The food is very good but there is a weird waitress (older man) that makes me uncomfortable as a young woman. I went there with my friend and his gaze on us was very off putting. My mom went there and she knew exactly who I was talking about. The food is great, good quality wasabi. I get the urge to go there once in a while but get too scared to face that server again.

I can't believe I have lived in Lafayette for over three years and just discovered this place. In summary one of the very best Japanese restaurants I have eaten in, as good as anything I have had in Japan.Went for lunch. Started the meal with hot saki and toro sushi; outstanding, even the ginger and wasabi served with the sushi was outstanding. My wife had the sushi sampler with salad, I had the grilled miso sea bass with miso soup and rice. Everything was beautifully cooked, presented and tasted fantastic. As an added bonus, the food was served on what looked like a Japanese version of Heath pottery, nice touch. The restaurant decor is bright and tasteful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Total cost for this amazing lunch was only $70, plus tip. Like Arnold said; "I will be back"!You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Google have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them.

Ordered takeout. Very mediocre. Tiny portion of toro in the maki, and rubbery shrimp in the soba.

I came in to pick up a delivery. The food looks and smells so good. I was going to ask them for a to go menu so I could order dinner from here. The people were so rude to me, like In a classist way. They didn't care to answer my question, for a menu, so I could order food. I'm sad to miss out on something delicious... but you should be nice to people. And you shouldn't pay money to mean people

We ordered take out on a rainy Sunday and it was delicious! Best sushi in Lafayette (does that say much? Really though, it was great). We ordered salmon nigiri, toro nigiri, sashimi combo, miso sea bass, Oyama hand roll, spicy tuna hand roll and the oyama signature roll. EVERYTHING was delicious and we eat sushi all the time. Will definitely be back!

Easy reservation for limited seating. Sushi is regularly beautifully presented. Wasabi and gluten-free soy available, which is a plus!

usually pretty good... this order: - ebi udon - like a poor man's version of shrimp scampi... not great. - sushi fish was a little mealy this time around... usually better, but this time it was not that fresh. this place is better as a sit down vs to go. customer service is better in person, on the phone - not great.

I really liked this place. I went there with friends for the first time few days ago and I must admit it was better than expected. The server was very friendly and attentive, the food was fresh and tasty. We only ordered rolls and the Dragon roll was my favorite. I highly recommend the place!

One of my favorite places to go. Casual and boy a lot of take out. If you want to snuggle in for the evening and just have sushi by the fire this is a place to order. Otherwise you can go casual and sit at table or bar counter and enjoy delicious fresh and real crab meat. Sake beer and wine served only...

We came in late one Sunday. The sushi was super fresh especially for a Sunday night! Laid back vibe with a slight upscale aesthetic.

Oyama has been our go to spot since we moved to Lafayette 3 years ago. They are consistent, reasonably priced, and great for both take-out and dining in. It's tough to find a "go-to" sushi spot, and we tried every place in Lafayette and Orinda to find our favorite, and Oyama was off the charts, they exceeded our expectations. The location is small but we've always been able to have a seat. The service is efficient and friendly, and everything is brought quickly without us feeling rushed. To-go wise, they pack it perfectly and I've never had a bad experience. You won't be disappointed! Every roll we've had, we've loved.

Note: some of these reviews are posted incorrectly here. They posted for Greenbrae and Walnut Creek which are different locations. My post is for the one in Lafayette. My go to Thai place. Run by Thai family in Lafayette, the food is really incredible. I have eaten there and done take out many times. They have many dishes to choose from. I like the chicken satay appetizers along with their very fresh spring rolls. Several curries to choose from with yellow being my favorite. The pad thai and pineapple rice dishes are very tasty with just the right amount of Thai spices. One of my favorites is the Thai BBQ Chicken. A real treat with tender grilled chicken which has been marinated in scrumptious Thais spices. A real treat. Beer and wine available. Service is very gracious and friendly. Highly recommended!!!

I am from Japan but love this place with consistent food and service. Their hamachi Kama comes with ponzu and that ponzu taste really good with nice big size of hamachi Kama. Yellow tail nigiri was fatty and fresh, tonkatsu's batter is light and the sauce tastes just as I have in Japan. Staffs are so friendly and attentive too. I'd definitely recommend this place.

service was okay but the owner was shouting at his employees and the food was mediocre.
