This is a Spanish meat market and deli. They have amazing hams and cheeses, everything one needs to make paella, wine, olives, etc. They also have a small menu. The two sandwiches on it are amazing. The imported Serrano ham and Iberico ham sandwiches are made on crusty bread that is heated to order. The people who work here are very pleasant and they are busy. They are primary a Spanish food distributer. But their sandwiches are great. It has a very small market vibe. It's not fancy. But it's very good.

Call a day before or Sat AM to reserve Paella before driving. They have Jamon Ibirico in the freezer & counter.Bocadillo de la Casa sandwich is phenomenal. It was my first time to go today. I did call the day before but was not informed to reserve a Paella order so it was gone by the time I got there after lunch.

I'm from Spain,as are the wonderful owners, this is the ONLY authentic market in S. California that has TRULY Spanish (not like most other Hispanic markets lump together products from other Hispanic countries which claiming to be "Spanish")La Española Meats produces a diverse assortment of AUTHENTIC in-house made NON-spicy Spanish varieties of chorizos/cured sausages which tasteEXACTLYlike the various Spanish regional varietiesThey also are a small market that carries many imported ready to eat traditional items cheeses, paella specific rice varieties, canned seafood, bottles tapas, along with ingredients to enjoy and make many regional dishes.A great selection of regional Spanish wines, etc. SADLY, their paella is unexpectedly ...ATROCIOUS, despite the owners being from Valencia, because it is mushy and bland lacking in authentic flavor . Paella is my favorite dish which I've enjoyed deliciously prepared countless times in restaurants and ESPECIALLY as the main meal prepared at home or by friends each time I'm back in Spai The only possible explanation would be that since the staff is predominantly not from Spain, they do their best to reproduce the recipe...which having the Spanish owners on site seems like a lack of quality control .The SPANISH churros (without sugar or cinnamon) are authentic as is the HEAVENLY thick TRUE hot chocolate which is a traditional breakfast item. I actually prefer the delicious Mexican variety with sugar and loads of cinnamon though I'd have to bring my own ready spice mix .FYI heavenly Spanishhot chocolate(cocoa) is a T-H-I-C-K luxuriously velvety elixir same as the FrenchLe Chocolat Chaud, ItalianCioccolata Calda, and Portuguese Cacau Quente recipes that is made with solid chocolate, whole milk/cream(NEVER water)and a touch of sugar, cornstarch, and often a dash of vanilla. We can the "Swiss Miss" varieties "DIRTY dishwater" I'm droolingnow and so will YOU once you stop by and enjoy a "trip to Spain" here at La Español

I've been coming to this place for years for Saturday Paella. Saturday Paella is the day that this tiny Spanish shop/deli (the primary business is wholesale distribution to restaurants) serves Paella to the public in large single serving amounts. You should order in advance to ensure what you want is there for you. There are three types of paella offered (house, mixed, seafood), some tapas, and a sandwich. I visited this past Saturday to grab some Paella and a bocadillo (Spanish sandwich) to go. I had not ordered in advance so I called ahead to see if they had availability and could hold items for me. They were kind enough to check and were able to put everything I wanted on hold. The pricing for food is extremely reasonable and I would say inexpensive for what you get. My tab for three paella and two bocadillo, more than enough to feed five, was less than my last tab for five foot longs at Subway (yes, that Subway). And, unlike Subway, there is no skimp on quality or taste. The paella is excellent, comparable to a formal sit down restaurant just not served in the pan. The sandwich is filled w high quality Spanish deli meats and cheese.Although I did to go this time around, I highly recommend eating there at least once on a Saturday. Where else can you get a selection of imported Spanish beers for $2.95? The last Saturday of each month, there is live entertainment.

This is what I love about being in Los Angeles!!!You can find the best places hidden away in the most unique places!!The last Saturday of the month, there is FLAMENCO show from 12-2pm. Come early to a table. Get some paella, tapas, churros etc. While you wait!!! There's also a market. Do some shopping!!! Lots of good things!!!They have wine, imported olive oil, olives, caviar, candy, sweets & meats all imported from Spain!!! You have to get the "JAMON". It's worth it!!!! And don't forget the baguette!!!!!They have a cute patio area to sit & enjoy the show!

