DOES NOT EXIST!!!!Went inside Umami Burger as other reviews had suggested. Umami stated that it's a "ghost" restaurant and they would not help us.

I tried this place out a couple months ago and I was really excited to find birria nearby in the Spectrum! Prices are good and the consume is delicious! I ordered the barbacoa beef quesadilla with chips and salsa. It was so cheesy and good - paired with the broth it's just what I needed after a long work week. Ordered delivery - would love to stop by the physical location again.

NO INSIDE DINING. TAKEOUT ONLY. YOU MUST SCAN A QR CODE AT THE FRONT TO ORDER YOUR FOOD. Now that I've got that off my chest...lets proceed with our review. This place was quite difficult to find. We circled the building multiple times before seeing the tip on Yelp about it being located "inside Umami burger". So we arrived. Still no obvious signs for Resident Taco. We then asked where Resident Taco was, and the host said "all the way in the back". She then took our temperatures and said we could sit wherever and instructed us to scan the QR code for a menu. So we sat as instructed, and scanned the menu at the table. We were confused because the menu was still for Umami Burger, not Resident Taco. Then a server came to our table and we asked where the Resident Taco menu was. She told us that Resident Taco offers takeout only. No inside dining. And that it's a ghost kitchen. And that we should scan the QR code at the front entry. *smh* Guys, guys, guys... So it's a new business...and they're figuring out all the kinks... But showing where to go and how to order is kinda priority. They obvi need train the front end staff on how to direct traffic. Why tell us to sit down and order off the menu at the table when we are asking for Resident Taco?? -__- That said, we got the 2 Sopes with fries and consomme. The sopes were actually pretty bomb, but everything else was cold. Cold fries, cold consomme. And that is with us waiting at the door and eating it immediately after it was taken from kitchen to the front for pick-up. If the food was hot, we would probably give this place 4 or 5 stars. They get 3 stars for the cold, but good tasting food. Cool concept, poorly executed at this time.

I have never wanted to write a negative review before unless I had a genuinely bad experience however I was very disappointed with the food here. I was looking for a local place that had barria tacos and was very pleased to find Resident Taco at the spectrum had them! The reviews here on Yelp praised the barria tacos so I was very excited. When I showed up I was very confused because "Resident Taco" is not an actual location/ restaurant. I guess Resident Taco just uses the Unami Burger kitchen. So you need to make any orders for Resident Taco online and then pick it up from Unami Burger. (No problem just very confusing). My friend and I both ordered the #1 Barbacoa Beef Tacos with a side of chips and salsa. We also got cheese which cost an extra 2$. The taco was packed with meat so at least you get your money's worth on the meat. It wasn't terrible but there was no flavor! I mean it was just a lot of meat, I didn't even taste the cheese. What really made me want to write the review was the consommé (beef dipping broth). It really tasted like water. I know the flavor isn't meant to be potent or strong, but there was no flavor at all. My last problem was more personal but the salsa!! It was the consistency of Buffalo sauce. It had a nice taste but it really wasn't salsa it was hot sauce. I love hot sauce but that's not what I want to dip my tortilla chips in. Overall I would say if u want to try barria tacos... go somewhere more authentic. (Random) The number that was on the order confirmation to call when you get there was wrong! A women answered and told us it was the wrong number ‍

Great price for some great food, ordered through DoorDash, but had to review cause the food was delicious and just hit the spot! The tacos with the dipping was amazing :)

We've really been wanting to try birria tacos with consommé and were surprised to find out there was a place at the Spectrum that had them. Their online ordering system was easy to use and our order was ready at the estimated time. The tacos and consommé dipping sauce were DELICIOUS! Their salsa was really really spicy, which I loved. It was too spicy for my wife though so try a little first before you put a bunch on your taco. The combo comes with your choice of chips or French fries. Like others have said, the tacos are pretty greasy.

