It is unbelievable, a place where charm/character have no value and only a sense of validation is king. You go in there and realize that there are men who will just stare at you, maybe because you dressed nice to attract the attention of the walking half-naked beauties that roam this place like something written by 50 shades of Grey, only to be put in your place immediately that "It's a trap!" But my selfish desire to take women out of there element and spend time with them outside of this establishment was met with the usual lie that they were willing too. I believe its a type of wannabe gangster that they would be interested in. The irony is, most of the men sit around the outer tables inside, and if you were willing enough, you could get a conversation with cafe women, but you never know when they had time too. Some have friendly waitresses who will sit and talk with you (like it is advertised) and some will not. From a former employee it's because there is a divide in the women there. Some have arrived here to work in these establishments to provide for there family, but only care about money side of things, and the others will have good intentions and sit/talk with you, but only want validation, not to go out with you, and you think they might... but hey I haven't had luck and take it or leave it. back in the 2010's, it had so much potential for a young mans affection, but from jumping from one "cafe di vang" to the next, your met with intimidation, outcast feelings if you weren't the "type," (I won't go into detail, you can go for yourself lol), and lovely ladies who came across standoffish mostly and some who did talk, felt empty and unrewarding at best. I wasn't expecting a conversation of the level of what is going on in the world today, but even trivial conversations were difficult to muster, what they heck were you going to talk about with a beautiful women you never met before lol. And when you mastered the art of random conversations with beautiful strangers, it felt rushed, so they can get up move on to the next customer. Nothing wrong with that, its there jobs, but no that is what that feeling is like. The only feeling you can relate this too is a date with a friend, she's there eating dinner/lunch with you, your interested talk for 5-10 mins, but in the middle of conversation she says "it was nice chatting with you, I'm going to continue working and maybe return." I don't know how are you not obligated to feel alone, embarrassed and wanted to rip a check from the nearest cash register to save as much face as possible so you don't deep dive into "Cafe Vang" depression right on the spot. Fortunately, I had the level of composure that rivaled one of a Buddhist Monk, deep in tranquility, that the only thing that mattered when she left my table, was my unnervingly strong cup of coffee, that palpate your heart so you felt like Jason Statham in the movie "Crank." Which didn't help your Zen... Another example is a game of baseball, trying to keep them at first base, yet they were always looking at home plate, and you were signaling the pitcher to throw you the ball (metaphorically) so she wouldn't steal second base, only looking to home plate. It was a mind game, for little attention and nothing thereafter no matter how you felt about her. Orange County is one of the most beautiful places to live with some of the most beautiful Asian women around the world and locally born, but with the most unattainability in the world as well.... It feels so unnatural to find that "way" they like, and I wouldn't even know where to begin if you were to ask a veteran who lived here almost his whole life, my only advice is to look elsewhere if it ain't working for you. As you can tell in my way of writing, I have creativity, something that maybe lacking here, and the only viability is what is in your wallet, maybe the cure all for some here, but I'm not that type of person. I for the
