My new favorite spot in Garden Grove for Vietnamese/French food. Great chicken dishes.

I think we stuffed too many people into the restaurant for the special event. Maybe some last minute family that showed up.

Ga Bistro seems a bit in an old strip mall. We decided to give the place a try as our original spot had a long wait list. For a Friday evening, the the quietness of the cafe seems odd and not as bustling as the restaurants in next plaza less than 200 yards away. This maybe attributed by the price point (higher than the normal). We were welcomed by the hostess and sat in a table by the window. The venue is small with about 10 tables. We ordered:Shrimp Claypot - 5/5. The crispy shrimps were large and lightly battered layered with sauce over a claypot of crispy rice. Filet Mignon - 3/5. A standard dish that didn't standout.Desserts (Yelp CheckIn offer) - 5/5. Sometimes those nice complimentary desserts can make seal the meal.

It's so good here that I ate com ga roti three times a week. Finally found a spot that fulfill my craving:)

This is one of the better restaurants that we've eaten at recently and at a fraction of the price which was shocking because I expected the prices to be higher. We ordered the 5-courses of chicken - normally, chicken is one of my last options but it seems like what this place is known for so we had to try it. It was absolutely delish!!! One course was the best deep fried egg roll with the thin noodles that you wrap - so light and crispy - I have never had it this lightly crispy. Another was a spicy fried chicken - so much better than any of the Korean BBQ joints. Another was the typical Viet chicken salad. There was also a grilled chicken w/sticky rice. All were so tasty! We also ordered the mango salad which had squid, shrimp, and with taro strips. So refreshing. The dish that I was totally craving was the "deep fried" fish - it was so perfectly baked; we didn't think that they fried it but the skin was so crispy while the fish was moist. This came with lettuce, cucumber, mint to wrap. They brought out both regular rice and BROWN rice paper to wrap. The tamarind sauce was the perfect sweet and spicy. Must order this as soon as it arrives because it takes 30-35 mins. All of this for 4 ppl at lunch was ~$140 + tip. This was so reasonable especially since three of us had a $120 + tip bill at J Zhou for a ridiculously small amount of dim sum this week.Service was pretty good - the server was super nice but didn't speak a lot of English. My friend thought that we ordered the fish but turned out we didn't so it was a bit of a wait for it but well worth it.Bathroom and the restaurant are both so, so clean for a Vietnamese restaurant. I wanted a nicer ambiance for lunch so we did get this.I can't wait to come back!

Food is decent, nothing mentionable.Service (or lack of) is sub par.The boy server/ cashier just try to hustle for cash by charging 4% fee for credit card payment. He never showed the checks or gave the receipts ( We thought it was unintentional the first time but the second time?? )

The food was very good and cooked fresh. My son really enjoyed his fish fried rice and plum drink. The furniture inside and decor needs some updating.

I’ll start with the restaurant - which is nice and pleasant. Decor shows some thought. You can even say it’s a nice place to sit and eat. And then there’s the food. I’ve given it thought and this is what I want to say - go elsewhere. The chicken I ordered was dry and uninspired. The clay pit rice did not have the classic burnt rice that’s required for the dish. And the crispy chow mein was somehow not fried correctly so that the noodles were in bits and pieces. And the stir fry that topped the noodles was not proportional to the dish - it was sparse to say the least. On to the service. All I want to say was that the server was more interested in what was on his phone than the customers on the restaurant. That’s all I can say. Final thoughts? Go elsewhere.

They have this special 7 course chicken thing or something like this where they give you a medley of their best chicken dishes. It's really quite good. Get this. This was the best thing I had out of all the dishes we got.

Food was good and service was good. I really liked the oc huong (escargot) fried in garlic butter.

My friend said that they have the best chicken dishes here, so we decided to check them out. We were the only ones at the restaurant, so it didn't look promising, although we did feel like VIP's. We shared the Yang Chow fried rice, rice with roasted chicken, garlic noodles with shaken beef filet mignon, and the grilled chicken with sticky rice. All of the dishes were really yummy. The filet mignon was really tender and garlic noodles were great! The two chicken dishes were similar, even though one was supposed to be roasted and the other- grilled. It was very flavorful and crunchy! Everyone at our table checked in and got a free dessert as well! It was just a scoop of ice cream with some nuts on top.Overall, the food is very authentic and delicious. I'm glad that they have many more dishes besides chicken, since I usually don't order chicken at restaurants.

Haven't been here in a while and wow! Taste just as good as I remembered! Their rice dish with chicken house special sauce (#96) is so tasty! Service is very friendly and it feels really clean here.//CONTEXT//I came here on a Friday around 2:30 pm so it wasn't busy at all - came by myself. There was one other party probably due to the off hour it wasn't busy.//ENVIRONMENT//Feels like a Vietnamese restaurant lol. Mismatched vibes, nice table cloths but felt like could be a karaoke bar at night (which I think is true!). Super clean bathrooms - surprised how clean it was! It seems like they are going to host a small event party at the back because they had banners for a college reunion in the back. Good amount of tables for smaller parties to mid size parties!//FOOD//I recall getting the house special chicken last time and wanted to try it again! It tasted just as good as I remembered but this time with way more meat than I remember! Perfectly crispy but not overly fried chicken with this delicious sauce, onions and bell peppers and that sauce with rice is perfection! On the menu you can choose your protein and being "Ga Bistro" i feel like you have to have the chicken!//SERVICE//Friendly server. Had a younger gentleman help us out. //PRICE//** they do not take credit, only debit!**$12 for this dish//OVERALL//I'll be back! A true hidden gem!

Excellent food and service. My parents come here often and recommended it to us. We ordered the combination sizzling seafood platter, fried chicken in nuoc mam, mango and fried taro shrimp and squid salad, and three orders of the roasted chicken rice plate. Everything came out hot and fresh. Dipping sauces were delicious. The salad was my favorite. Such good flavors and generation portions.Nuoc mam fried chicken wings were juicy, crispy and flavorful. Sizzling seafood platter consisted of escargot butter garlic, clams, skewered prawns, and we substituted the soft shell crab for fried frog legs. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked. The roasted chicken entrees were good portions as well. Crispy skin with tender juicy meat. Our waiter was a young gentleman who was very helpful in suggesting what to order for our first time. We will be going back as we visit OC quite frequently.

Food was great. I've been a few times and would definitely come back. Some portions are way too big, some are too small. It's hard to know which could be shareable vs for yourself only.Service was friendly, the team was accommodating for dietary restrictions and did a great job recommending options. Also, for the premium pricing already, I wish they would take credit card instead of insisting on cash or debit. Just bake the credit card processing fees in the over pricing. It's more convenient for customers.Parking: Plenty of parking in the strip mall complex lotDietary restrictions: They can were able to accommodate for ginger, beef, celery, and egg allergies.
