you'll definitely come back for more!! Ty!!

Fantastic, luxurious and rich taste both matcha and hojicha are excellent and premium tasting and authentic like the ones in Japan. Definitely recommend if you cant travel to Japan.

Loved the Matcha latte float. Matcha seems to be of good quality as well. Good portion.

I was craving ice cream because of the new heat wave, so I decided to visit one of my favorite matcha ice cream places for a cool treat that wasn't too sweet. I'd been here before covid, but this was my first time during covid times and they've revised their menu temporarily. Luckily they were still serving ice cream. I love this place for the quality of their ice cream. Even though it's just soft serve, you can really taste the high quality and concentration of matcha in the ice cream. Because of the quality and concentration of matcha I'd actually recommend their matcha, vanilla swirl instead of pure matcha since that can be incredibly overpowering. It's nice though since it's not overtly sweet or creamy to the point that it masks the actual taste of matcha. Their portions are pretty generous as well and they offer you the choice between a waffle cone and a cup. Usually the texture of their soft serve is very premium and almost chewy, but unfortunately today it was more icy and mushy (maybe it's because I showed up around opening time?) Besides that though, I really do enjoy this place and would revisit when I get those matcha ice cream cravings. I also appreciate the safety measures they've implemented since covid!

I got the matcha float and they put small ice chunks in it which was really unfortunate because it kept getting in the straw with boba and made it crunchy :/ And it wasn't just a fee ice cubes, but it filled up the entire cup (pictured) I'm not even sure why ice would be put in a float but to take up room in the cup.
