The Mexican food is some of the best in the valley. Service couldn't be any better. Serving the valley since 1987, I'd say El Viejo is doing something right, and that's why people love the him.

This time I ordered 2 taco combo with salad instead of rice and beans. The chips were ok. We got avacado dip and salsa with chips. I asked waitress what was my tacos were cooked in- because it had a great taste. she didn't have an answer. The shredded beef and hamburger fillings were tasty. Although the salad only had lettuce and some cabbage it would have been nice to have tomato included. Good size serving. Our dinners came with complimentary rice pudding. The pudding did have as fresh a flavor, as last time. Waitress service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Music inside was low and very calming.

One a few decent Mexican "hot plate" style joints in the area. Surrounding area is a little rough but enjoyed most of what I tried EXCEPT the chips n salsa. Salsa had a weird bite to it.

Today was date day, and Arturo's was the place that my husband picked. We were greeted at the door by a young man named Eddie who offered us a regular table or booth. We selected the booth. A few things I want to point out is how vibrant all of the decor is. I love the colors so much! It is a joyous place visually! Stacey came over to get our drink orders. She was very kind and brought our water with lemon quickly, along with chips, salsa, and a small side of guacamole. That was pretty surprising because it came with it. We went over the menu while eating the chips with sides. I enjoyed their salsa and guacamole. My husband decided on the shredded beef enchilada plate, and I went with the Arturo's special Lengua #11. My meal came with a choice of soup or salad. I opted for the soup (albondigas). There are not many great places to eat in Hemet, but I am absolutely adding this place as one of my favs. I excused myself to go to the ladies' room (which was clean and semi cute). When I came back, Stacey had brought over two small containers of rice pudding to go. I really enjoyed my food. The service was good, and fun fact... Eddie and Stacey are married. I got to meet the owner and took a picture with him. It was an honor to meet him and his family. It is hard family all working together like that, and it's definitely something to be proud of. Thank you all for a great date day lunch! I can't wait to come back and have more soup!
