Five stars for food...They really have nice fresh fish fried to perfection! The fish was crispy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Not oily, not overcooked, the way fish should be.Korean wings was very nice and flavorful. Have to try the other Korean dishes next time. But, the restaurant is a little cluttered and not laid out well. Color scheme is dark and not attractive or enticing to eat there. Could use a designer to make the environment more warm and upbeat Like their TV's is a plus!I hope success for them!

Service has something to be desired making changes is to hard for them small simple changes I asked for my fries in a separate bag from my fish and got a rough complicated answer to say no this seems like a simple thing to me yes the fish was cooked good the first time I went but the second and third times the grease was old and fries were brown and smelly I am dropping them the restaurant is greasy in the air I really give them less than a star

I've been remiss in not reviewing one of my favorite Hayward spots sooner. I've never eaten in, so I'm only reviewing the take-out which is fantastic. This is a southern style fish fry spot that is exactly what the doctor ordered when you are in the mood. Crinkle fries, panko fried shrimp, hush puppies all to accompany fried fish. Cod, cat or sole corn or English batter fried deliciousness. There is a certain legitimaticy that comes with sending hot sauce along.

I went there on a Monday at noon. I was the only person there. I felt bad for the 2 workers as I'd expect them to be busier during lunch time I got the 3 piece Cod Fish n Chips. The batter wasn't that great though the 3 pieces of fish were a good size. Not enough fries though! Though I like supporting local businesses, there are many other places I'd rather go as the food and service were just OK. There's likely a reason I was the only one there. I truly hope this business survives, I just wish the food tasted better.

I paid $9.75 for two pieces of catfish and chips. What I got was more like two halves of one catfish and a sprinkling of chips. Jay's Fish & Chips was recommended by family and I am thoroughly disappointed with what I received. I will go farther and pay more at my standby London Fish & Chip (18890 Hesperian Blvd., North Hayward). While they don't have catfish their menu is always consistent and worth the price.

Just called to place an order for pickup & was told to call back in 20 minutes because they were on their lunch break. I asked if they could take my order since we were on the phone already, that way when they were off of their lunch break they can start preparing it. I was 20 minutes away anyways-coming from work & they hung up on me!!!My thing is why answer the phone on your lunch break, just to tell someone to call back in 20 minutes? They either shouldn't have answered at all, or simply taken the order and asked how long before my arrival. This way I wouldn't have to wait 20 minutes to call, then place the order and then wait another 15 minutes. I could've just ordered ahead of time walked in and waited the remainder amount of time it took. What makes me more upset other than being hung up on-is that I order from them often. Very rude. Will not be returning.

Best fish and chips in this area. I selected the cod fish and chips. Crispy crust and cod perfectly cooked and a generous serving. Haven't had battered fish and chips this good for a long time. Very yummy. Will definitely revisit to buy this and try other menu items as well. Chris

The food is great, and they have a good variety of fish types and sides to choose from. Everything from the fish, shrimp, oysters are all fresh and tasty. They also serve Korean fried chicken wings which are really delicious. Their cole slaw is okay but mostly just mayo and cabbage. Also they skimp on the fries; really tiny amount with any meal.Their restaurant lacks atmosphere but it's clean. The person who takes your order is a little short but not rude. She is just a matter of fact in personality.Overall a great little place for fish and chips. A little pricey but what isn't these days.

I lived in Hayward for 2 years from 2016 to 2018 and I would always come here..best fried fish i have ever had. I haven't been here for a few years and I am thinking of taking a trip to Hayward for a few days just for the food alone! I miss having the fish sandwich and fries..

It wasn't the greatest fried foods I've had. A little heavy for my taste.I ate at an off hour maybe better during lunch or dinner.Parking: A little tough getting into their parking.

I had the cod with English batter, calamari, and fries for lunch. It was tasty, but unfortunately it terribly upset my tummy and ruined the rest of my work day ?

Got the calamari, sole, and cod. All three were good and had enough to feed six. The restaurant was clean and would love to go back.Parking: Parking lot in back

Went here with a couple of friends. Parking is limited in the back. Seems like most call in and do the takeout route.A bit stuffy inside upon entering. Ordered at the counter. The menu is quite lengthy with fish and chips, rice bowls, wings, other seafood items, etc.I got the combo with the 2 piece fish, 2 piece prawn and 2 oysters. Also got a side of fried mushrooms and a bottled drink (no fountains here). For the fish, I got the cod which defaults to English batter. Super big pieces. I'm glad I didn't get the 5 piece combo. My thought was if they have a 5 piece, it must be small pieces. The 2 alone can feed 2 people easily. Nonetheless, nice crunch throughout. And the fish was nice and flaky and not dry at all. The crinkle fries were seasoned. The fried mushrooms were decent. The shrimp was chunky with a nice crunch. The oysters were surprisingly big and breaded. The tartar sauce was okay. I like vinegar on my fried seafood and they had those in bottles. They also had hot sauce, but I really wished there was a little more heat and spice. The food held it's heat the entire meal. I was burning my mouth from the very first bite to the last. I didn't even finish my food since there was so much.If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely stop by again.
