Amazing experience. Pedro and Pamela are very knowledgeable about wines. The place is very cozy and cool history of the winery. There were also 2 adorable puppies in the property.

Lovely setting, you can sit out on their front porch or go inside at the bar, you can order a cheese plate to have with your tasting. The dog is great. The staff is very welcoming and are happy to explain everything to you. Their wines are very reasonably priced.

We visited AVV on the Sonoma Wine Road weekend and had an excellent experience. Their flight of wines was very nice and smooth, all the servers were very friendly, and after all the wine drinking, we appreciated the Southwest chili served with the Syrah at the very end. We'd definitely purchase their wines from here on. Nicely done ?

Showed up at 4:07 as part of the Sonoma Wineroad event. There were just two of us and no one after us. Tasting room was not crowded. Turned us away. Didn’t feel good.

Even though this vineyard may be a bit out of the way, it is well worth the trip. The wine was delicious, the tour of the wine cave was fun and informative, and our guide was very knowledgeable. Best of all, the tastings are a bargain compared to the cheap pours and high costs at so many of the other vineyards. The people that worked at the vineyard were all super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. My family really enjoyed our time here and would absolutely recommend it for groups, couples, and even families with children.Thank you for a great experience.

Decades of history, family and beauty surround this estate. . . and when you see it, smell it and taste it, you'll understand why because with history, family and beauty Alexander Valley Vineyards surpasses lovely!! My husband and I visited during harvest in early November [it was our 40 and 10 celebration, my first visit to CA and without the kids!] We saw first-hand what it takes to produce an extraordinary Cabernet! From quality control to pressing grapes and barrel aging in caves, AVV knows how to build character and (to put it simply,) "great wine!" We also had the pleasure of meeting Harry Wetzel, owner and original winemaker at AVV. His casual charm and simplicity - plus those suspenders! - but attention to detail took our breath away! The tasting room was also inviting, serving as a common place to learn and taste all Alexander Valley has to offer. Staff members were familiar with the history of the estate and thoroughly enjoyed sharing in the everyday stories dating back to Alexander himself. We look forward to returning. . . maybe this time we'll visit the old schoolhouse and the special place a top the hill, but until then; sip, savor and enjoy AVV!!!

Wonderful winery to visit. Gracious helpful staff and wines that over deliver on their price points!!

We made an advance reservation for the free wine cave tour at 12. We were the first to arrive but soon found there were 12 people expected. Only six arrived in time for the tour to begin. Their group included children, which are welcome on the tour. The winery might consider an age limit as our tour included a hyperactive 5 year old that frequently disrupted the tour. We missed allot of details and felt bad for Pedro, our tour guide. Tour is great, esp as it's free. After that we had a wine tasting with Pedro. He was very friendly and informative. He included the regular list and a couple of extra tastings as well. We enjoyed all the wines we tasted and purchased a few bottles. Their prices are reasonable and it's definitely worth the drive out there. A reservation is not required and the cave tour is twice a day. Fortunately the families with children had tastings on the patio as they aren't allowed in the tasting room. Definitely recommend a visit to Alexander Valley Vineyards

Consistently outstanding wine and service without the attitude. A great little nook, lovely grounds to spend some time, and attentive staff. We make sure we visit every time we are in the area and order wine consistently.

It is always such a treat to visit AVV!It's one of my favorite wineries in wine country - the hospitality is always top notch and the folks in the tasting room are always so friendly. I really enjoy how relaxed and charming the tasting room is - it truly feels like Sonoma. The winery makes some of my favorite Cabernet's in the County and the wines are so affordably priced. I really enjoyed tasting the newer Sauvignon Blanc this year and also the Cyrus is always such a treat to sip.The grounds are so beautiful - lots of gorgeous vistas and being able to take the cave tours are always so fun.Being a dog lover, one of my favorite parts are the winery dogs milling about the grounds. They're super friendly and add to the fun and welcoming vibe at the winery. The tasting room employees will make you feel so welcome and will guide you through their delicious wines at your own relaxed pace.AVV is a must visit if you are in Sonoma - you will love it!

It’s absolutely beautiful. Everyone, including the pets, were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was easy to setup a tour of the caves. We also had time for a tasting. The selection was wonderful. There were unique items we couldn’t resist in the gift shop. I recommend adding them to your itinerary.

Experience is superb! This family winery is large sale but still very close to their hearts. Katie, Hank, Linda and Harry were amazing hosts. Their winemakers were very busy yet still open to answer questions. Highly reccomend!

We felt a bit bamboozled by this tasting experience. We paid $40 pp for a wine and cheese pairing. We arrived at our time and they set us up outside, poured the wines, gave us cheese, and left. Didn’t talk about the vineyards, didn’t give us any explanation or description of any of the wines and didn’t talk about any of the cheese pairings except to say the last cheese was not blue cheese. We ended up having to come inside due to the bees that were landing on us throughout our tasting. Upon looking at the menu we realized it said free tastings excluding reserve wines. Our tasting only included one reserve wine. Overall just not a great experience. We definitely recommend you just show up for a free tasting rather than booking in advance. We did think the property was gorgeous and the wine was good so that counts for something. I’m sure this isn’t standard for them but just what we personally experienced on our honeymoon.

Remarkable wines and remarkable people! The Wetzel family, Tasting Room Manager Pamela and their team are incredibly gracious hosts who with winemaker Kevin Hall are making world class wines! A stunning labyrinth of caves carved into the hillside. A must-visit when in Northern Sonoma!
