We finally had a chance to dine at, Kaju Soft Tofu, in Irvine. I was so happy to see that there was a waitlist I could join on Yelp. As everyone here knows, BCD Tofu, is very similar to this place, but you cannot add yourself to the waitlist until you get there, and the wait could be ridiculously long. That's a bit inconvenient in my opinion. When we were seated, the staff member politely asked if they could take my crutches for me as they saw that I had been injured. They were attentive to us the entire time. We never ran out of water, and our side dishes were always refilled. A note, they don't give you your ban chan until your food arrives there. This was different for me, as I'm used to ban chan already on the table by the time that you get to your seat or immediately after getting seated. What we ordered: all came with rice 1) Galbi Tofu Soup - mild (hubby can't handle much spice) What a chicken. JUST KIDDING, sort of. 2) Oyster Tofu Soup - spicy for me. I could've probably had very spicy. Its seems my heat tolerance has gotten higher. 3) Dumpling tofu soup - white. Meaning no spice for my kid. 4) Two orders of the Galbi short ribs While we waited for our food, a robot came to our table. Let me tell you...the look of confusion and What the F do I do was on my face. LOL. I had to nervously laugh to myself because I didn't know if I was supposed to retrieve the food myself...or wait for the service staff. FYI, they'll come grab the food and place it at your table for you. Everything was absolutely delicious. I couldn't tell a difference between Kaju vs BCD, honestly. The only difference would've been the sides. Here they had jap chae, BCD has the fish cake. All other sides were the same and their kimchi was also VERY good. I don't eat kimchi from anywhere but BCD, but I will eat Kaju's because it's that tasty. Overall, definitely 5 stars for the great service, delicious food, ban chan, AND the fact that I can put myself on their waitlist on my Yelp app. That's always a plus. My daughter and I, cannot wait to go back for a mom and daughter date.

SOY excited to find out there's a Kaju in Irvine! (beware of the other Kaju location, which has the same exact name but isn't part of the authentic Korean franchise) If you've BEAN looking for a quality tofu soup spot, I highly recommend checking them out! While BCD is another solid option in Irvine, there isn't a wait at Kaju, and I do think the quality and quantity of their ingredients are better, although I would recommend being a bit more adventurous with their spice levels since they're not as spicy as BCD. My seafood soon tofu came with lots of clams, oysters and shrimp with eggs in them, and I also thought the galbi had larger pieces of meat (although still a bit more chewy than I liked/not as good as BCD's). Their broth, Banchan and sauces are also a bit sweeter compared to BCD, and I think it just boils down to personal preference when choosing between these two restaurants.

Kaju is my go-to place for some good tofu soup! I'm always taking my friends here to try this place. It's located in the busy Culver plaza, so Kaju can get busy, but I would say the longest i've ever waited on a busy night would be 30-40 mins - which is honestly not bad considering the other wait times for food places in the plaza! I always get the Kimchi Beef tofu soup with medium spice level. The stew is super flavorful, and paired with their side dishes it's just delicious! Their bibimbap is delicious as well. Service is always amazing. The staff are always so sweet and check up on us every once in awhile if we ever need anything. Will be coming again when I'm craving for a tofu soup!

Not a big fan of Kaju personally. Our expectations were pretty high and we were disappointed. I got the galbi soup which I thought was ok. The amount of meat they gave me was pretty decent compared to the last time I went. My friend got the spicy pork. We were disappointed with the portion size especially since we got it to share with the table. The side dishes were a bit bland. The kimchi and cucumbers were good. The japchae could've used more flavor.

My gf and I love this place. We go here whenever we're craving Korean tofu soup. It's hidden in a small parking lot which makes it hard to spot at first glance. Truly a hidden gem.

Wow, great quality soodubu, and great service too! Especially Trevor and Bright who runs around with his little side dish cart making sure you always have enough side dishes. Also Tessa was nice too. Only Sunny was a little frumpy but still decently helpful. Will be back!

We were here on Thursday around 5 pm. The service: five stars, very attentive, servers were enthusiastic, quick and smiling The food: 3.5 stars, Beef ribs were a little undercooked and cold, Tofu soup was delicious though Just a small suggestion, please give more napkins to the guests if they asked and should use the same kind of napkin that you put on table at the beginning, instead of gave only 3 thin (to go) napkins, we spent $75 for 2 people and a 4 years old girl, we deserved to have more napkins than 3 pieces. Thank you

I usually love coming here and the service is usually good and food is great. However the last two times I've gone here the service has been pretty rude and dismissive by one of the women servers named Sunny. The first time I was here I dismissed it because maybe it was busy and she had a bad day. But today when I went she was very rude to our whole party when I asked if we had a missing rice bowl. She was placing the food down harshly and giving me glares and was cutting me off a lot, and mumbling words under her breath when I asked it made the whole experience quite bitter. Another server was also giving the remaining of our food by the name of Julie however and she was quite nice. Maybe it's a hit or miss but I was nice to her and I don't understand why it was replied back with rudeness

Food is great, they refill your side dishes as many times as you want. Our server Trevor Nguyen is the best!!!

This place gets packed! Though I think you can add your name to the waitlist through YELP. Its located in a busy shopping center, where parking can sometimes be tricky because so many cars driving by, but once you get sat, you get the menu, which everything you see on the menu sounds sooo good! For almost $20 a entree, you really are having enough food for 2 people who eat like little mouses. If you are a pig, then their one entree is just enough for you and still a few nibbles to take home. They have a robot that serves you too. Service was great, though there was a few times my nephews food was delayed. I don't like it when children always seem to be forgotten when it comes to their food not ready first or at the same time with others. Food was really delicious and in the end we left full and happy.

Would have rated a 5 but the next day I must have had something bad in the because I had the runs which is very odd for me. The hot spice I felt so know it was the night before. Thinking it was the fried fish maybe.

Came in for a quick lunch and was able to get seated right away. This was my second time here and food came out pretty quickly and I really like their kimchi as it's not very sour and more on the fresh side. I ordered the medium oyster tofu soup which was the perfect amount of spice for me and there was a decent amount of oysters in the soup. The spicy pork bulgogi was also pretty good and seasoned well. The portion was also pretty decent.

The first time I came here was around either 2010 or 2011. Since back and until now. It is still one of the best Tofu house restaurants that I come back to and recommend to people who want to try out Korean dishes. If I had to compare to another place, I would choose Kaju still. I usually order Beef, Dumpling, or Ham and Cheese Tofu Soup at a medium spice level, and they have never disappointed: the broth, the Tofu and the option you choose. I always leave satisfied with my order. I love the side dishes here so much, especially the fish cakes and the anchovies. I would always request for more. And the employees here, despite them having lunch and dinner rushes, they are always so welcoming and very helpful and checking on you. They always have a line outside, but are always trying their best! I love Kaju Tofu!
