I ordered a few items here, but one dish really made my mind about this place and that was the chicken teriyaki. The chicken tasted at least several days old, reminiscent of when chicken is cooked and left in the fridge, then reheated later. It was absolutely dry, tasteless old chicken. I brought this to the servers attention and she simply denied that it was old or dry. I never asked for a refund because I wanted them to correct their mistake. Chicken is one item that you cannot mess around with like that, as food poisoning is a real issue that affects it especially. A restaurant should never be in denial when a customer sincerely brings a problem to their attention. It is not ok to serve food like this, not just for the fact that people are paying for these dishes, but because it is also a health risk. I will not be going back to this establishment.

Very cozy little place with amazing food. I think this place maybe very underrated for the lunch crowd. Been here a few times with my wife for lunch. Everything we ordered was very good and fresh, not like some other local places. Baked mussels are a must, and any carpaccio sashimi.

Back in May, a fellow yelp*er messaged me, asking what I thought about Fat Fish Sushi's AYCE. At the the time I had never been to restaurant but since, it has been on my to-try list. Fast forward six months, I jumped on my motorcycle and finally made it out to Fat Fish Sushi on an early Sunday evening.Fat Fish Sushi - yelp.com/user_local_phot…I arrived at 4pm and was instantly greeted upon walking through the front door. "How much is the AYCE?" - The lady behind the counter, Jenny, replied, "$37." Okay, let's eat!AYCE Rules (Two hour limit) - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Personally, I have never been a fan of a time limit placed on dinner. If you are a paying customer, you're paying to be there. In addition, one of their prerequisites for AYCE is a two or more people. However, I was alone at the time and it wasn't an issue. I'm guessing that during peak times, they would rather give up space for a party of two or more customers to maximize profits. IMO, not a very smart business practice. It's a good way to lose a lot of potential clients.Like most other sushi restaurants, artificial crab meat could be found in quite a few of the rolls I ordered. (i.e. - Filler) When ordering AYCE, I try to avoid anything that resembles a dressed up California roll or orders that contain fake crab meat. The order:Wasabi - The color of the wasabi looked off, pale and muted; looked old.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Jalapeno Boom - Good; served piping hot.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Unagi - M'eh; served lukewarm/cold.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Saba - M'eh; drenched in vinegar; didn't taste too fresh.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Salmon - Very good.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Tuna - Very good.Salmon Crispy Rice - Okay; different.Yellowtail Crispy Rice - Okay; different.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Spider Roll - Okay.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Scallop - M'eh; underwhelming.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Potstickers - Good; tasted homemade; flavourful.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Baked Green Mussels - Okay.Photo - yelp.com/user_local_phot…Of all the items ordered, the tuna and salmon stood out as my two favorites. I am a big fan of salmon so I will always order the nigiri. Saba is another one of my go-to sushi orders but unfortunately it was not very good.Cost: $37 (+tax/tip)Overall, Fat Fish Sushi was just okay... To be honest, I've had much better for about the same $$ from my usual go-to AYCE sushi off of Bake Parkway; also located in Lake Forest.- Big Aloha!Food: 3-Ambiance: 3Service: 3Value: 3

Amazing food! Small family run business, very nice and quick service. One of the only places around so good that still has all you can eat sushi which includes the specialty rolls. My absolute favorite is the tempura California roll. So warm and yummy! Literally melts in your mouth! Everything is honestly so good! Definitely recommend!!!

Great little place for the locals, I wish I lived a little closer. Came by and tried it out and man what a surprise as I thought it was a AYCE but the quality is that of a top notch sushi restaurant. Definitely worth a visit and be ready to be surprised.I'll be back with some of my co-workers to get updated pictures of some of the dishes.

I've been traveling on business for over 35 years across many states. I've been staying across the street at the Holiday Inn Express for several months off and on. This is the best place for sushi I have ever had the pleasure to experience!!!!They have a fantastic collection of smooth jazz playing and it is so relaxing to have dinner. Warm and inviting, with excellent service and delicious, fresh sushi prepared by a perfect group of people. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!!

I'm really confused about all the good reviews.. We went here on a Friday afternoon for ayce sushi. The water tasted weird..The sushi ginger was also a bit off.The rolls had less rice than the sashimi. The service was spaced out so that we would get full quicker. There was only one other couple here..The soy sauce was watered down. There was no ACThe only win here is that we did not get food poisoning.

Chicken teriyaki dinnerMeat is old and dry. Some of it is fresher. Dark meat and white meat. Not acceptable.Rice good.Side salad was in this little compartment. Yes I ate it first. But it was in with hot food and became warm.Very small portion of teriyaki sauce.Sorry. I’ll give them another chance to serve me fresh chicken meatUpdate———WOW THEY WERE VERY UNFRIENDLY. I suggested. that we try another dish but they just wanted to refund money. Then charged $5 for that lil salad. Lol. 2$ for each can of coke and there you go. 10$ !!!They didn’t apologize or ask me back. Ok. I’m next door at E Mans restaurant.

I have been coming to this place for about three and a half years now, it is my absolute favorite for when I crave sushi or anything fish related. I love eating raw or cooked fish (I could eat it every day), and to me this place has the freshest fish I have ever consumed. Literally every two weeks I track my paycheck so I know if I have enough to splurge on their all you can eat (which I have to get every time, it's so worth it with all the things I can eat, literally in HEAVEN when it's fat fish night). I could go on and on about how amazing and tasty their food is, but I also have to give a shout-out to the staff there. They are one of the kindest, chill, and welcoming people I have ever met in a restaurant environment. They are so sweet, they even bring us little sides of avocado and rice for my 8 month old to try! Anytime I have family or friends coming from out of town, I always make them come here to this special place! Some things to know if you were thinking of AYCE:1.) Everyone has to agree to AYCE (this is to avoid someone mooching off a person who ordered AYCE but they didn’t, which happens OFTEN in other places)2.) They will require a reservation to book AYCE (helps them prep, you order in waves of 3 so they try to prep each wave for your table at the same time).I’ve found that other establishments have started or have already begun to pick up these requirements for AYCE to make it a smooth and sincere experience for both customers and restaurants. Just some helpful advice for fellow sushi lovers!
