I came to California Fish Grill on a sunny Saturday looking for fresh food at moderate prices. And my experience was okay. I made sure to check that the fish tacos had corn tortillas due to a gluten allergy and ordered the coastal tacos with the Swai Cajun fish. I was very clear that the corn tortilla was excellent and I was super stoked to have it. The meal comes with rice beans and a drink and runs around $14 at this location. The positives are that the fish was very tasty, the toppings which included a corn and tomato salsa and guacamole spread were amole and they had non-alcoholic and alcoholic drink options. The negatives were that the place is very disorganized at the counter, everything seems very rushed. They actually intentionally wrote "sub flour tortilla" meaning that I ate an entire tortilla of something that was going to upset my stomach before I even knew it had beenput in improperly! The soda machine is only semi-functional, so there's a lot of extra spray and soda that happens, to the point that my hand was covered in seltzer. Overall, I wasn't super thrilled with my experience, but I do appreciate that the fish was cooked well.

Awesome Mahi Mahi and Salmon grilled plates with tons of options for sides and sauces/seasonings. Love the new sliced tomato and feta side. Always add the shrimp skewer to grilled plate for only $3.99! Healthy and delicious with great prices.

Just ate there last night with my wife and another couple. The counter personnel was very helpful in placing our order. The food came out hot, portions were perfect (not skimpy or too large). The prices were very good. The overall quality of our dishes was excellent. The dining area was clean and tables were cleared off and cleaned quickly. We will come back again for lunch and dinner.

The only thing they forgot was the limes I asked for, which would have put my fish tacos that much more over the top, but they were still delicious nonetheless.The second time I got fish tacos from them again, and that time, they forgot my kale slaw, which sucked because it was one of my chosen sides, but it wasn't the end of the world. I contacted them via their website, and they refunded me a portion of my total for forgetting the kale slaw, which I really appreciate as a customer.Besides the small snafus, the food was delicious and an amazing deal for two fish tacos, two sides, and a drink. I have to add their strawberry mint water is SO good! I definitely would recommend trying it if you're going to eat at the California Fish Grill.

My friend, PM, & I met up for lunch. He suggested California Fish Grill. I've never been here but it was on my to-try list so here we are! Photo - Self-serve ordering system: I was somewhat surprised to see but self-serve and automation seems to be the way many places are heading. (i.e. - Amazon Fresh) If it's your first time here and using their ordering system, it can be a bit daunting. Ahead of me was a customer who was being given the step-by-step process of ordering. It was great to see customer service in action! It would be all to easy for a team member to simply waft away a customer's inquiry for help with a simple, "Oh, it's real easy, just follow the prompts on the screen." Self-serve kiosk - PM placed his order, tap here, click there, insert cell number to be notified when order is ready, payment screen, and done. He made it look easy. Then again, this is his usual go-to spot. I had an idea of what I wanted to order, didn't want to unnecessarily hold up the line. I clicked on the screen and on the very next page was the "Poke Bowl," exactly what I wanted. A few taps & clicks later, I was done. Ah crap, forgot to order a drink... Oh well, I'll live. I didn't feel the need to go through the while process for a mere fountain drink. - "NEXT?!" Dining area - As I walked by the front counter, I saw an elderly couple placing their order. So, you also have the option to go to the counter and actually interact with another human being. This would've been my preferred method. Noted for my next visit. PM ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon, his usual order. It looked good! (Salmon is my favorite.) Photo - As mentioned earlier, I went with the Poke Bowl. Photo - I didn't want to spend too much time mulling over the menu and it was one of the first things that stood out on the menu to me. California Fish Grill's Poke Bowl is Sashimi-grade ahi tuna in poke dressing tossed with red onions, diced tomatoes and served with green goddess dressing, topped with sesame seeds w/avocado. In all honesty, I make it a point not to order poke bowls from most places because I'm not a fan of the extra sh'tuff thrown in with it. I just want the poke in a bowl, nothing else. Hold the rice, hold the salad, hold the won ton strips, and the avocado. Lets keep it simple, just poke, please. A poke bowl to me is simply a bowl and poke, enough said. Back in Hawai'i, most locals just order poke. (We can make our own rice, mahalo very much.) I think the "poke bowl" is a mainland convention to make the consumer feel he is getting more for his money by adding extra sh'tuff into the mix. IMO, it's a lot like the air purchased from a bag of chips. It looks like your getting more than you actual are. Overall, it was good but again, not my preferred "poke bowl." For the $$, it was alright; not the greatest value. Would I return? (Shrugs) Maybe? If PM wanted to meet here again for lunch, I wouldn't be against it. Enjoyed dinner here. Had a combo player with street corn and the zucchini and rosemary. Very good and will visit again.The prices are good. Be aware that visiting on a weekend night and you might be waiting for a seat.We recommend.
