The grilled calamari was perfectly cooked, tender and smoked. It comes with a siracha mayo sauce. The sashimi was fresh. The tempura ice cream was delicious!

Edamame was cold. Small portion for a bento box dinner. Expensive prices. Slow service. Unsanitary. A very unpleasant dining experience. I should not feel like I am still hungry for spending more than $25 and feel like I am being scammed when I leave.

My go to when on north Shore, reminds me of my days in Tokyo, service, quantity, hell there is a huge samurai on the wall.

Made a reservation for a party of 8 and showed up 15min earlier than the agreed time. It was an empty restaurant but the server refused to let us sit anywhere but the bar because they had another party coming in later in the evening. She did not mention that we would be sitting at the bar over the phone and there was clearly more than enough tables at the restaurant for both parties. When asked about sitting at a smaller area across the restaurant, the server mentioned it would be “too hard”. Terrible service, hope the owner hires better help. We went to nearby Koi sushi instead which was absolutely phenomenal.

We own a 2nd home in Carnelian Bay and have wanted to find a good sushi place and after several years of driving by we finally came in ! Wow have we been missing out - ! We had the sushi Mi appetizer - awesome! Edamame so good! And 4 different Bento boxes with tempura - teriyaki steak and teriyaki chicken All were soooo good The restaurant is clean - the service is good and the pricing is fair for where we are So not hesitate to try this wonderful hidden gem!

The food was great! We ordered the sashimi sampler plate and bento boxes, beer and hot Saki. We all loved the food. The service was fine. We had no problems at all. The ambiance was just like our favorite sushi place back home. We definitely will be back and highly recommend Hiro Sushi!!

Pleasantly surprised as "first timers " with our meal last night. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The sashimi dinner, I had, was plentiful and delicious. My wife had the Bento box with chicken teriyaki and tempura with large portions - missing California roll! Plenty of seating and they no longer have a Happy Hour. You won't be disappointed, Cheers!

Very nice atmosphere and food, usually its not really busy so the service is extremely fast (<10 mins). If you sit at the "bar" you can see how they make the food right in front of you. A really wonderful experience. Also all you can eat is not available anymore, but the prices are fair.

Can't wait to get to Hiro's from South Carolina. Best food in the world! We used to have a cabin in Kings Beach and after 16 years are finally able to go back for a visit and the first place we will hit up will be Hiro's. Their food is amazing. The staff is friendly and excellent service. Hope they still sell Tshirts, too.

This place is weird. Always closed. Apparently they are only open Tuesday-Saturday for 3 hours a day...What? Unless this is some clandestine money laundering operation, You are sabotaging your business by having that red neon sign in public view of the road with "closed" on it 99% of the time. People will just assume you are a poorly run business and simply will not trust you serving them raw fish if you can't even hold decent business hours. Try opening for lunch during your peak summer season you fools! :)

Tonights visit was such a disappointment. The waitress was pleasant and friendly. The bento boxes were extremely disappointing. The quality of food lacked as did the portions. The sushi disappointing!!!!! The miso soup just plain gross-Colored water with seaweed, almost no miso flavor no tofu! 2 bento boxes (small portions), 4 small sushi rolls, 6 sodas and 2 very small "kids menu" steak rice bowls with $20 dollar tip $188 (more like $80) It wasn't the money or we would have walked out if we weren't willing to pay those prices, it was the lack of quality food that we paid for that was so disappointing. Just know you'll pay a lot and feel cheated in the end. Sorry Hiro, it's not personal it's a fact! I should add that not one member of our family was satisfied with their meal. Read Helen N. Review. She is spot on!!!!!
