Even though its noted in google maps, I was told to order a day before for TOGO today. Who orders a day before for TOGO??. Orchard shopping center has very good outdoor seating, so I found that weird that they only offer dinein, so I walked out of there.

There is a new owner now and sadly a lot has changed. All different staff, who were nice, but the sushi quality is just not the same. This used to be a solid place but their rolls now look and taste like what you can get at an all you can eat sushi place. Their price point is not in line with their quality now.

We havent been back to Jinbei this year so we decided to return since the food was pretty good. We were really disappointed by the service and the quality of the food. It appears all the chefs behind the counter are new and when we asked them about some items shown on the menu, they dont appear to speak English or Japanese. They had to ask the servers for help. The servers were super busy and hardly have time to answer our questions. Interestingly I also noticed the new chefs placed their working sushi mats on top of their refrigerated countertop. Cooked rice that fell off the mats were also lying on the countertop. This is just something I never seen at other sushi places before. Not sure if it is hygienic or professional. The sashimi pieces are small and not as good as before. Overall I dont think I would return to Jinbei again until things get better. Sad to see a good place turn out like this for the worse.

The food here is always presented in such an appealing manner, flavors are clean and fresh. This time my mom and I shared a Tonkatsu set lunch which included a miso soup, some sushi and the star of the show- tonkatsu! We ordered extra miso soup and the portion was just right for both of us since mom is recovering from surgery and not eating much yet. The sushi was fresh, miso seasoned just right and the tonkatsu was sufficiently thick, juicy and breaded perfectly with a golden crisp exterior. The service was attentive despite a full house with a decent amount of check-ins and hot water refills. My only quibble would be the wait time at noon for a table, which took a good 30 min. So plan your lunch accordingly!
The major concern of my visit today was the way I was treated due to my baby's stroller. I understood if the restaurant did not want the stroller in the dinning area, but the way they told me was in a very mean way, especially the reception girl, who had a pony tail. After she told me in a unpleasant way, we figured out we could leave the stroller at the outside of restaurant. Then, after we seated for 10 mins, no one came to ask if we would like to order or bring any water for us. Instead, they chose to serve guests who arrived later than us. I guess the reason is because we came to dining with the stroller which gave her extra task at the beginning. After I asked is there any waiteress, the ponytail girl had an eye contact with me, and then went to ask her coworker, and at the end, she realized she had to serve my table. so she came to me with a very very unpleasant way. Her attitude made me feel so unfriendly and I felt if she does not welcome me, so what is the point of dining here? So after waited 1 and 10 mins, I had to leave. And from the beginning to the end, this pony tail girl, never ever smiled for one second. I am not asking her to show a 100% friendly attitude, but at least, i hope she could show a little bit welcome to customers who came to dining. thanks.

We returned last night and had the best JapaneseI have had in a long time. The food, the atmosphere is incredible. Even though I had a bad experience with the servicethe second time here, does not take away so manystars. It is really is the best around. I award their Udon with my own Michele Star asthe best around. Their Temperadon is incredible. The only negative is how crowded the place is andthe level of rowdy business men or golfing buddieswho go there to drink. It gets really loud there.

Their fish is fantastic. I was able to get the halibut fin again! Woohoo! Definitely must try to sit at the bar if you want sushi. That's the freshest to eat. So happy they had takowasa here. Everything was good. It was my 3rd time here. I've been coming here too much. I like sitting at the bar in front of chef Jun. He wasn't here today though. I'll have to return again ha! Tonight was crowded for a weekday. People were having fun like it was a weekend! Loud and rowdy at every table. It's fun ambiance! If you're not having fun here, something isn't right!
