This unassuming, smallish restaurant is a gem. I have eaten there twice, and highly recommend the more unusual dishes - agadashi, yakatori and mango panna cotta dessert. They have a long list of wine, beer and saki. Their sushi is good, but not anything special. Service is attentive; they really take care of you. Recommended for lunch and dinner.

Great service and very tasty food. Not just the regular Japanese fare. It was a step above.

Over rated place. I feel misled by the reviews. Food is below average. Poor customer service. The only merit is the restaurant environment. True rating should be a low 3. Not recommended.

Best eel sushi I've had ever! The calamari was also very good. tasted really fresh and sat at the bar, so I got to watch the rolls get made in front of me. Would love to come back the next time I'm in California.

Great food, great service, full of people. I will be back.
Food is average. I have tried this place a few times. Ramen is definitely average at best. Their donburi bowls are pretty decent as well the sushi rolls. Skewers are average.

I ordered takeout and everything looked fresh. I didn't take any photos of the food but it was all delicious. We had the sashimi, gyoza, 911 roll and avocado mango salad.

Delicious food! Fun and friendly atmosphere and staff!
Extremely fresh food! The fish was very good and fresh from the sushi. All dishes were extremely good and tasty. There was a large crowd inside but they still were able to seat and assist us in a timely manner. The service was great, too.

Best Philadelphia roll we ever had. Service was great too. Price was fair and parking easy.

Given that there are so many sushi places in San Diego and almost all of them have the same suppliers, use the same ingredients, etc, It's really hard to stand out. Unfortunately, Kinoyume just falls under every other sushi place for me. I think the let down for me was how small the rolls are and how high of the cost is. I do appreciate the Japanese ambiance and friendly service but in regards to value it's not particularly my first choice when it comes to sushi.

I came here for dinner with a coworker. We ordered the 911, OMG, and Red Geisha. We also got Thai tea. Unfortunately I thought it was just okay. Everything was priced fairly and it's close to UCSD.

I’ve been here few times in the past two weeks and enjoyed every one of my meals very much. Their eel sauce has an underlying flavor, different than traditional flavor that is unique and pleasant. Their everything skewers plate(yakitori) is almost everything I hoped to be; It was beyond good but it needed a side order of rice for $2 more which made it perfect. My only criticism is they were a little under cooked, specially the chicken skewers. Cooking 15 seconds longer on each side would make them perfect!. Their eel sushi tasted fresh and light. My table-host was attentive and professional young man.I would definitely revisit this place and recommend it to friends and family. I hope your experience will be a perfect one!.
