I gave this place, under new management, a couple of tries but will go elsewhere now. Three measly pieces of chicken tocino?

A friend of mine who used to live in Union City recommended this place. She said so far it's a great choice for "lutong bahay (home cooked) Pinoy meals. I went today and ordered pork sinigang, bistek Tagalog, beef mechado and lumpiang Shanghai. The bistek Tagalog was so bland. Growing up I was used to tasting the calamansi in this dish since it's supposed to be marinated in soy sauce and calamansi. No taste of that at all. Even my husband (who's White but loves Pinoy food) said it's not good. The mechado was ok. Nothing special about it. The pork sinigang is ok as well. You can never go wrong with lumpiang Shanghai. That one was pretty good since they are cooked to order.

UPDATE: Had the tosilog again and it was very good like last time so it's good to know they cook consistently. Very impressed with how well they cook the sunnyside-up eggs. Love to pop the eggs over my garlic rice. So it seems the silogs don't come with a dipping vinegar sauce. I asked for one and they gave it to me for free. Talked to the staff and they're super nice. Will come back to try the other items here.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Tosilog was solid. Tocino wasn't overly fatty or lean, and not greasy. Love how they give you two nicely cooked sunnyside eggs. What I didn't like is they forgot to pack the vinegar dipping sauce. Good to check for next time. Will come back again.

Amazing food and service! They made a tofu dish just for me so I had something to eat as a vegetarian. The food was immaculate I barely came up for air lol. The staff was super kind and accommodating. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely be coming back!

Best Filipino food ever!! It felt like home. Especially with the fun plant wall.I had the logsilog with garlic rice. The egg was so runny over the rice. IYKYK. I was in heaven. And btw I don’t eat meat …. only longganisa.Dad had batchoy and beef steak which was super delicious. Lutong bahay. Felt like home. The owners are really nice and you know they make the food with heart. They busted out with Karaoke. So you know this is authentic Filipino.I look forward to trying more and catering my next party.I 10/10 recommend.

Get the lumpia. You will be so happy you did. They are warm and crunchy on the outside and flavorful and meaty on the inside. The sauce is a perfect companion, but the lumpia are equally delightful without it. Pancit bihon is another must. I was really happy with it! I loved the details, from slicing the green beans, to making sure we had lemon wedges. It was a little peppery for my kiddo, but I enjoyed it and would order again. The noodles and veggies were the perfect consistency. Anytime I try a new Filipino restaurant I order these two dishes to help me decide whether to order again. I definitely will be back next time I'm in the area! Not only was the food good, but the service was also really warm and welcoming. I called ahead to place my order, and the woman on the phone was super accommodating to my questions. (E.g. Are they the little lumpia or the super long ones? How many to an order?). They are the little lumpia, and they come 1 dozen to the order or in catering trays of 50 or 100. She mentioned that it would be easy for 1 person to throw down 12 lumpia in one seating, and she was so right! She also estimated my food would be ready in 10 minutes, and it was. The ambience is super casual, but inviting. There was a couple dining there when I arrived, and they seemed to be having a good conversation with the woman at the register. The woman at the register greeted me upon my arrival, checked on my order, gave me accurate information about my lumpia being about to come out, and she asked me lots of questions about how I found the restaurant. She said the restaurant was typically frequented by local Filipino people and mentioned that Yelp and other online review sites have brought more and more types of people in to eat. So stop by and support this yummy local spot! The location is a bit unassuming, and it's not easy to find from the street, even if you're driving down Alvarado because you have to turn right onto Lake Arrowhead Ave to see it. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in between Ardenwood and Union Landing, in between a wax center and an empty building. Even if you aren't in the immediate area, it is worth the drive.Plenty of parking. Great food. Friendly staff. Definitely will be ordering at least 50 lumpia next time! (No pics of the lumpia or pancit because we gobbled it up.)
