It has been over 16 years and I still remember eating those breakfast burritos... Has anyone found any place comparable to Cantina's breakfast burrito (with mashed potatoes)?!?! If so please post!!! Does anyone here know the owner Cesar S. P. who can post the recipe (if no other comparable breakfast burrito can be found)?!?!?

The best breakfast burrito EVER! I don't know what they do to it, but it's become a nearly weekly ritual. I saw a sign a few months ago that this place would be closing in June. It's now mid-July and I'm so glad they're still operating. Hope they don't go anywhere anytime soon.

What I tasted: Breakfast burrito = pretty good....had eggs, cheese, sausage, rice and sour cream. Very tasty. Steak quesadilla = was pretty good first but then for some reason the tortilla tasted like charcoal... Not sure why? Chips And salsa= chips are ok... Nothing special. Salsa is average nothing special. Overall good and would come back

Best Breakfast Burrito in town hands down. I cannot believe anyone in their right mind could diss it. I just watched them make a bunch and it's a process for sure. Ingredients are carefully prepared and distributed evenly in the burritos every time. Go watch them make a few and see for yourself. The Spanish potatoes they use are a secret recipe.

Carne asada fries did not come out like they did in the picture. Meat was good but overall not worth 4 stars.

I went here almost every week when I went to undergrad here 98-02, and every chance I get to go back to visit I make sure I stop by here. The breakfast burritos are amazing, all the burritos in fact. They use 3 different types of cheese and the meat is marinated and grilled to perfection. Don't let the exterior fool you, if you are visiting, if you are an isla vista resident you know whats up....anyways, its a whole in the wall thats great for food. I would recommend getting it to go and take a short walk to the park or the beach of del playa blvd.

This place is awesome but sadly it is closing down!! We will miss our beloved Wed meal deal.

Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Generally speaking, I'd rather poke my own eyes out than dodge texting bicyclists and scour IV for a parking spot but I'll gladly do it for the deliciousness that is the Cantina breakfast burrito. Plus, if you go before 11 most of IV is still fast asleep anyway. If you're a vegetarian and breakfast isn't your thing try the potato taquitos.

Mexican is my favorite type of cuisine and this is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had. Salsa is amazing, chicken quesadilla is amazing, tacos are great sizes, and the taquitos were great! Highly recommend and props to the one guy that had to make the food and be the cashier, freshly preparing our food in such a fast time!

I consider myself a burrito enthusiast. When I ate here, I appreciated the burrito well enough, I mean, it was an all-around decent burrito. But where's the zest? Where's that little oomph that makes me want to bring all my friends here? No special sauce, no special herbs or family-secret spice combinations, no artisan tortillas. Now, I might sound a little snoody, but this, my friends, is the age of the burrito. If I'd rather a burrito place just be a Chipotle, it's failing. Impress me. Amuse me. Enthuse me. Craft me a burrito that doesn't just deserve those five stars, but demands, nay, requires them. UPDATE: I decided to give this place a second try, and much to my chagrin, they don't even have hot sauce. No Cholula, no Tabasco, no Tapatio, no Nothin'. Wow.

Super friendly staff, hands down the best breakfast burrito in Isla Vista. Only down side is that they close very early so we have to hurry to get that good breakfast burrito. They advertise it as the "world's best", but sorry to those that doesn't agree but it IS the World's best!

Possibly the best burrito I've ever had, with the disclosure being that I'm an east coaster visiting town for the weekend. Good prices too.

I have had a lot of breakfast burritos, but for me, this place was not the best. I got it, because it seemed like it was advertised a lot. I would have probably gave more stars if it had some meat in there. The breakfast burrito came with a side of chips and tasted very clean. Clean, but seemed like it was missing something and some meat would have filled that void.
