We used to rent a beach house in Cayucos every year for 10 yrs This is NOT Santa Maria BBQ... I've tried to TWICE... once for lunch... 2nd time for dinner BOTH times the meats were OLD and gross!!! The lunch was on a Monday so I thought leftovers from weekend... let's give them a pass The next time was Thursday night... I asked the lady... what's FRESH... she said tri-tip... WRONG!!! This place is gross

Great spot for a nice family dinner. Paul suggested delicious entrees and sides. Everything was wonderful. Don't forget to leave room for desert, the cobbler is awesome.

We had dinner here the other night we just wanted to try it out. I ordered the tri-tip and Diana ordered the bowl. We got the collard greens and potato salad and I've got au tell ya potato salad rocks. The tri-tip was very tasty tender and the barbecue sauce was excellent. The collard greens were very good and Diana enjoyed her ball. I wasn't expecting the quality to be this good we were very surprised and pleased they brought over a sample of the brisket and I'll tell you next time we go we're going to get the brisket it was incredible so it was nice and cooked on the outside the way it's supposed to be but pink juicy and it was absolutely delicious You might want to give this place a try. We spent about 20 bucks on a plate for dinner which is very reasonable for what we got ample portions Diane and I could've actually shared the meal but the next time we go and I'm ordering the brisket I'm keeping that offer myself. Check it out. See if I'm not wrong we had a great service. Our glasses were full all the time and they're very sweet people very down to earth and the ambience. It's a little Tucktaway plenty of parking outside, so you don't have to struggle to look for a place and we had a good time. I normally visit on Fridays, and every time the food is excellent! Pulled pork, beef brisket, beans, corn, and Armageddon fries! Service has been awesome, and the ordering from the table. Small quite place, and the tap beer options are awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant!

If you are craving some really good BBQ, this is your place, small hidden gem! Super friendly staff and enjoyed talking with them. As for the BBQ, I don't use sauce on my brisket or tri tip and after going to lots of barbecue joints, you get really good at tasting which places need the sauce to hide the dryness of the meat, well not here at Santa Maria BBQ in Huntington Beach! Feel free to explore the flavor of their cooking/ smoke. Thanks again Paul and the fellas, we will definitely be back!

Wow! The food here was amazing not even kidding. The tacos were the best tacos I've ever had. The pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal. Seriously if you have a chance to swing by, I would highly recommend this place. I'm coming back for sure. Thanks for the great food!

Love this BBQ place!!! The smell as I walked in brought back great memories of having a backyard bbq. The staff was great was greeted and helped out by Manda and the owner. Awesome hospitality from both of them. Very attentive to my needs. I had the brisket and a side of coleslaw, by far the best brisket I’ve had as most tends to be dry and tough. Santa Maria bbq is spot on cant wait to be back to try some of there other menu items as they all look good. Great sauces as well i had the mango habanero and some sweet brown sugar sauce. If your craving bbq you have to come check this place out.

I have had A LOT of BBQ in my life as I lived in the Carolinas for several years of my life, but this place... this place is FANTASTIC. From the moment you step into the intimate sports-bar atmosphere (Seats about 30 people) Michael greeted us both in a very friendly manner and was eager to help us figure out what we would like. Great selection of beers on tap (I went with the Stone Delicious IPA) and had their Brisket Sandwich with Potato Salad, and Michael gave us a fleet of different sauces to have with our meal... each one as amazing as the next! Every single bite was absolute heaven! We also had their Banana Pudding for dessert, one of my favorite desserts and this was THE BEST! My only regrets are not taking a picture of my sandwich and not having a bigger stomach... I stumbled across SM-BBQ by accident and im glad i did. Really good food!! Fresh, good quality, great flavor. Very clean restaurant. You can tell the owner takes pride in what they do. And they serve beer along with good music! Not a large place and that's ok. Good to know for larger parties. Only a few booths and bar area. They do also cater. The owner seems really nice. Glad to see good customer service still exists.Oh and I went with the pork ribs, but it's all good, including the usual sides...lots of options.I will be back, trying the brisket next time.
