We just discovered this spot , food was delicious *called on a Saturday night and our order was ready within minutes *steak burrito mojado , good size, salsa roja is tasty and spicy !! * 3 tacos : chicken , carne asada and carnitas , very good *salsas are tasty *friendly service * we got eco friendly take out containers

First, this place is great! The only reason I am giving it four stars is that over the past 18 years that I've been visiting, they continue to use styrofoam for to-go orders. Styrofoam lasts more than 500 years, as it does not biodegrade, so will be here much longer than it takes to eat a delicious taco plate :( But besides that, La Mexicana is a delicious staple of Kings Beach. The meats are absolute delicious. Best street tacos around. Salsa is outstanding! I enjoy all the items on their menu. It's just good, solid food. They even added a cute picnic area. La Mexicana is attached to a Mexican grocery store where you can get array of other Mexican goods like marinated meat for grilling and pan dulce.
I suffered major food poisoning after eating just a small part of an egg and ham burrito on 1/12/24. That evening I had chills and shakes, diarrhea, headache, low grade fever and no appetite or energy. My doctor diagnosed it as viral gastroenteritis and E. coli induced enteritis. Seven days later I'm still very slowly getting better. The kitchen obviously wasn't cleaned properly.

Everything is good here! I always get tacos or a burrito and then try something new in addition. Be prepared to order outside but service is typically fast. Ask for hot sauce if you want them when you receive your order.
