Can’t say enough good things about this little smoothie shop! The fresh quality, large quantity, and fair pricing of the smoothies was surprising, since smoothie/juice can be hit or miss. The atmosphere was bright, clean, and inviting. The staff were helpful and cheerfully answered a handful of questions I had about the menu. My smoothie was made quickly and I felt very full and refreshed after snacking here. Highly recommend if you want a bit more of a healthy snack option while touring HB.

Best dessert I've ever had in my life! We had the Crunchy Kale Wrap, Jan's Classic Salad & Jan's Acai Bowl, and it was all amazing! It tasted so fresh, clean & good! We wanted to try a healthy place after a trip to the dog beach and it was just a few minutes away. We put some of the salads avocado cilantro dressing & tagine dressing on the wrap and it was even better! The acai bowl was perfection- it was topped off with sweet and crunch coconut shavings (I think), honey and granola with fresh fruits and I want to have it again soon! Excited to try more menu items later on! ?

Spend time riding bikes on beach path and felt like a healthy meal and remember seeing Jan’s Health bar featured on KTLA news. HB location is north of tourist section on Main st. Was able to park right in front of store and was surprised how roomy it is inside. Outside seating is available. Ordered Jan’s salad, turkey wrap and drink. Food was very fresh and large portions where we took home leftovers. Staff was very helpful with explaining options and ingredients. When back in HB will stop here again.

Nothing says "Surf's Up" like an all-Mexican staff speaking Spanish to each other while white customers shuffle through the front door. Here: you'll find healthy but overpriced food with parsimonious servings of avocados. On the walls: reminiscent photographs that are no longer relevant since this place was bought out, and the present owner doesn't quite capture the original spirit of Jan Gaffney. But her effort is still a nice try. Experience: like time-traveling into a parallel past that somehow tampered and screwed up the present timeline! Friday night and the place only had two customers, an elderly couple who looked like examples from a non-cell phone, by-gone era. Overall: depressing atmosphere.

I have been going to Jan's in HB following from place to place on Mainstreet for more than 30 years. I used to see Jan carrying in the boxes of fresh fruit and veg. I arrived home after living in london for 10 years and ordered my usual soy turkey sandwich with veg and avo. The Turkey slice used to be 8 ounces and now maybe 1.5 to 2 ounce, couldn't even cover the bread. I couldn't even taste it and they missed the sunflower seeds and bacon bits. I raised this and didn't care or show concern.I told them that the turkey was so small I couldn't taste it and they said oh well this is what we serve. Jan as a child going to get a sandwich after surfing and chatting to you I am surprised you let the quality and portion ruined your good name that you worked so hard for.I am sorry to say that because there are so many options I will have second thoughts about where I get my vegetarian sandwiches from. So disappointed and I was your biggest fan.Reply: I am in shock with your response to my post. I can assure you that the portion size when Jan was managing the place was a 1/2 inch or more covering the bread and at least a half avocado.. I know what I ate throughout the years and had several conversations with her about how great her sandwiches were.I am disappointed by the reply because it is night and day; furthermore from 1979 - through the years It was excellent and I could actually taste the soy turkey. I will go back to Costa Mesa, Laguna and Huntington beach to compare. I will take pictures and give a follow up review. I want the customer to get what they pay for and because you turned this into a chain, COG's seems more important to turn a bigger profit and yesterday I didn't see value for money.Thank you.Vegetarian options: So disappointed and if this changes and I can taste the soy turkey in my sandwich I will go back, I used to tell people you were the only option for food in Huntington Beach

I’ve eaten at Jan’s for years, but the quality and value has gone down. Here’s why:1. A ten dollar smoothie that was mostly ice and had very little flavor.2. A twenty dollar sandwich that had a very thin layer of turkey and a sweet, seedless wheat bread that seems as if it was purchased at the Dollar Tree. Not so good, for a 72 dollar bill( with the new mandatory style pre-tipping system that has been adopted everywhere) for three people. For a sandwich I could make better at home AND a ground ice drink.I’ll also add one more:3. Workers who have no idea about the Jans of 40 years ago and seem to know know nothing about its history in HB.

Literally NEVER read the order instructions for the salad dressing. Why allow someone to select dressing options if you are going to ignore them?? Incredibly frustrating!!Thanks for the reply Jan's. I had just gotten my lunch and was in a meeting, hence the frustration.I should add - the food is great - 5 stars as I noted... and that just makes the small not-excellent things that much more obvious.

One of our favorite places for sandwiches of all time!If it’s your first time I would HIGHLY recommend the Jan’s classic sandwich with the chicken or tuna salad, it’s the best item on the menu. Also would highly recommend the Cobb salad, if that’s more your pace. Also the place smells amazing. That’s just a bonus!
