A surcharge was added to our bill. The server said it is a credit card surcharge, but we didn't pay with a credit card. Basically it was a fee we had to pay just to eat there. Will not go back!

On April 6, 2024, our Homeowner's Association annual meeting was held in the upstairs banquet area of Fortun's. The venue was great, and the service and food were good. The staff made the event smooth and easy. We received great feedback from the owners who attended the meeting. We are looking forward to booking the same venue for next year's annual meeting.

Sat at the bar. The bartender was the owner and an extremely nice guy. The drinks we great and the food was amazing. They even have a cool little ice line for your drinks to stay cold.

This restaurant was excellent but the owner feels he needs to add 4% additional to an already high priced meal. It is just pure greed and very disappointing to ruin a wonderful evening with that. My wife and I both had $65 steaks and to also add 4% was disappointing for a place like that. Even the staff are embarrassed. It's sad because everything was great, but we will probably never go back. Our waiter was excellent.

We had a most disappointing evening. Our first visit his season and the quality of food and service was not acceptable . Patio Tables for more than 4, we were 5, are stuck around the side of the building, complete with power boxes and kitchen traffic. The bar order took 25 minutes to be served. Caesar salad was overdressed and made with pale lettuce. Their signature baked onion soup was full of soggy thick bread. The chicken dinner while tasty was presented much like a local diner would serve it! Past experiences here were always good but the restaurant really bombed this visit!

Most upset at 4% surtax. Owners choice. Offset employee ‘costs’ after pandemic they said. Pandemic has been over long enough. Admit what it is.. price gouging. We’re locals. And we will not look to keep you open during the off season. Really. At an average dinner cost of $35.00 a plate. Appetizers $20. Come on. That’s greed.

Quite honestly, the food is under seasoned in most cases, and the service was not that great even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. For example, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder prior to my meal. It never arrived. The drinks were OK. I found the appetizer menu to be overpriced, and not very exclusive. The price of most of the entrées was around $35 average the taste of the food was also average and so was the value.

Everything was great but very disappointing to see a 4% surcharge added to our bill. We don't like that.. it would be better to just raise the prices. Probably will not go back down to that 4% surcharge.

Pizza was large and plenty for two people. French dip was good. Burger was a little underdone. Wedge salad was excellent. Tomato soup was not warm enough... Should have sent it back. Drinks were reasonably priced. Where else can you get a bottle of Imagery cab for $30? we will return. Likely to try their happy hour that goes until 6 PM.

We love the burnt ends and shrimp creole appetizers. Spinach salad with big pieces of bacon, fresh eggs and wonderful dressing is a favorite. The spicy pineapple margaritas are great.

We were so very disappointed with Fortuns and won't go back. We were seated and the waitress disappeared! My husband was about to go to the bar downstairs to get a glass of wine, when the assistant server told us he would find our waitress. She came back with attitude and the entire experience was not at all what we expected. We dine at Enzo's next door frequently and thought we would try this place, never again. I don't mind paying high prices for good food and service but this wasn't what we were expecting.

We've been going to Fortun's for years. Unfortunately, over the years their prices have gone up for the same high quality food and they've added a 4% surtax to cover the California minimum wage increase. Our food was delicious. My short rib was tender but dry and they could have added more gravy. I'm sure I could have asked in advance, but who thinks of those things when you're ordering. We did have a lovely evening sitting out on the patio with the heaters on for a little warmth. It's a keeper but we won't be going as often as we did before.

Great decor and American Fare “bar setting.” The food overall was average. Fantastic Caesar salads. The Tavern Burgers and Waygu Beef burgers did not come with lettuce and tomato sides (or not offered). Unfortunately, 6 cocktails, 4 burgers with side, 2 salads, & 4 desserts for $300 (with 4% surcharge and pre-tip) is not worth the visit.
