Good experience. The staff was friendly and the Breakfast Sandwich was good, but a bit expensive for what you get.

Artist Vendors Beware:My intentions are to shed light on the wrongdoings I’ve experienced at the hand of this store, and to warn future artist vendors to beware.I was reached out to by the store owner’s week-time employee, I had never heard of this woman or her store before. She told me she had seen my work and needed to have my “beautiful things” in her store.I am a full-time student at a local college and spent many hours constructing a collection specific for her theme, as per her request. A few months pass and I ask about the update on my things, as I figured nothing had sold and this was the reason for the lack of communication. She told me that they had sold something, which was a surprise to me because I still didn’t have a dime or any knowledge of this. I asked if the money was ready for me, and there was much lag (multiple days) in just asking me for the proper spelling of my name to be written on the check… it was all over my product labels and stickers she had in her store.Being uncomfortable with the zero response I got for days after inquiring about my check, I told the woman I was not comfortable with the lack of communication about my products and that I wanted to come pick them up. She told me that I could come and get my stuff, but that her inventory was not her responsibility.I told her I would be coming to the store today, Sunday, to get my check and the remainder of my products. From the woman via text that morning: “Please be aware that our gift shop is closed on Sundays, so you will need to wait until tomorrow to pick up your check and stuff.”Knowing that this was completely untrue, I called the store and immediately got an answer at 8:30am that Sunday. I asked for the boutiques business hours and the woman on the phone identified herself as the owner and told me that the store would be open from 8am-6pm, and that she runs the boutique and neighboring deli so she’d be able to open up the boutique all day. I then identified myself and told her that I would be coming in today (that Sunday) to retrieve my belongings and check. She became very stand-offish immediately after she recognized who I was, and told me that she now needed to know what time specifically I would be coming in because it needed to be a scheduled arrival… weird being that I was just told the boutique would be open from 8am-6pm. She then abruptly told me she did not want me in her store and that the boutique would be locked and I’d have no access. She told me I could pick up my things and check at the neighboring deli counter. She told me my things were already in the hallway packed up, meaning that within the 2 hours I’d contacted and let her know I wanted my things out that they were removed. I was told that I couldn’t go into the store that day because the store was closed, when really the owner did not want to give me my check and see my face; she didn’t have the time of day for the artists that stock her shelves.Artists, and especially young artists, should be aware that it may be exciting when someone reaches out and praises your work, but beware that I’ve only ever received disrespect, lies and frustration from The Corner Mercantile and Eatery located at 8060 La Jolla Shores Drive.I am anticipating a response to this review to take it down and keep me silent about what I’ve been put through, but it is utterly important to me to address this issue so that other artists can make an informed decision before going into business with this shop.Artist vendors please beware.

Nestled in the heart of La Jolla, the Corner Mercantile and Eatery beckons with its irresistible charm. As you cross the threshold, a wave of nostalgia washes over you, greeted by the comforting sights and scents of a bygone era. At the heart of this culinary haven is Lisa, the vivacious host whose laughter fills the air like a melody, instantly making you feel at home.Lisa's quick wit and mischievous twinkle infuse every encounter with laughter and joy, turning a simple meal into a delightful escapade. Her recommendations are as flavorful as her personality, guiding you through a culinary journey that leaves your taste buds tingling with delight. From savory soups to decadent desserts, each dish is a testament to the kitchen's dedication to perfection. The cozy ambiance invites you to linger, savoring not just the food but also the camaraderie shared with fellow diners. But beware, for Lisa's dry wit can catch you off guard, her piercing stare a playful challenge to keep up with her banter. Yet, it's all part of the charm that makes the Corner Mercantile and Eatery more than just a restaurant—it's a cherished memory waiting to be savored again and again. And she knows my friend Sarita who we were visiting immediately after we left Lisa. Make it a stop.
