They have really improved. Dona Maria is our favorite restaurant now in La Canada. Great guac. Favorite salsa. Love the new decor too!

Visiting from Ohio. After stopping by a few other Mexican restaurants in the area, who were either closed Sundays, had an hour wait, or seemed unusually slow to be any good, we came across Doña Maria's. My dad and I both ordered combo plates, and the server was nice enough to allow us to substitute taquitos in the combo as an item, although it's not an option on the menu. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was exactly what we were looking for. Great guacamole. Enchiladas and taquitos were delicious. I ordered blended margarita with my meal and one on the rocks to-go when we got the bill. Nice and strong. Very happy with our experience!

First indication Mexican place isn't good is when the salsa is is watery and flavorless. Service was so slow, not terribly friendly and food took too long to be served. Food itself: we gave it a D grade. Edible? Yeah barely. Taste good? Nope. Will we be back? Also no.

Dona Maria's in La Cañada is OK. I had the chicken enchilada suiza and hard shell taco combo. It was good, but when the chips are salsa steal the show, you know there are better options out on the streets. While the dishes are tasty, it's worth noting that the overall value might not be the most competitive in the area. There are other options that offer better value for a similar price range.
Live in this area forever never got a feel for the place but I thought I'd give it a chance. Salty food not fresh, I should've stayed home and cooked!

When we're in SoCal visiting we always go to Dona Maria. The food is always fresh and the appetizers also. The Gold Cadillac Margis aren't bad either. We always try to get Angel as our server since he's my grandson's favorite and he's very good at his job.

upon walking in, the restaurant is a little shabby and eclectic, but once you’re past that, it is clean and the staff is accommodating and friendly. Our food was fresh, good quality and yummy. Ordered: red and green chicken enchiladas, guacamole, pork verde burrito and picadillo. The salsa for the table is delicious! I personally loved the red sauce for the enchilada just wish there was a bit more to make em extra saucy! I could’ve drank the enchilada sauce! We will return.

Uh.. no. It's not a 4 star place. Not even close. It's barely a 3 star. Very slow service, they forgot at least 2 requests. But honestly what matters is the food and it's completely average and nothing special. I also noticed they are light on selection of meat plates, not even a carne asada.
