This is a small place but worth it. The food was spot on. The wait staff was there when we needed him and not when we didn't. I personally drink high end Tequila. The staff's recommendation was not high end but it was OK.

The menu is great. Service is excellent. No problems getting reservations or just dropping in. On my favorite places to eat.

Stopped in here on a whim on a slow Spring morning with some friends to grab a late breakfast bite. Our waiter, Ovi, was very pleasing to work with and accommodated our every need. He ensured our food tasted great and that our expectations were met. Omelettes were perfect, fruit was ripe and sweet, waffle came with extra whipped cream as requested, and the burgers stood up to some of the best I've had. Onion rings were phenomenal as well. We sat outside on the patio in the crisp cool air under the shining sun, taking in the fresh Tahoe smell of pine and fallen snow. Would return here in a heartbeat!

Was really craving eggs Benedict, and went here because of the reviews. As a vegetarian I ordered without the eggs, and it was very good. Definitely recommend ordering the muffin extra toasted.

The most tender filet I have ever had!I appreciate the chef ads minimal salt so I could add it to my liking. Everything from the veg to the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The atmosphere is cozy and they have live music sometimes. I also appreciate the high quality speakers and the volume not being too loud. The service was great. Amazing considering I went on Tuesday which is happy hour all night at the bar side!So happy I found this amazing establishment!

Beautiful spot on a golf course with the pine trees and Lame Tahoe across the street. Great specials for drinks and appetizers each day for Happy Hour. Sit outside for the view as long as the weather is nice! As for our favorite waiter, Ed!

Decent food options in the northern Lake Tahoe area are - generally speaking - pretty slim. A restaurant gets five stars when the food is fresh, the menu is unique and changes based on the season and availability of ingredients, the server is attentive and the price reflects the overall quality of the experience, Spindleshanks is a good enough option considering the modest local alternatives. The ambience is warm and cozy even though be aware that one section of the restaurant gets very cold at night due to a patio door that does not seal properly. Back to the food: good appetizer (roasted artichoke), very nice entree (pork schnitzel) and a glass of red wine. The entree was huge, easily good for two regular sized adult. A very attentive server made the dining experience even better. Considering the nearby options I will return in the future.

This makes me sad and I try to only leave reviews when I'm happy with my experience. Unfortunately my experience tonight was literally heartbreaking and I hope my relating the events it will bring light to the effects this person had on our evening. I have been coming to this resturant off and on for decades and my experiences has ranged from good to great. My family has a home on the same street it is on that they built themselves nearly 50years ago. We aren't rich, entitled visitors. This evening I brought a friend to dinner here and the evening was going perfectly. The service was great, the server was kind and well informed about the menu. It slowed down a little as the resturant got busy but that was to be expected. The food was excellent, everything we ordered was really good. We were looking forward to having our coffee and dessert and walking home. Unfortunately the dessert took a very long time and the coffee I ordered with it hadn't come by the time the dessert did so I cancelled the coffee. Again, not the end of the world. However, as we started eating the dessert we realized it was not up to the standard of the rest of the meal and we were not enjoying it. I informed another gentleman on the service floor and it was taken away. As we waited for the bill that same gentleman came up and asked what was wrong with the dessert. Not an unreasonable question however he was visibly perturbed and said "I tasted it and it was exactly like I wanted it". This person was either the chef or an owner as it felt he had personal stake in my response. I was apprehensive to respond as it felt like no matter what I said next was going to be wrong, but I politely replied. "The oats were hard and felt undercooked, the crust was too dry and the filling was bland and 1 note". He stood there for a moment and asked me "how many notes did you want?" I was honestly shocked at his clap back. I took a breath and said "you asked my opinion and I gave it to you. I didn't know you wanted to start a fight", although from his demeanor I should have realized. He stared at me for a few moments in disgust then waived his hand, brushing me off, and walked away as he said "well, I guess we will see you next time". It was truly heartbreaking. Our lovely evening ruined by this persons ego. If you ask for input you should be able to graciously hear it. Otherwise don't ask. Im a nurse now but before that I had been in resturant service for 15years. Front and back of house. I know how hard and unrelenting it is, but I would never treat a guest like this, especially after discovering they were dissatisfied and asking for their input.

One of the best meals I have ever had. We were a party of four and everyone was ecstatic with their food. The rainbow trout, brick chicken, artichoke appy, and seared ahi tuna plus salads. All wonderful. We will definitely come back!!

Every time we visit Spindleshanks (for breakfast all the time), we had great experience! The ambiance of the restaurant makes you relax. The service is on point! The Three Piggie omelette is just awesome - egg tender, meat/cheese/grill onion in great harmony, country potato one of the best! And code is good too!

North Lake Tahoe lunch choices seem to be limited to breakfast places and a slew of burger joints, so when i saw fish tacos on the menu at this place i had high hopes for something different. Unfortunately it fell a bit short. The interior was homey and we were seated right away. I also liked that there was a big lot for parking across the street. I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos, and while they looked good, they were pretty bland. They were deep fried, and came with a mountain of cabbage, a bit of pico, and some green hot sauce on the side that was not hot or flavorful at all. These tacos are screaming for an adobo crema sauce to impart some flavor. The fish was cooked nicely but it was a pretty skimpy portion. Also, most mahi mahi tacos are grilled and mahi mahi has a distinct flavor. These really tasted like cod to me but i guess they might have been mahi mahi. One big negative for me was that there were mushrooms mixed in with the cabbage on the taco. I really dislike mushrooms and i have never seen mushrooms put on a fish taco. So i had to meticulously pick out all the mushroom bits. Net net, i ate all three tacos but they were quite dry and bland. The ketchup on my fries actually had more flavor. The server was great though and he had no help for both the bar and dining room, but he managed it well. I would go back for a breakfast, but the tacos are a no go for me.
