On days other bbq spots were closed this one was open, which to me always 1 ups the competition, if they have better hours overall. When they first opened I came by to try them out and had a burger but it wasn't good enough to want me to come back and try the bbq but craving bbq and this was close and open I gave it a shot. I ordered a 3 meat combo w 2 sides for delivery and when my food arrived, I don't know if it was due to packaging or negligence but the entire bag was messy with food all over the place. The next shocker was the amount of food for the price, 2 ribs, 1 link and a quarter wing and breast with beans, Mac n cheese came to $35.61. In comparison I can get more for less at other establishments that are still good quality if not better. I wasn't impressed from how it looked and it also didn't have the wafting aromatics like bbq should which made me wonder how do they truly cook their food. Do they use a grill, smoker, broiler? After speaking with a previous employee they said they originally used a flat top but could be using a grill with wood. After looking at other reviews people mentioned dining there and not seeing or smelling bbq. I actually had to throw my food in the air fryer to get more of that crisped up glaze texture you get from an open fire. Surprisingly the sauce and seasoning on the meat was delicious and I enjoyed every last morsel, the sides included. However it wasn't good enough for me to want to spend that price again for the amount and quality. I do recommend giving this spot a try but just know there's better bbq out there.

This is my second time here, came on a Sunday about a week ago, I still had a taste for a Hot Link so I came today. As before I place my order over the phone. When I called the gentleman answered the phone like he was at the house (Hello), had to asked was this the Bar b que place, last time same thing plus he was talking to other people in the back ground. Told them to hold on let him take this order. I placed my order for the Hot Link sandwich side of potatoes salad. I asked how long he told me to give him 25 minutes. I decide to go in after about 15, there were at least 4 works gather at the entrance and the younglady sitting asked how can help me, told her I placed a phone order. She told me to go to the window and let them know, which I did. Lady there asked for my name and said she did not have a phone order for me. Told her the guy took my order and told me 25 minutes, I told her I'm glad I didn't wait 25 minute. She goes that not a problem I can have it up in 10 minutes since they are not crowded. I got my order, walk to my car and proceeded to open to eat, as before my food was not hot (heat), slightly warm, when I was here a week ago same thing not hot. I like my hot (heat). The potatoes salad had a good taste but on tonight it had a lot of celery in it. Made it really crunchy not my preference. Gave them two tries, don't think I will go for a third. I prefer my food Hot. (heat).

The Goods: This spot is very casual, inviting, warm and pleasant, the staff are AMAZING, and the food is Great. I like that in LA fashion they give you the option to have meat and side combination options, Me and wifey shared a plate for our first time.. next time we'll bring the family. The ambiance is really cool and I enjoy the music and vibes. The Afro beats playing in the background is a great selection for a balance between generations. Waitresses Summer and Kaitlyn are THE BEST! Gorgeous, entertaining, witty and diwn to earth, which gives the whole establishment character. The Ugly: Not a big fan of the portion size, but I didn't get much of a huge size. And the Styrofoam takeaway trays don't give the establishment much justice. Atleast get the plastic silverware .

For the fourth of July, I decided to order bbq from the Woods. I have heard how great the brisket is, how wonderful the outside patio is. So I decided to get my family some bbq. I had to park a block away no problem, little brisk walk is good. When i got there the outside patio is cool no judgment there, the establishment is small intimate. I got in line at 1:15pm and there were three people ahead of me and the person at the register had a long order or didn't know what to get. I then hear the lady is taking the orfers, in a gentle but firm voice manage her employee right there on the spot, okay maybe she's been letting things slide and she had to address it this time. The same employee asked if anyone is paying by credit card, I said I am. She take my order I get my receipt and found a place at a table. As I'm watching and waiting, there was three incorrect orders, a couple of customers before me that still didn't get there order. The manager I assume the lady at the register is at this point, shouting at the cooks about an order that came back wrong the bartender taking orders out, the manager telling another employee "you need to be my third set of eye" But I'm patiently waiting and finally my number is called. I get my order and it's light weight and 2pm I'm walking out. I get home open the bag and it's, sorry I didn't tak a picture but for $52.34 it wasn't worth it. The large sides of Mac n cheese and baked beans are actually small and the rib tips came in different sizes from index finger long to chicken nugget size. It was tender and the bbq sauce is good and the bake beans are good as well. The Mac n cheese tasted like powder and no flavor. I have a family of three and the dinner I got was for maybe two, heck I could have eaten it alone. I have yet to fine a black ownerd bbq spot that I like. I always go to Mom's bbq where I could have gotten 33 pieces of rib tips for $27 and actual large sides that me and my family could have eaten a second day of. At Mom's bbq I may have had to place the tips in the oven for a few minutes to tender them.up more, but to me my personal opinion the quality is just as good.

