3 stars is still good. I'll be sure to update the rating when the menu is updated of what's truly available. I'm starting to sympathize more with comments of those who complain of longer waits, and I've noticed customers being served out of order after waiting a GOOD 15 minutes. Yikes.

Drove to Grossmont to try this place out. Very limited hours. Showed up at 6:20 PM on Monday. No one here. Could hear someone watching movies in the kitchen.

What a delightful & delicious addition to the Grossmont's FoodCourt Center !!! This eatery spot only opens 2 days a week and the rest of the days you can catch them at a Farmers' market! so catch them whenever you can! Don't miss out on what they have to offer! The 2 entrees my husband and I ordered were flavorful and well seasoned. We both finished and left our boxes emptied and cleaned . The owner did an exceptional job by making sure if we had any food allergies when taking our orders. This is something that rarely happens where business owner take the cautious and careful step to ask and make sure customers are safe. So we really appreciated that very much! We can't wait to come back and catch you on the days the eatery spot opens! A MUST TRY!!!! :D

Pics on yelp look great and been wanting to try this place for a while now... I've stopped by a few times already when they say they're open but it ends up being closed. Very disappointing... Please update your hours!!

I was hoping to try this place after reading the reviews, so I went online to try to order something and...they don't accept online orders. Ok I thought, I'll call in something because they have a phone number on here...nobody answered the three times I tried. Kinda makes it hard to say a place is good or not when they don't even respond. So, I'm gonna leave this one star here for now.

Well my girlfriend and I was doing a little shopping at grossmont Mall we ran into this teppanyaki restaurant. We were in the mood for some Hawaiian and Japanese food so this was a ticket. We work right hungry so we decided to get a few items. They have an interesting menu here ranging from Filipino, Hawaiian, to Japanese food. The pork chops really caught my eye so I decided to get that with a fried egg. My boyfriend chose garlic pepper beef. I wasn't sure what to expect of the pork chops but I love pork chops so that's what I went with. It actually wasn't too bad the flavoring on it was pretty good and it was cooked really well. I give it 7 out of 10. Ask for my boyfriend's dish he didn't like it too much he said it was kind of bland and needed more seasoning. It was pretty much what we expected since it was a food stall inside a shopping center. We were just hungry so we ate at the first spot we saw. All the workers here were very nice and was patient and helping us. It's a mall setting so you kind of expect what you get here. It wasn't too bad but we are not sure if we would try to get if we're at the grossmont Mall.

It's in a food court in the Grossmont mall but the Filipino food makes you not care that the food is served in a plastic container with plastic utensils. I had the Filipino chicken and pork belly with rice and a salad for $14. The food is delicious and a great value!

Obsessed with this spot. They have the best chicken teriyaki ! It's a must try if you're in the area.

We ordered the Shawarma rice, garlic shrimp plate & pork belly. The food was really good but I think it was quite small considering the price.

So yummy!!! Hidden gem in the food court. The Java rice is quite possibly the best garlic rice I've ever had. And the pork belly and beef teriyaki are insane! We will be coming back

Our whole family loves the food here. It's super flavorful. Yes it is in a food court in a mall, but it's so good that we drive a long distance to come eat here. They are also at the Civita Park farmers market on Saturdays which is how we originally found them.

This was not where I expected to find a vendor that serves up a fusion of Filipino, Hawaiian, and Japanese cuisines. Juanbachi has been open for a few months at the Grossmont Center in La Mesa as one of the stalls in the food court. It looked like at one point the setup was cafeteria style, however you place an order at the service counter, the kitchen cooks your food, and then they call your name when it is ready. Build Your Own Plate or Combo was the featured meal. The plate allowed one meat while the combo cost two more dollars for the addition of a second meat. There were 13 protein choices which was an impressive variety. All but the first three (Chicken Teriyaki, Filipino BBQ Chicken, Filipino BBQ Pork Belly) incurred a surcharge which was disappointing. Five sides were available, and you could choose two of them for a plate or combo. The other half of the menu board displayed the Sizzling Plates and Specialty Bowls. The former consisted of rice, buttered veggies, mushroom gravy, and one of six kinds of meat. The latter was Filipino shawarma rice with chicken, beef, or veggies. I noticed a few customers were sitting at tables waiting for their food when I showed up to order some grub. It turned out the wait would be 20+ minutes at a non-peak time in the middle of the afternoon. My selection was a combo of Filipino BBQ Chicken and Filipino BBQ Pork Belly with Java Rice and Salad with Garlic Mayo Dressing as sides. The rice was fried with garlic butter. The marinade on the meats was rather sweet. As someone else noted, the base price was high for the serving size. I am accustomed to Hawaiian plate lunches that are stuffed with items. Juanbachi falls short in that aspect although the pork belly was very flavorful.
