I have come to appreciate this business through the pandemic. They are open daily even over the holidays. Lately I noticed the lady at the front desk seems overworked. As usual rent in Irvine is too high, they are working so hard just to get by. I hope they will not be forced to close down.

Wow! We got their XLB, general tso’s chicken, and scallion pancake. Everything was tasty but the Gen Tso’s chicken (which they are able change to make NOT spicy) REALLY stood out. If you like Panda Express orange chicken, this is like that but one million times tastier which I didn’t know was possible. They gave us a couple small portions of egg plant and shrimp w/walnut, which was so nice of them and we found those exceptionally delicious as well. I’ll probably order those next time bc I’m craving them already.Pricing is fair and parking is not too crazy, even on a Friday. 5 out of 5 stars

Review mainly for the excellent service! Came here after eating at my favorite shabu place next door because my SO had to try their chicken fried rice. I was stuffed so I just wanted a beverage. I ordered the Wintermelon juice for its bogo deal on the menu, but the older woman taking our order said that they were sold out. She suggested their house iced tea so we got one of those. She brought our food to us at the door and let us know that she gave us an extra house iced tea for FREE! That was extremely sweet of her, and I would totally come back for more. The house iced tea was so refreshing with a hint of honey; it was not too sweet. My SO says the chicken fried rice was also pretty good!

This is our go-to Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious and there are vegan choices for my husband. Stephanie always takes such good care of us!

What a hidden gem! Introduced by a friend and I've seen this place for YEARS but never knew how their food was. It is homie, comfort Chinese food meaning don't expect it to be fancy and don't expect everything on the menu to be available. Front of house is run by a sweet older lady who is no nonsense and straight forward but always has you walk away with some ice tea for the ride home. Recommendations so far: Grandma's braised pork Kung Pao chicken Beef and onion Scallion pancakes Steamed pork buns Orange chicken... surprisingly yummy and not like Panda Express. Stewed pork and rice Have some more dishes to try and can't wait to go back.

I had to give a 1 star review in order to review .. I would give 0 if I could...they NEVER have wonton soup, nor egg rolls. Not even crispy noodles for the soup.. or soy sauce...God forbid they give us a stinking fortune cookie..ordered today and the woman taking our call was rude ... they will never see us again.. and the food we did order was bland...............and salty

A very ok restaurant with terrible customer service. The first thing that struck me was that the woman taking orders and packing up the takeout was very unfriendly. She yelled at a customer to be patient when he went up to pick up a menu without asking first and then went on to take three phone orders even though there was a line of customers waiting. I finally ordered after waiting in line for 15 minute. Once I did, she told me the food would be ready in 20 minutes so I came back in 25 and she yelled at me "go away the food isn't ready" so I waited outside and the food was ready in an additional 20 minutes for a total of 45 minutes. While I waited outside, I heard her tell a few customers to "be quiet." If the food was exceptional, I would consider coming back and giving it a second chance but it was meh at best. The half duck was deep fried and came with mostly bones, while the pumpkin noodles were soggy. The only thing that was decent was the garlic eggplant, which was soft and flavorful. The other thing that bothered me was the first three dishes I tried to order weren't even available and the woman told me maybe I needed more time looking at the menu, but even with more time, how could I tell which items were and weren't available?

First time trying this place. Was absolutely amazing. The woman the took my order was so nice. Asked me about my day... I said I was moving, and see gave me a free drink. It was a homemade iced tea, and was sooo delicious. I had the scallion pancake, and pan fried dumplings. When I got the order out to truck to eat there was more complimentary food inside. Rice with chicken and pork. Everything was so good. Wish I had taken a picture, but I already ate everything. Check this place out. Thank you.

One of my favorite spots for some comfort Chinese food! The restaurant is located in the 99 ranch plaza on walnut. Portions are generous and the dishes are delicious! I typically call in our order and it is usually ready within 15-20 minutes. Some of our favorite dishes here include the yang chou fried rice, shanghai rice cakes, pork kidney w/sesame oil, intestine w/shredded ginger, beef w/ green onion, west lake beef soup, and boiled fish fillet w/ napa. Everything here is delicious! I have yet to order a dish I do not like. To me, the pork kidney w/ sesame oil is my favorite dish because I have yet to find another restaurant in the area that makes it this authentic! Service is ok, not great but not bad. I definitely recommend hometown restaurant if you are craving some comfort Chinese food! Pricing is fair for Irvine.

This was an amazing experience with food. The food, the scent, and the atmosphere make my experience so exceptional. There are no words to clarify just how wonderful this place is and how pleased I am with their service. All the staff genuinely accepted and respected me very much. The best of the very best! Highly advised!

Our go to place for comfort Chinese food. The steamed fish with tofu is always tasty and consistent, with the soy sauce marinade. The manager is friendly and seems to recognize long time customers.