Love the community. It's friendly and the food is bomb. The drinks are amazing. I especially love the DJ on Friday nights. I definitely recommend this place. Sorry I didn't take a pic when I went.

The Good: Customer Service Happy Hour Live Music on Sunday The Bad: Dine-in food served in styrofoam containers with disposable utensils. So bad for the environment and tacky. We didn't even receive wet naps. The food wasn't that good. We didn't smell any smoke. The BBQ sauce was super wet on our meat selections. Potato salad and baked beans were decent. Our drinks, Mai Tai and Guava Margarita were not good. I'd never go back...

Went to The Wood last Sunday on Father's day. My husband and I enjoyed everything about The Wood from the food to the DJ, everything was good. We had spare ribs and they were render and juicy. Our favorite sides were the Mac n cheese and Street corn. Customer service was outstanding! We were greeted upon arrival and out waitress was constantly coming to ask if we needed anything. We'll definitely dine at The Wood again. Highly recommend .

Service is TRASH, food is mediocre at best! I should've know from the moment we arrived that we were about to have a horrible experience. Initially there was a mixup regarding our table, security rectified the situation and got everything straight. Next, we sat there about 10-15 mins before anyone said anything to us. Finally our waitress comes over (I believe her name was Diamond), she was rude as hell. **Side note to Business owners: STOP hiring all these young girls with nasty attitudes to be the face of your business! They are so unprofessional and don't know the first thing about providing EXCELLENT customer service! I digress....so next we place our order, before the food comes out she comes over to our table with PAPER PLATES AND FORKS! Oh it gets worse....then the food comes out and it's in to-go containers! Now, I understand Covid protocols but if I wanted my food in styrofoam containers I would've ordered takeout. I only ordered the brisket fries and chicken sliders because I was disappointed in our experience so I didn't care to spend too much money in that establishment. The food was whatever, BBQ sauce was wayyyy too sweet. It taste like Sweet Baby Ray's with an extra pound of sugar smh...the chicken was tender but no smoke or "bbq" flavor at all. Needless to say, this is one black restaurant I definitely won't be supporting. Lastly, the owner should get his big a** out his silver truck that's parked in the front and go inside to tend to his business

The manager here is sooooooo damn rude. I mean, how do people like this run businesses?? We got up to put money in the meter in order to continue to have a good time at the establishment that SHE is in charge of and she threw our food away and had the audacity to get an attitude when we confronted her. Then, she came out and removed food from another table and looked at us and said, "I asked THEM if they were done!" Like wtf??!!!?! Rude as hell. NEVA AGAIN!! So unprofessional. Just tryna be seen and heard.

Coming in the first time with my family to the wood urban kitchen., Nice open environment clean bathrooms were clean outside was very nice inviting. Security was nice. Great music. Our waitress was very nice ,very professional handling both tables even though it was a lot of chaos going on I have to give this Queen her crown. ( Her Name is Shy ) I think that's it. Beautiful person. My family didn't like the ribs I thought the ribs were OK the sauce taste it like sweet baby Ray's with One more cups of sugar little bit too sweet for me The brisket was tender delicious. my problem was that no dinner rolls came with the ribs. My cousin had a piece of hair in her Collard Greens. The Manager came to the table and we showed her what was in the greens and she said that came from one of the nets that the Cook's wear on their heads. ,but the cooks didn't have on any net's when I went to the restroom. Now Both Of our lemonade drinks were delicious the only downfall was we had old strawberries on the Side of our jars My Another family member order the burger no complaints.
