The first time I came to this place, it had barely opened.. I had an okay experience. Sadly, this time reminded me why I hadn't come back for so long. I was hungry, this place was on the way home so I stopped. I ordered churros locos and a carne asada torta with extra jalapeños.

Loved the elotes and the pico this place was delicious and next time I'm in SD I will stop by to try something new!

My go-to fruiteria! They have great tortas and great smoothies. I always order the chamango (so, so tasty) and occasionally order the tostilocos. Slowly but surely trying everything on the menu at least once!

I used to love this place for the past few years and have referred many friends and coworkers. Unfortunately that's not the case anymore. The quality of food has deterred, each time I went back, it's worse! The staff isn't as friendly anymore either. They use to have better quality lomo until last year they changed their product. Also, pricing has gone up quite a bit, I understand inflation, but shouldn't mark it up more than 35% within six months, that's a little steep. They've always charged .50 card charge, but it would be better to include that on your price. Personally I hate seeing an additional charge for using a card at places. That's why the majority of places don't do this. As mentioned before the tortas, elotes, and other foods we've tried at Chuchees have always been great until the past few visits. Today was the deal breaker, the lomo was so overcooked that it was hard to bite into and enjoy, it was way to tough. I ended up throwing part of it away, which I never did before. They are good portions so you can save half for later, not this time. Unfortunately I won't be back, which is sad, because I like supporting family run businesses.

I love, love, LOVE the charm and simplicity of places like this. As a kid I spent five years living in Panama and as an adult I've been absolutely obsessed with Mexico. In Tijuana it seems that there are places like this on every corner but in San Diego they're mostly found in certain pockets of a few neighborhoods. I'm lucky enough to live in one of those pockets and my first trip to Chuchees will not be my last. Raspados are going to be the next thing I try but my trial run was simply for their fruit plate. After a weekend of less than healthy eating and drinking I was in need of something fresh, not heavy, and certainly healthy. A Mexican fruiteria fit the bill and my Yelp Collection already had Chuchees as a place that I needed to try - done, and done. The plates of fruit were handed to me in a plastic bag that seemed to weigh a ton. There was no skimping on the freshly cut fruit and the portion size was enough for a lite dinner and a lite breakfast - it's all I needed! No frills here, just nice people, serving the community with a quality product!

Love this place! Conveniently down the street from me so I love calling in and picking up orders. I had the Turkey torta: decent size and very tasty. House sauce is maybe a chipotle type sauce but it is good. Citrus Breeze smoothie is very good. One thing I missed is the larger size for the smoothies but still same great taste. It looks like they sell fruit arrangements similar to Edible Arrangements. Only seen pictures but they look great!

used to go to this place all the time, went twice just hoping it was improving. I come to find out it's new owners, the new owners are super rude, charge way more than before. And act as if you are taking up their time for going in there. Chamangos used to be super high quality, with a bunch of toppings etc.. Now they're super bland, and not good. Smoothie is full of ice, And the place seems like it's never cleaned. All in all, the place is failing and going down hill rapidly. Do Not Go. It's not worth it at all.... bummer.

Thanks for not updating your hours my door dash got to your establishment 25min before closing and and to find out you have closed early. Clearly google and door dash have your operating hours reflecting that you close at 6pm...

Decided to try this place on a whim and couldn't believe the experience... This place has the best ham sandwiches in La Mesa. I've ordered from this place multiple times and the food is fresh every time!

Came here from a recommendation for chamangos, I placed my phone order at 2:58pm, was told it would be 10-15 minutes for my food to be ready. My food wasn't ready until 3:30pm. I ordered a chamango & when it was given to me it was watered down & warm, barely a drop of chamoy & maybe 3 chaka chakas. I also ordered 2 cuerito tostadas & when we tried eating them we couldn't pick them up because the tostada had turned into a tortilla (I live a few minutes from this place so don't blame the drive). Also ordered a torta especial which was great. Don't get me wrong the food was good aside from the soggy tostada, but the drinks weren't. They need to manage their orders in a more timely manner so the food won't go bad by the time it is given. The food was not worth the $40 I spent.

Sandia drink was good. Not to over powering like most places. Also got the lomo torta. On point!

Very upsetting experience. I've come here a bunch of times in the past and had great experiences, but today was a huge let down. I ordered 3 banana milk shakes, 1 chimango and a tostilocos bomba. First let down, the milkshakes came in small water cups instead of the one on display that looked bigger, maybe they ran out so better luck next time. Final let down, the biggest was the Tosti Locos. I was given a box half the size and it did not have pineapple or watermelon. They pretty much gave me a half order of tosti locos with hot cheetos on top and charged me full price for a bomba. I'd like to believe they were low on supplies and this won't happen again but I'm not convinced I should give them another chance, especially since I just got cheated $30 during quarantine where money is tight.

Place is good and the fruit is fresh but it's a little pricey for the amount of tostilocos you get. Other than that it's a good place to check out other options. They were friendly and had gloves and masks.
