Definitely did not expect this random unassuming place to be so charming with a delightful back patio. The whole vibe transported me to Mexico and I almost forgot that I was in Hayward near a freeway. I said to my partner “I don’t even care if the food is good, this is my new favorite place”I got the avocado toast and iced chai. Both were delicious and satisfying. Especially the bread which was totally worth breaking my diet for! The bacon I stole out of my partner’s sandwich was also excellent. He told me to mention that the coffee was great which is high praise from someone who only buys artisan coffee from a local roaster.

Can't believe I haven't had the chance to review Romo's Cafe in months! Delicious pork El Desperdicio sandwich with very fresh herb flavors and a tasty sample of their fluffy chia pudding from the owners. The storefront doesn't look appealing, but it opens to a very welcoming, tiny cafe with a good amount of patio space as well.

Their strawberry banana crepe was super yummy. My friend had chia bowl and she enjoyed it too. We ate in the patio and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was so happy to discover this place.

Came here for brunch, ended up getting my food at lunch.Looking through the reviews I don’t understand how more people aren’t talking about the unreasonable wait or service. It took about an hour to get our food and during that time we saw multiple people served before us, a family ask for a refund due to the wait, and generally service that seemed discombobulated.When we first arrived and it was our turn to order we asked for a bit more time to review the menu. After a minute (at the most) we stepped forward to place our order but the same lady seemed to ignore us and we had to wait a few minutes for someone else to notice us. In Spanish this second lady asked the first if we had already placed our order to which the first responded that she waited but we were taking our time (guess she didn’t think we understood). After we had paid they told us it might take a bit longer due to a few parties that were there before us. What they didn’t warn us about was the number of ppl that would arrive after us and receive their food first, or that generally our party was not going to be prioritized - like when we asked twice for water but during that time multiple parties placed & received their complex drink orders.This place has a lot going for it since it’s a local shop with a nice environment and food, but the service made the experience so bad I won’t be coming back.

Stumbled on this place by coincidence and I couldn't be happier. Food was fresh delicious and great atmosphere. Will definitely come again. Try their cafe de olla and chipotle chicken. They gave us samples of the chia pudding which was also incredible.

Love this spot. We used to go to their location in Oakland, and this was our first time visiting this location. El tren sandwich was great, and their cafe de olla is the best. We didn’t have their chia pudding this time around, but that was a standout when we visited them in Oakland. Love all the decorations inside, and the back patio is a nice place to hang out.

Such a gem!! You must try the cafe de olla along with the chia pudding- amazing! We inhaled the baguette sandwiches so you already know those were so good. I loved the outside seating area where you can soak up the sun and slow down while you enjoy some delicious food. We will need to stop here every time we’re in the area. The owner is the sweetest and will check in to see if you’re fully enjoying your meal + cafécito ❤️

Tried their Chipotle Chicken and Veggie Sandwiches. Both were equally amazing. They come with a side of leafy greens salad. Recommend their cappuccino and expresso. They carry a variety of hot sauces that you can try with your sandwiches. Service was quick.Vegetarian options: Rarely do I find places which make good veggie sandwiches! I am glad to have found this place, this is going to be my go-to place for sandwiches!!