Disappointed. I came to this restaurant based on its high ratings but ultimately I was very very disappointed. 1/5 Barbacoa Tacos: the meat was not tender at all. I felt like I was eating rubber. There was barely any flavor and the consommé was so bland I felt like I was drinking hot water and somebody accidentally spilled a bit of seasoning into it. The corn tortilla didn't even taste like corn tortilla, you could only taste the corn at the end like an afterthought. Negative 10,000 /5: DO NOT GET THE CHURRO DONUTS. DO. NOT. The donuts were literally drenched in oil. The second you touched it, it fell apart. The only taste it had was just oil. There's literally no batter at all. When you gently squeeze the donut, oil just starts dripping out. It felt like it had been there for awhile even tho we just it. The cinnamon sugar was all oily and clumpy. There was even cilantro on all of my churro donuts. It goes to show how unclean the kitchen is. 0/5 Price: it was expensive for the quality and amount of food we got. 2/5 Overall: the staff was very friendly. The fries were pretty decent.

Soooooo we were super excited to try this place. Yes excited and then...... drum roll Ordered the barbacoa tacos with chips and salsa and a veggie taco. Unfortunately I thought, hey you get salsa because it says chips and salsa? nope nada, no tiene salsa. no consume either? hey I thought it came with consume? Seriously who eats tacos with no salsa? The tacos were good but something was missing. The corn was good, in the pics they show 3 but I only got 2. Note to self check my order before I leave.

yep barbacoa dip salsa is good too this is super solid and a great snack for while walking around the spectrum. deserves its 4.5+ rating for sure. have to try more things from you guys thank you for the great food!

The food is good but I specifically noted that I did not want any onions on the beef tacos and they put extra onions! That's very rude and comes off as whoever prepared them didn't give a f**** I'm allergic if that even matters. This makes me not even want to order from here anymore, it may just be my second and last time ordering. Like I said the food is amazing but the food prep needs to pay attention to detail!

Resident Taco slaps hard. Seemingly out of nowhere Resident Taco started as a pop up restaurant located inside of Umami Burger at the Irvine Spectrum and thanks to the latest menu changes at Umami Burger it is the only reason to set foot in the restaurant (which is a damn shame -- Umami Burger get it together). I had a to go order and although the service was on point, the time it took to get my order was roughly 20-25 minutes even when I ordered through the Yelp app (Resident Tacos own website is wonky to the point of being useless). So don't be in any kind of hurry. Resident Taco specialized in Barbacoa and for the uninitiated Barbecue is a pre-hispanic preparation where special spices are combined with Beef and slow-cooked for hours until "crock pot" tender. Once the cooking process is complete the Beef is then shredded and loaded up on a thick handmade Tortilla and beef topped with the customary Onion and Cilantro. Then comes the fun and flavorful piece: the Tacos are served with an elegant, savory Consommé for dipping that takes the experience into the stratosphere. The Tacos are fantastic or better on their own right but when submerged in the liquid Beef the magic really happens and this is one of the better Consommé recipes out there. On par with La Super Birria in Santa Ana, no question. The value play is to order Barbacoa Tacos as a combination which adds a choice in sides (Fries or Chips & Salsa -- both are average) for $11.00 which comes in a to go box that must weigh all of 2 pounds plus. Looking for extra decadence? Add "Vampiro" Cheese for $2.00 and you will have all the motivation in the world to hit the gym later on in the day. Resident Taco is a welcome addition to the Irvine dining scene and - again - just about the only reason to visit Umami Burger these days. A must stop.

I'm not sure why this place is rated 3 stars it's definitely a 5 for me. BE ADVISED YOU CAN ONLY ORDER THROUGH YOUR PHONE. YOU CAN NOT ORDER AT THE RESTAURANT. Also it's located in Unami Burger so don't look for a sign just go in and ask them. I ordered the street tacos, quesadilla and churro donut. Everything was great. And the value of the food was awesome. This place needs a location for its self. Highly recommend.

The location is confusing because it's serve out of umi burger or something like that but I did enjoy my tacos

FYI- This place is located in a burger place called umami burger and it is to go only. If your looking for something small and is craving tacos this place is great. They have combo options for those who are really hungry and single tacos if you just want a snack. The salsa that comes with the tacos are so good! Beware.. If you don't like spicy food don't try it. We ordered the barbacoa torta, the quesadilla, barbacoa tacos, and veggie tacos. All of it was delicious and hit the spot.

Wow so good! Not your basic tacos, definitely memorable. Hands down one of the best tacos I've had
