The ambiance was amazing! Can't believe I've never been here before, definitely coming back. The sushi was amazing, especially for its price. Quality fish!!!! Great service from Tuan.

Walked in and felt like I was in little Tokyo again. Decor is cute, a bit dramatic but who doesn't want to pretend they're in Japan?! Went here on a Saturday evening at almost 8. Ordered the following from my favorite to meh: Spider roll $18 Rainbow roll $20 Yellowtail collar grill. $20 Sushi: cod, unagi, amberjack. About $8 2 each Small Sapporo (?) $90 not including tip and I couldn't say I was even mildly satisfied. Honestly, the food wasn't spectacular. It's not the best but not the worst. Price points are on the higher end. I will not likely come back considering portion size doesn't match cost. Service was good and attentive even though their kitchen forgot our yellowtail collar.

The sushi here is some of the freshest we've ever had, and it's all presented so nicely. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the waiter was so nice. Service was perfect and we'll definitely be back.

The decor is very nice, the service is super friendly & attentive, and the food is very fresh and presented beautifully. Highly recommend Uni if you want fresh and good sushi.

Many other sushi places I'd recommend in OC... The sushi was not bad- quality and presentation were good. We had the yellowtail carpaccio, hand rolls, and some sushi. The prices weren't bad at all in my opinion. However the service... it was terrible. There were only two other small tables in the restaurant during our time there, and at least two servers. But for some reason we were hardly checked on. We never got waters we asked for and didn't fill my empty tea cup until I had to ask. But worst of all they forgot our food, TWICE! They never brought our miso soups. When I bought it up our waiter said sorry, so I was like forget it it's fine because the sushi came out so quick anyway. But when we ordered another round of sushi (4 orders total) they didn't bring out two of them! And then our server left the two unmade orders on the bill. We waited over ten minutes for him to come back so we could tell him to remove it but he never came so we had to go look for him ourselves. In a busy restaurant these things never bother me, but the place was empty and the servers were just standing around in the back! Overall, we hardly saw our servers and it was hard to get their attention without getting up from the table. Very disappointing, and will not be coming back here. I do feel bad for the chefs who prepared our food, because it was great and this place could be much busier! But the service is really unbearable.

This was our second time here and both times we had an amazing time the waiters were absolutely amazing and friendly. Both times helped us with taking our pictures and even told us what to hold to take pictures. Went above and beyond for us. Went there tonight to celebrate my birthday and the sale bomb was delicious. The ambiance was very relaxing. Thank you to the staff for going above and beyond to help take our photos with my husband.

Sushi rolls are TINY, for the price it is definitely not worth it. Very little rolls with small amounts of protein. If you normally eat 2 rolls you would have to at least eat 4 rolls here. Would not recommend

My wife and I recently enjoyed a delightful dinner at Uni Japanese Restaurant. She opted for the Omakase 13-course meal with live uni, and every dish was a perfect blend of freshness and deliciousness. Personally, I chose the large live shrimp sashimi, soft shell crab, and fatty tuna sashimi, all of which were impeccably prepared. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar, where Chef Eddie skillfully served us. His expertise and attention to detail added to the overall enjoyment of our dining experience. The dinner at Uni Japanese Restaurant was a culinary delight, leaving us thoroughly satisfied with both the food and the service.

I love eating Sushi and eat at many places, but if you haven't tried this place yet, I recommend you give it a try. It wasn't a waste because I took the whole family out to dinner. Every dish is delicious. The chef makes excellent sushi, and the reception staff is very courteous and considerate. See you next time, Uni Restaurant.

Got bamboozoled by all the Ig posts I saw on my feed. Both my husband and I were very disappointed when we decided to come here for dinner. For the price we paid, we expected the fish to be fresher and the presentation to be better. When compared to other restaurants with similar price points, Uni is definitely lacking. Overall the food was just average and very underwhelming.

Like many other recent reviews, my girlfriend and I came here based off of a viral social media post. Although not much differed from our experience compared to the post, the restaurant misses the spot. For $125/person, we got the 13 omakase course with live Uni. The Uni was a full color and although it is "fresh", it's probably one of the worst quality Uni I've ever had. The first one I was served with I had to send back because it was VERY bitter (we chalked it up to a bad Uni). The replacement one was fine, but not as creamy and sweet as I expected. Out of the 13 courses, not including Uni, we rated about six courses a 10/10. The rest were a complete miss - either the quality of the fish was terrible or the flavors were not for our palette. The service was attentive. However, I did notice that one server used the restroom and washed his hands without soap. We didn't say anything to management because we were already done eating, but now looking back something like this should be nipped in the bud as that's very gross. The ambiance seemed a bit overkill as well, but it was cute. Overall, we are glad we tried it but won't be coming back. For the price, there is MUCH higher quality Omakase.

Omg hands down BEST OMAKASE EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD! Every piece of sushi was exquisite & unique and refreshing. They really put a twist on everything here. & I am obsessed with the fact that the UNI and even the shrimp is LIVE here. Service was impeccable. Our chef Yoshi was so enthusiastic about his work & and we really appreciated the extra freebies he gave us too! The owner also gave us ice cream on the house too! The general vibe of this restaurant is very upbeat and hip. Like a mix of urban Japanese with traditional style. We really enjoyed every aspect of our experience here. Left this place all smiles. the servers were great too. Anyways 5 STARS is not enough. WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK HERE! I am obsessed!

This is just a rating for the omakase sushi. Fresh uni is really good, but the rest of the sushi was just regular. It's got a lot of hype from tik tok or Instagram reals. Only the uni is worth it. Other places have better omakase sushi. I haven't tried the kitchen menu so I can't say anything about that. Sushi is definitely over priced for taste. Atmosphere is kinda nice but too flashy. Service is good.

Uni restaurant is a nice restaurant with warm atmosphere, and very fresh seafood. I would like to give a 5 stars but was disappointed and feel cheated that their famous large Uni came with only 1/3 of the meat inside. I believe that the other 2/3 was scooped out by the chef for other dishes. Just watch on the large Uni when you ordered. Make sure that the Uni is not carved out for some other customers.Anthony
