Placed order and suppose to pickup at Saratoga Village Farmer Market. Went there and was told BunBar is no longer there for about a year. Called and nobody is answering the phone, and auto reply email says the order is in process and credit card has been charged. Is Bunbao out of business ? if not, very bad service then. I was the first batch of the customer when they just started business, and used to have delivery service and much better shape than today looks like.

BunBao's storefront is located in the plaza by the Ardenwood park & ride lot. It's a takeout and catering pickup area and not a dine-in restaurant. You can catch them at several farmers markets and their food truck makes plenty of stops across the bay. Their website BunBao.com displays their vast schedule of locations, ordering system, and more. I was able to catch their food truck (van) and try two of their baos, the braised pork belly and bbq pork, along with an order of sesame balls. I really like the texture of their bao buns, they're perfectly bouncy without being too soft or mushy. The taste is light enough to create balance with the rush fillings. The texture of the braised pork belly was soft and chewy from the fatty pieces. Both this filling and the bbq pork filling has a nice combination of sweet and salty. The sesame balls on the other hand had a very dry red bean filling. The paste felt very dehydrated but the outer dough was chewy and fried nicely.

I really do hate giving bad reviews, but sometimes you just need to let people know that a business is definitely NOT worth their time or money. With that said, BunBao is 100% blah.My first time visiting this food truck, so I had high hopes for it...and it left me HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I only ordered a couple of items. The food was stale as hell, HOT--but STALE. This is what I ordered...Pork Belly Baos -Yuck. There is no way in hell that these pork buns are fresh. The entire texture of the bun is hard and dry...like when you put leftover buns in the refrigerator and microwave them days later, and they're hard after 30 seconds out of the microwave because they're so old they've lost all of their moisture. The meat was dry and hard (see pic), but the FAT (pork belly) was mushy. Seriously, the texture of the bao was giving "garbage", and that's exactly where it went. Out of 2 pork buns, 1-1/2 went straight into the trash. More of it would have gone into the trash, but I tried giving some of it to my dogs and even they rejected it. You can get far better tasting pork buns from the frozen section at Costco. If you want pork buns from a food truck, I recommend The Chairman which never disappoints.Sesame Balls -Tiny balls, not like the ones you get at a normal restaurant. They were not much bigger than quail eggs. Again, stale as hell. They are so old and stale that they are gray, deflated, and hard. You know it's a good sesame ball when it's light and airy. These were the opposite of light and airy. They were half way to turning into rocks. I could barely chew the first bite, and that bite was so dry and hard I thought I was going to choke as it went down. I got 5 balls. I threw out 4-1/2 balls. No regrets. I would have tossed them if they cost 5K each. Those two items came out to over $20 (15% tip included). Definitely not worth it. What was also odd is that both items came in the same box. What if the two orders were for two different people? I definitely do not recommend this place. I read the other reviews and I don't know if the good reviews are from friends and family, because there ain't no way this place should get more than 1 or 2 stars. Otherwise, maybe they make it fresh once a week, freeze the cooked items that don't sell, and serve up the leftovers after a blast in the microwave the rest of the week. I mean, I know leftovers, and these taste like they're on day 3-5. Definitely over microwaved which is why they were hard like rocks within seconds. Ugh.And yes, I know my dim sum. I'm from SF and growing up we would get dim sum no less than once a week from a couple of places in Chinatown. Starting in my teens, I would drive down to various places in the Avenues, and the Peninsula. I've also ordered similar items from various food trucks. This is not a place I will get food from ever again.

I ordered the shrimp dumplings and the braised pork belly bao that comes with a drink for pickup from their food truck. Online ordering was easy. I was disappointed with the food though. My bao did not look like the picture. It didn’t taste fresh. The dumplings were okay until the last few. The dough was too tough to eat. I saw him stick the baos in the microwave. This is not a food truck. More like a van. For $27.76, please do better.

I wish they do delivery service in my area again. My area is no longer their service area. I love their soft bun and frozen dumplings and decent pricing.

Worst place for Xiao Long Bao, the meat is not fresh and smells like dead animals. I got vomiting the other night after I ate this.

Purchased their minced pork buns at a farmers market. I didn't have high expectations to begin with. Honestly Trader Joe's and Costco's buns are waaaay better than these. The pork filling is not in pieces or even minced. It's like a paste and tasted awful. There's no veggies in it. The bun taste bland (normally there shd at least a hint of sweetness). And for this quality the price is outrageously expensive at $12/13. Pls save urself some money and go buy from TJs.

The only place where I can get the egg and chive buns. Taste pretty good too. We also like their cheeseberger buns. Apparently they don't offer that anymore. Hope they can come back.

I bought $180.00 ****** gift card on 11/10/2020 confirmed wwith ******,that gift card never expires. ****** switched their business to another system, never notified us. We also had wechat group to order food, this group is no longer working. I am not the only one facing this problem, many customers can't use their gift cards. I called ******, theire phone# is not valid. I emailed ****** and wechated to two ****** customer service agents, nobody got back to me. This is not a good way to do bussiness. I am looking for my money back.

your maroon Honda Accord cut me off in traffic today AND uses no turn signals. One star just for that.
