TLDR: I highly recommend the 10 piece chef's special. Situation: I don't know if it's because of the demographic of the area or that we're further from the city but it's been so hard to find a good sushi spot. Most of the sushi spots I've seen so far mainly offer rolls / Westernized. So when I saw Otoro had a 10 piece chef's choice for nigiri, I was excited to try it out. Experience: I was very impressed. The chef's choice was like an omakase quality selection. The fish was extremely fresh and delicious. I loved the variety too. I would say this particular order was comparable to those in the city. Why the chef's choice: The difference between the 10 piece chef's special nigiri moriawase and the 10 piece nigiri moriawase is that the chefs special is more fancy. For example it includes pieces like unni (yum), some of the pieces are charred or had fun toppings. It definitely makes the experience much more exciting. Space: I ordered over the phone and gave them my ETA. I got my order correctly and on time which was great. The space itself is pretty cozy. Location: I got a little lost finding Otoro since it's in a plaza with other businesses. The restaurant is located across from hardware stores in the yellow buildings. There's also a free parking lot space behind the restaurant too. A sign might be helpful! Feedback: I might be mistaken but two of my pieces might have been the same. I wasn't too upset because it was one of my favorite pieces but wish each piece was different. This is nitpicky but some of the slices could have been more even but sharing to make the whole presentation A+! I would also explain on the menu the difference between the regular and chef's special 10 piece. Luckily I had called in so learned about the difference. Also wish it was a few dollars less. (Everything was $40 post tax). Overall verdict: For Sonoma County and in comparison to other sushi spots here, the chef's selection was a solid 5 stars. I'm glad I don't need to wait until I visit the city again to find delicious nigiri. I would come back again, and hopefully with other people next time!

I've got to put 5 stars to all for this small sushi spot in Healdsburg. The staff are always friendly and ready to get you into a table. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, once you get your first bite of food, you know you've come to the right place. Delicious rolls, appetizers, udon, hand rolls, baked rolls, bento boxes. This small kitchen packs a punch and its all flavor and quality ingredients. Whether I want to dive in and try some specials or take my favorites to go... I choose Otoro!

I'm so surprised by how fresh the fish was, everything here is so fresh and delicious, more importantly the price is super reasonable compared to the quality we've got from food and service I think worth more than we paid. Staff are so professional, quick, on spot and friendly. Dining room is so pleasant and clean wide variety of food to choose. We had an excellent time here and will definitely be back again soon.

I’ve only came to to this place 4 times but sadly last night I was there I had terrible service the men that have served me and my family before were very polite but the lady was rude went 10 minutes before coming over to the table to get our drink orders, didn’t give us any silverware or napkins until we asked her for some, and waited a long time to get our food order, maybe she was stressed or going with some personal trouble but when I go out it’s to have fun with my family not to get treated with so badly service, I consider myself to be patient and nice to people when it comes to customer service cause I was a server before. Overall Food is delicious and the other staff are friendly I will give it another try but definitely next time I go I’m going to ask for another server.

I LOVED OTORO! They were so warm and inviting when I first entered the restaurant. Quick and thoughtful service. And the rolls were curated to perfection. And there were unexpected surprises at the end of the meal that made me feel truly taken care of. Arigato OTORO.

Their chef's choice like sushi deluxe is surprisingly affordable and their chef knows what he is doing. Everything he gave me was delicious. They mess up my simple to-go order. One item was the wrong roll. Oh how a small mistake can be such a big one. Also, they skimped on the soy sauce. How awful is that? Service was friendly. But they also didn't return a customer's credit card while I was there. The customer had to ask for it back. That's terrible. Sorry to have to thumbs down this place, especially when I appreciate good veggie roll options.

Nice small sushi restaurant popular with locals. There is a typical sushi bar and a separate small dining area with only a few tables that can get crowded. The menu includes some Japanese selections not typically served in a sushi restaurant, like ramen, which I can't comment on. The sushi menu includes common appetizers and the usual sushi standards as well as a long list of creative rolls. The miso soup and cucumber salad are better-than-average, but the tempura items I've tried seem bland. The fish is generally good and well prepared but what I would describe as very "Americanized", tending towards spiced fish (which I personally detest), rolls with tempura fried shrimp and heavy sweet sauces. The service is efficient and polite. The sushi chefs generally do their work without engaging customers, but a senior chef (who is not there every night) will and is quite personable. Prices are not cheap but in line with other sushi restaurants.
Salad dressing yum. Miso soup good. Sashimi fresh. Cooked fish tasty, not dry. I recommend.