I don't remember how I learned of this specialty shop for Spanish gourmet products but I came to check it out and it's a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, they do have excellent imported products like various conserva, imported Spanish cheese and sausages. I got an excellent chistorra among other things! But when I ordered a tortilla it turns out it's some frozen stuff that was so pathetic, I should really have taken a photo to show as proof. It's easy enough to make a tortilla and they're not even making that out of their own kitchen?? I'm curious how the paella would be..So.. Come here for the pantry goods. But I hesitate to try their food based on that initial experience.

My wife made her first pallela. The owner was so kind to help us with appetizers, wines and beer! He was so proud to share his heritage... now I want to go to Spain!! Who knew this amazing market is in Lomita?!! Can't wait to go again.

Look no further if you want specialty high quality foods from Spain. The chorizo is delicious and though it took 20 minutes for them to make my sandwich who can be made when they baked the bread to order? ;)

One of my favorite markets in LA. Everything we try here is delicious. Some of my top favorites are la teja fig marimalade, olatu txakoli, their home brew of iberico ham, don juana brand cantimpalitos, butifarrita, and morcilla de cebolla, v de navarra cheese, fabada bean stew kit, alhambra reserva 1925 beer, and tortas gavino orange tortas. We recently received a catalog in the mail that we could order from as well. Very old school, but we love it! It's on our coffee table now and it's fun to flip through and salivate over the pictures.

This is a place I would have NEVER gone to or found. IM BLOWN AWA. Such kind wonderful staff. Danny taught me all about meat and aging meat. I love with the acorn fed aged pork. Wow AND I HATE pork! Came here for my best friend Anthony's 60th birthday. We had so much food, cheese, meats, bread and wine. Thank you. I definitely recommend the PALETA IBERICO DE BELLUL MARCOS SOTOSERRANO ACORN-FED IBERICO DE BELLOTA HAM IMPORTED FROM, SPAIN RESERVA - MINIMUM 48 MONTHS AGED with the manchego cheese and fresh baked bread. Yum Never have I ever been to a unique place like this. Thank you Anthony Gordon for introducing me to this wonderful restaurant and store.

What a lovely hidden gem! The market inside was FULL of Spanish delights... meats, cheeses, wines and other accoutrements that tempt the senses. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy some of the made-to-order paella and WOW, what an amazing flavor! We even got to enjoy a flamenco dancer and Spanish guitarist, which perform the last Saturday of the month. We came with friends whose family has been coming to La Española for decades. The owner came to our table to introduce himself to us newbies. I could tell that he takes a great sense of pride in the business, and it came through in both quality/flavor of the food and warmth of his character. We will DEFINITELY be coming back and supporting this business for years to come.

''I realized very early the power of food to evoke memory, to bring people together, to transport you to other places, and I wanted to be a part of that.'' - Jose AndresThe Mrs. and I love Paella. She probably loves it more than I do. She found La Española Meats and we decided to try it yesterday for lunch.First of all, I'll say that if you want to enjoy your Paella with Flamenco and free wine tasting, you MUST visit La Española Meats the last Saturday of the month. And if you want Paella on any Saturday of the month, you have to call and order it ahead of time. You can't arrive and order it. La Española Meats is not really a restaurant. It is a gourmet market/deli that specializes in Spanish food and wine. They have quite a large wine selection that is very budget friendly. Most Spanish wines are very easy on the wallet and very good. The Mrs. called the day before and ordered the Seafood Paella. When we arrived we also purchased a bottle of wine and the Bocadillo de la Casa, which was a sandwich that was beautifully prepared with Serrano Ham, red peppers, cheese, and placed between two slices of crusty bread. For the food, wine, and two small tins of spices(Not used for lunch.), we paid $51. A BARGAIN!!!Our Paella was at room temperature. So if you're expecting hot off the pan, you probably won't get that. It was still good and flavorful. La Española Meats has a small patio outside for diners to enjoy their meal. It fills up fast so I suggest arriving early. Especially on the last Saturday of the month. We arrived around 11:30 and were able to easily find a table. The Flamenco stage is int he patio area as well.La Española Meats sits in an industrial area. Not the prettiest spot. The building is rather unassuming and sit on a small side street off of Lomita Blvd. There is a small lot in front, but we were easily able to find parking on the street when we arrived. When we left around 1:30 and there wasn't any parking left.I noticed a lot of native speakers while we were dining. Meaning, people speaking Castilian Spanish. That says a lot about the place.
