The quality of food has went down and the price has went up. It's unfortunate because I grew up eating here with my family. The only thing that was still good is their Fried Shrimp Cake.

This is an excellent and extremely authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I have been buying Bun bo Hue at this place for more than 10 years. No other Vietnamese restaurants in Castro Valley, Concord and Walnut Creek beat the taste of this dish.The price is reasonable. The taste is unique. Give it a try and you know what I write here is the truth.

I wanted to like this place as a vietnamese person, but it wasn’t very good.The interiors were messy with toys strewn all over. I understand if they need to look after their kid while working, but it wasn’t a good look combined with the cluttered feeling.The broths seem like the use an excessive amount of sugar or msg. msg is definitely great for flavor, but the amount they used ended up overpowering any amount of natural sweetness from the daikon, vegetables used to make the base of the soup. I’d recommend you stick to the rice plates and grilled meats if you’re looking to give it a try. I ordered the thit nuong, and it was nice and smoky.Spruce up your decor and work on your broths, there will be major improvement!

STARS: 2.5 MENU AND FOOD: They offer the typical variety of pho noodle soups and rice plates. SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service is quick and efficient. Their dining room decor is dated and visibly dirty; their bathrooms are even worse. They do have plenty of indoor seating. PARKING: Located in a small plaza, they have a parking lot with plenty of space. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: I was a former long time customer of their 3 locations. Their restaurant used to be cleaner, and the broth used to be deep and flavorful. However, as of a few years ago, their broth profile has decreased significantly and instead tastes as if supplemented by some type of pre-packaged seasoning. Their spring rolls are tiny with minimal ingredients inside. I know that pho restaurants are often not the cleanest, and I am always willing to overlook that aspect in light of their broth quality and taste, but they have let their sanitary standards go too far.

It's all about the broth baby, and the pho here is some of the best, IMO. If you want fancy décor and a hoity toity atmosphere, this isn't the place, but if you just want a great bowl of pho, I think they have the best in the area. Their cold shrimp rolls are also really good. I have not tried the rice and dry vermicelli dishes here, so I can't vouch for them, but they look good coming out of the kitchen. Consistently great pho here!
