Great local spot with true Italian and seafood options. I came here with a large party and we had excellent service and great quality meal. I highly recommend if in the area and seeking Italian. I ordered the linguini clams and it was filling with a great sauce! Well done Osteria!

Wonderful Italian restaurant. We went to three in La Jolla and this was by far our favourite. Authentic Italian food and we even were able to speak Italian with our waiter.

Ordered takeout here and was extremely disappointed. Husband got lasagna and it was like a pasta pie or casserole with meat/veggies/cheese inside and no sauce. Tomato sauce was poured over it and it was extremely salty. Is that a regional type of lasagna I don't know about? I ordered the carbonara and it was nothing at all like a carbonara I've ever eaten. It just seemed to be spaghetti with an onion cream sauce. Carbonara cooked by my Italian study abroad friends was egg yolks and cheese... Anyway both decided we could and should have just cooked both dishes at home. Skip these.

Just as delicious as the first time we came! Will always come back for this restaurant with its great service and great food. Bread when you first sit down and kind employees. Feels like you're in a little pace in italy and beautiful decor.

Finally got to try this place and it was well worth the wait! The ambience is outstanding and made me feel like I was in Italy. Loved getting to sit next to a pic of Sophia Loren! The food was utterly fantastic from start to finish with delicious bread and tomato dip to the incredible bresaola appetizer to the mouthwatering linguine nere. Can't wait to come back again and again!

Went to Osteria Romantica for a large dinner with about 36 people. The staff was amazing and the food was fresh. BUT, be cautious when booking large groups at this restaurant. The order was preordered before the group arrived and took several hours for us to be served our food, which was slightly disappointing considering the order was placed beforehand. It seemed like the kitchen was unprepared for such an order. The result was several people leaving and getting food across the street. For perspective, they left after appetizers arrived, ordered a full meal at another restaurant, had it served to them, ate it, sat for 30 minutes and returned. The main course was only then being served after those people returned. It is unfortunate that this delay has drug down the service rating as it wasn't the serving staff's fault it felt. As this group was here for a conference we returned a second night in a row with a nearly identical experience. The group size probably should not have been accepted by the restaurant if the capacity wasn't there.Food was still good so for smaller groups you will enjoy this quaint beachy italian restaurant with good flavor and ambiance!

The atmosphere is nice and the complementary bread and tomato sauce is so tasty. The risotto was also so good as well as the chicken. The annoying thing was the waiter came to our table more than 3 times to ask if the food was good and everything was okay. The third time was him rushing us to take the rest of our food to-go and got us the receipt to pay without asking us! It was as if he wanted us out. We didn't even sit for an hour.Another thing that would be a big deal if someone is phobic of spiders is that there was a huge spider in the restroom.

Saturday busy, but not a great welcome having to wait 30mins with a reservation. Waiters were overloaded no time and not enough menus. Underwhelming for sure. Ravioli plate too small, lasagna came from microwave. Will not return.

It's a very nice restaurante with very good food, however the service is bad, to not say horrible. It was Valentine's Day, our first Valentines as a family of 3, and we made a reservation for 5:15pm. As soon as we sat, the server asked what we wanted, obviously. So we ordered wine and a starter. He insisted that we should order the main course once it could get crowded and it could take long for the food be ready. I said it was fine as we were not in a rush, so we would order food after eating the appetizer. Well, before the appetizer got to our table, the server returned 4 times asking if we had chosen the main, so at the 5th time I gave up and ordered. Immediately my appetizer and main course arrived. While I was eating the server was around us with the charge machine (credit/debit card). As soon as I finished my plate, he asked if I wanted a coffee. I said I was going to first finish the wine. Well, 5 seconds later he returned with the bill and didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. So the time I thought I would spend at the restaurant, eating and drinking in peace, was a dream. In 45min we were kicked out. I do understand it was Valentines, but please let me first finish eating before handling me the bill. Not coming back.
